Fourth Officer Joseph Boxhall dies in the film. In reality, he survived the sinking.
Also, Chief Officer Henry Wilde, Third Officer Herbert Pitman, Sixth Officer James Moody, and Titanic designer Thomas Andrews are all omitted from the movie.
Its a cheap movie. But not as bad as it looks. Tells you about the SS Californian and its role in the story. But one important person is missing in this movie, Thomas Andrews. Many scenes would of course be copies from other Titanic movies.....its the same story...
@TITANICLUSITANIA I saw a video to a night to remember. Really accrate story...the ship looked nothing liked the real ship. And it looks fake! James camerons version is WAY better.
@titanicfreak54 Eww no. Watch James Cameron's version if you want to hear an unrealistic poignant love story. Watch A Night To Remember if you want to see a more accurate account on what really happened.
Definitely a disappointing film, even if it did have a few good moments. I truly prefer old-fashioned matte paintings to bad CGI. Cameron did better with the CGI but he too failed on many levels. The perfect Titanic film is yet to be made. :A Night to Remember", even with its weak special effects, still holds up as the best presentation of what really happened.
I have never seen this movie, but believe it or not the trailer reveals that Cameroon's version was purely a 'polish' of A night to remember and this one.
I hate to say it but James Cameron's Titanic literally shits on this.
The ship actually looked brand new down to the paint and looked real while this one looks like a rusty old barge with four stacks. It had better actors who looked more like the historical characters, better script, and even the sets were so meticulously designed to look almost like the real Titanic....
@FortitudeOfHeaven Dirty old barge? If you have read a little more into it, in 1912 there was a coal strike, causing a coal shortage, and coal form other ships that were not using it had to be transferred to the Titanic, making it look dirty. They cleaned it, but leaving coal smudges and dirt marks behind
@FortitudeOfHeaven In accuracy A Night To Remember shits on ALL THE TITANIC FILMS. Esp. considering that Cameron never fully portrayed Margaret brown as she really was.
wow, although i think the 97 movie was FAR superior in every way, they DID copy. A LOT. so many of these little detail shots - the guys sliding under those watertight doors, things of that nature. some of the bigger shots are inevitable - a ship sank, you can only tell the story so many ways. but i'm slightly disappointed to see that some of the more moving shots from those moments were copied rather than original.
Well, actually, James Cameron wrote his script in 1995. Since the script was so readily available, it was apparently taken and copied to an extent by the producers of this version. The production of this was heavily rushed, because of the fact the James Cameron movie was being released, and there was so much hype, so they were trying to get viewership off of that hype. Nonetheless, the 1996 version stunk, and the 1997 version is one of the best movies of all time.
Compared to James Cameron's film, this was a piece of crap! Very historically inaccurate and full of inferior cgi. However, some of the acting is ok. Unfortunately, a halfway decent cast can't save a fundamentally poor film. Cameron's film is superior in nearly every way.
They made this film, little did they know the following year they wouldve made another movie about the titanic that became the one of the best movies of all time. FAIL.
Julian Fellowes new four-part mini-series is going to put this and James Cameron's film to shame!

@mitinese But the 96 version isnt copied from the Cameron Script, it is a complete diffrent story apart from historical facts

On the contrary, I've read at several places that it is to a degree copied from the Cameron script, which was leaked.

Shut up, faggots. This movie is brilliant. It's historically unaccurate, but all Titanic movies are.
Nevertheless, this low budget movie's got a certain visual style that no other film about the subject can surpass.
