  • Brought 2 computers there this week I got calls for both machines on different days. The first machine they said I needed a hard drive and I needed to locate the startup disc. Today they called and said the laptop needed a hard drive too. I located a desktop clearance $200 on the floor bought it and decided to take all my machines home. The lap top I am using it right now I powered up the computer and started grinding. I never use the lap top key board and the dust is still on the machine.

  • @cdltpx This is the Baton Rouge store I have to say they are not favorable to tell me I need a hard drive when they never even did much to the computer? Harddrive would cost over $100 and once replaced you have no proof if they were being honest or not. I plan to work on the desk top tomorrow I will wipe it and start fresh from the disc start up. I have 9 disc that I made a while back just like I was instructed to do. Helps to have an associates degree in electronics but I hadn't kept up.

  • @cdltpx Here is what SUCKS we bought the bundle package when we got a new machine they cover 3 machines for the fee it isn't cheap if they are going to shoot at one of the most expensive easiest items to change. I will not take my computer back to Baton Rouge I will take it to New Orleans or another store even if I have to go to JACKSON MS or Lafayette La IDK but I will ask around about service and will mail my equipment there if I have to. I don't trust these dudes !

  • (2/2)

bad I was happy with the results. I am a person that does most Computer fixes my self but i could not fix this one because i had no back up cds lol... But I am just happy they got it working again the right way i was pleased with the service i called a couple time they let me know what was going on.

I have a Gateway FX laptop if you wanted to know.

  • I just took my comp in because i did something stupid i am not going to go into detail. But I Could not get my Factory Restore on all my stuff was gone and i took it in to Geek squad and i thought my black tie warranty covered it but it did not and after reading all of these negative review i thought it was going to cost me a lot more than it did. it cost me $200 to get it back up and running that included a 1 year warranty for software/virus and it can work up to 3 comps witch is not....

  • IOWA FTW! :)

  • Like to see your going for local knowledge. Works well with a lot of things. The learn from the web is also ok, but only, 1) if the maching you want to repair, is not the only one you have to get onto the web & 2) I think you had the advantage, that you came up (due to your age) with the more simple systems, its a lot easier to start of with the foundations, rather than climb through the first floor window.Regards Bob

  • AVOID Geek Squad. Currently the only care is to maximize the sale. Not recurring revenue, the sale at that moment, be it in house service or counter service. I have heard horror stories of people paying well over $500 in service fee's for calling in a virus issue, requesting in home service. This seems to becoming standard with their services, unethical.

  • @d0rkb0y Which is funny because they launched something back in March that allowed unlimited software resolutions for $199 for an entire year.

I've been with GS for a long time, and while I agree that a lot of time it boils down to individual situations. I know I personally use my moral compass when suggesting services and if I think a client would have a better experience purchasing a new machine vs repairing their current one. $500 for a service on an old machine is just absurd.

  • @axi0m I was an original launch Agent, then SA and the continued rebranding and downhill turn and constant poor ethics (charging for the 'tweaks' that caused issues originally, etc) made me start up competition in the DC market. I have seen many solid examples (receipts / invoices) that back me up. Sadly it has become more of a ripoff company than anything else. I am thriving, because the competition has no ethics.

  • @d0rkb0y I agree to an extent that there are some questionable ethics, but the same can be said for any company or any place in the tech industry. I'm involved heavily in our training process so I make sure that everything I teach is built on an ethical foundation. We've had many clients come in from the local competition who will throw bootleg copies of Windows etc on units and then not help them when the activation fails. It's a rough industry and definitely not how it was years ago.

  • @axi0m It is a retail organization. There is very little in the way of true ethics at the top of big biz retail. I am very glad I am out of it. You sound to be a local agent, not in MN. They tie your hands pretty efficiently. To be honest I am very glad to no longer be in any form of retail.

  • @d0rkb0y I've been in retail and retail management a very long time, that was part of what I meant by continued trends from business to business but change has to start somewhere. I'm older than I may seem to be, but in my current situation as well as the economic situation I make the best of what I have available, and like every company there are flaws but we all need to try and make a difference where we can.

  • lol liquid emitting diode?....

  • I recently joined the Geek Squad as a Counter Intelligence Agent, and I wanted to let you know, Chris, that I agree wholeheartedly with your answer to the person's question. As with any large retail chain, the competency and trustworthiness of their employees boils down to the local employees themselves and their management. In my first few weeks, I've found my fellow agents to be contentious, highly competent and extremely trustworthy, and they encourage me to do likewise.

  • I bought a laptop for my daughter 2 years ago and when I was checking out, they were charging me an additional $40 because the Geek Squad 'optimized' it. I told cashier I didn't want that because I know how to optimize my own stuff.

  • 6 Years ago. Carmel, Indiana Best Buy. AVOID.

Waiting for my interview I watch my long time friend and tech-savvy computer tech forcefully ruin a computer per the manager's request. I NEVER recommend them after this. Management is on a mission to sell and oviously in Carmel, they're willing to rip you off to make that money.

  • @AvengedG7x I have seen on in VA have a 'RMA" tool. This was basically a external power adapter with the wires bared at one end. They would short out systems etc to make the RMA process faster, more definite. Very unethical. Some people did not want to lose their systems like this, just get a single piece of hardware replaced inside the system, etc.

  • GEEK SQUAD IS AWESOME MY BROTHER WORKS THERE i had a whole bunch of virus's and he fixed it in about a hour!!!!

  • geek squad is biggest ripoff ever and also they started the bullshit 15% again if return any hardware or pc when "nothing is wrong with it just change mind"...highest price at geeksquad on theyre list is 300 and im like wtf i can charge 50 just to put a new drive and reformat myself no questions asked all they do is bring the pc, new drive and hell they can watch and i can give help for "freeeee!"....bb also a rip cause i paid 1200 with tx for mu asus and 2 days later dropped to 800

  • @adambennett08330 Yeah, that does suck. However, you do realize that Best Buy is a corporation and when you buy something, then return it, they have to mark the product's price down. But at least in my area, Best Buy no longer charges restocking fees.

  • @adambennett08330 They do have a 30 day price gurantee, you know.

  • You worked at adventureland?!?! I spend my whole summer there=D the silly silo has alot of rules now though :/

  • I miss his old Tv channel called Tech Tv, it was such a great station for pc knowledge and updates. Is that channel still on?

  • @tgoodfella Really?

  • You probably got an answer by now but I just wanted to let you know (just in case) Patrick Norton now hosts Tekzilla at Revision 3 and Leo started the Twit network. Neither are actual television channels but you can watch episodes on the web or download them as a podcast. If you happen to have a Tivo you can use it to download/watch episodes as well. TechTV no longer exists (at least not as far as I know). That channel is now G4 (at least it was when I stopped watching).

  • lol its like watching a chinese video subbed in english he talks but it doesnt match his mouth movement lawl so funny!

  • Ihave a question if i bought an xbox 360 with a geeksquad warranty ..

Will they fix my xbox if the xbox had broken

  • @icreatit yes, i know because i work there.

  • @7410n0 Uhhh what? Apple doesn't produce the hardware for Macs at all. Try doing your research first. Macs are PCs. Just because some people don't call them that anymore doesn't mean they're right, it just means that people are idiots..

  • I do understand that people piss and moan about the cost of things but when it comes down to it, it comes down to labor plain and simple just like taking your car to get fixed.

  • I bought my daughter a laptop at besbuy and they wanted to charge me extra because the laptop was 'optimized' by the Geek Squad. I told cashier I was very pc literate and didn't want it 'optimized' because I could do a better job of that.

Cashier wasn't pushy but suggested a couple of times it was a good idea to buy it 'optimized'. Anyway, don't be stupid and fall for their BS when you buy a pc from them. Like Chris says, DO YOUR RESEARCH!

  • My 2 yr old computer went down with a 3 yr service contract from best buy and the geek squad. Turned in on 29 Sept 10, now after 60 days in for repair (I complained at 30 days to no avail) they tell me, So sorry, we'll put a RUSH on it.

What a disservice. Do you think there is any chance my hard drive is still intacked? To think, I paid top dollar for this?

  • Don't trust Geek Squad. Even if they do provide you with perfect expert service, which too often they don't, they'll charge waaaay too much. They've also been know to scam people. I don't care if someone says a scam is rare. Once is enough.

  • my town has under 10,000 people and we have two booming computer stores,

Stupid eh? one is more for older systems and one is for newer systems

  • i had one virus on my computer and they charged me 200.00 dollars to take it off

  • i got some viruses and i paid 5 pounds for them to fix it and they put more viruses on it

  • Is Pirillo a gay man?

  • @yingdiskette

    No, a straight woman.

  • @yingdiskette

Certainly not gay, merely a great geek!

STRAIGHT , HE HAS a grand wife

  • @jeffreytoddwells HAD, they divorced.

  • geeksquad is a scam just like natlinxz they want 40$ for mor info on my issue they want 50$ 2install a graphics card lol fuckin overprice fucktards really and i bet u anything prob only half of the ppls that work there are smart rest are in the back doing SHIT 4 work bing braindead like lockergnome here

  • uh so you were a carnie? figures lol

  • I remember when I was 12 and my mom had to take the family computer to Geek Squad and they kept on saying there was multiple problems with it and my mom knew there wasnt and they just made me and my mom so mad I remember her saying " Were NEVER going there again! "

  • Geek Squad value is based off the TECH's in the store, NOT the management. Just like any RETAIL chain, you have idoits that can lie and weasel their way into a job. Most of the Agents are very competant and well worth the price.

  • geek squad is a complete rip off and scam, they charge 149.99 for virus removal!! WTF!!? lmao and thats in store to come to ur house its over 200 dollars*facepalm*

  • @cleanupman22 Geek Squad does not do Virus Removals. They do OS repairs, if that's virus removals, and repairing the damage that's done and doing a ful diag to ensure your hardware is fuctioning as intended, and then updating your OS per your EULA. If you can get rid of it yourself and repair the damage that was done, the yo udon't need us. Not everyone is that cool and not everyon wants to wipe and reload their OS. I bet you use AVG or Norton for AV/AS too, huh?

  • lol at that borgib guy "is that the guy from TV!? I love that guy! I used to watch him all the time! tech TV!! :D"

  • GeekSquad: In MOST cases, they are just wannabe Geeks.

Some local Best Buys may have some decent Geeks.

  • I have not had any expereance with geek squad but i know dell tech suport made a large mistake that i caught when fixing my bios settins the man on the phone told me the wrong setings for my modle computer to fix my sata drive I know my way around a computer so i could tell he was confused "always talk to a seprat oporator and doble check

  • @KingKhronic I'll take your non-spelling ass's word for it

  • WOW!! He makes his room in his parent's basement look AWESOME!!

  • You can probably find local computer guy to come to your house or a company that does in house computer trouble shooting for either a fraction of the cost/half of what Geek Squad charges. If the problem is minor it can be fixed in an hour, tops.

  • Geek Squad is great

  • i just turned 18. i know more then geek squad.

i got antec 300 tower and didnt want to mess around with the pwr and rst plug so i went to geeksquad. they knew it was custom build so didnt try to pull anything over my head and they didnt know what to do. they wanted to charge me 70 for something i knew should take seconds. guy gives me attitude because im laughing at their incompetence and did the job myself.

its funny cause they didnt know what to do

  • from what i heard most of the pc gaming community agree geek squad is a terrible service. they live off the elderly over charging them crazy amounts for simple info/service. whats overcharging? last time i went there old lady put wrong size cartiage in printer and they charged her around 70-80 to removed jammed and insert new.

customer service?, you prove point that they act superior in knowledge then quickly raise defense when being attacked.

  • @hound4680 I would've charged her $40-50.

  • your credentials are nothing. it just shows me you obtain them because your life was going no where and you needed a job. many ppl i see have no credentials and they are very knowledgeable from personal experience (pc gamers)

your not special, your parents lie to you. and yes that also means your not really the most handsomeness boy in the world.

as soon as i read your comment i pictured a geek squad employee, overweight with stomach hanging over uniform. 3/3 of employees looked like that.

  • geeksquad fixed my laptop 4 times for free they are amazing!

  • I see most geeksquad guys are very young. How can they possible have in terms of experience. You need someone who worked in a professional setting like a Co or office where he/she worked for yrs. If you think you finished high school and you are ready to be a geeksquad guy, think again. Some of these qeeksquatters dont even know what PCI stand for or RAID or PCMCIA.

  • @HelmetVanga

age doesnt have to do nothing with this. Do you know who created firefox? He was 19 when his FF came out. When he was 15 he was already working as an intern for netscape.

The issue with Best Buy is they DONT TEST their "geeks". They ask do you got A+? (btw i was interviewed by them once) ok. What is a long beep sound. What do you do if someone else steals? And thats it, thats like 2 of the interviews (never got the third one). A+ means you can read not that u can work.

  • @HelmetVanga PC knowledge isn't necessarily remembering acronyms either. And knocking someone for their age is just ignorant. If anything they aren't screening their techs well enough to filter out the inexperienced ones.

  • @HelmetVanga

i totally agree with you. I find that getting a geek squad member that has any knowledge of computes beyond there training is very low.

  • Geek Squad didn't teach me how to replicate global catalogues from one domain controller to another, or teach me how to custom subnet or super subnet.

There you go, ptoven wrong dude

    enjoy!

  • this geek guy at bestbuy wanted to sell me a wireless modem for 120 bucks that was meant for big businesses... inside i was like "wat the fuck." Then I gave him a evil voice and said i want a netgear one...

  • my exp.with geek squad of langley /b.c./ canada....i was new to computing/gaming and had rented my first gaming server and was having trouble getting remote controll of it ,[wich turned out to be nothing but a incorect port no.] i called geek squad and asked for a gaming expert ...well the buy they sent knew less than me and didnt do what i asked and screwed my comp and gave me a bill for $240 i paid it and filed a complaint and got no responce from theircomplaint dept. ....THEY HIRE ANYONE....

  • Geek squad opened up my pc and stuck thier hand inside without grounding themselves and static jacked up my pc. I needed to know if this graphics card i was going to buy would fit agp or pci xpress. This is basic shit the guy did not ground him seld luckilly I had a backup cd! Auburn ca Best buy.... do not go there

  • Geek Squad are a bunch of noobs. Chances are, if you find your local independent computer repair shop, they'll be able to give you a hand. Also, see if you have someone in your family who knows computers. Nowadays, you probably do.

  • Mendoza0208,

Its guys like FERTECh that gives the tech business a black eye by making the rates so low where techies cant make a living. lowering your rates to "scab-like" prices doesn't do ANYONE trying to bring home the bacon any favors. We should focus on QUALITY and getting the bang for your buck. I say $75.00 per hour and a GUARANTEE repair of the PC or the job is free.

  • Before you get your computer fix, call Fertech Computer Repair, there number is 312-735-1788. My friend call them and got his computer Fix for $40.00 they give you what you want plus there extremely fast. everyone is saying that Fertech Computer Repair is 100 times better then Geek Squad.

  • I remember I was waiting in line to see if they had a screw driver I could use to open up my iBook so I could replace the hard drive. The lady in front of me was talking with the guy at the desk about hooking her laptop to her modem via USB because they thought that it did not have an Ethernet port. I pointed it out to both of them, and gave her advice on how to set up her wireless network.

  • @otroe1 I think he has one,

  • @otroe1 of course we do. everyone needs chicks.

  • why would you make a video about something if you dont even have a side on it?? NO HELP!! WASTE OF MY TIME!!

  • @afsoomaali Hey--did you notice the question mark in the title?

  • there so dam expensive!!!! i hate them!

  • @Gamer,

Good job, you probably didn't even research that. Please, before you press that 'Post Comment' button, learn your stuff.

btw, I'm 16, and have had 11 years of experience. Yes, that's right, I've been working with computers since I was 5. That's what happens when your dad is an engineer.

  • No way Pirllo grew up in Iowa, that where I live.... lol

Anyway in my mind geek squd is great if you have alot of money an no time to fix the computer yourself. It might just be cheeper if you buy another entire computer yourself for back up if your that preocuide with your computer. Or use a local person that knows something about computers.

  • Geeksquad wanted $100 to set up my new imac...How dumb do they think people are?!?!

  • Well you do own a mac. That's their first qualifier if you're stupid or not.

  • mac users are stupid? LOL whatever you say.

  • You couldn't even setup your iMac.. It's as simple as turning it on and entering your user and password. If you needed someone to hold your hand through that, then sir, you are a stupid fuckstick.

  • Ignorant bastard, did you even read my comment? I said that they were ripping me off for trying to charge me for imac setup. I know how to setup an imac. So before you start calling people "fucksticks", I suggest you at least read the comment.

  • macfag=you= stupid fuckstick. Sir, I rest my case. Want a second opinion? Get a real computer. Have a wonderful day.

  • mac is for retards. I could build a mac for about $500...instead of the $3000 that you payed for it. And that $500 would be with a gtx250 and a quad core intel core duo

  • lol wow. Mine was $1200. And I decided to buy the better one, since I wanted more hard disk space than the $1000 one. But you are so ignorant and retarded that you wouldn't notice that Apple makes money on hardware, and then sells you the software for cheaper. That's why iWork is $70, not $400. And that's why Snow Leopard is $30, not $300. Get the picture?

  • Ehh, spend as much as you want on a Mac, but you still won't have as much access to software as the PC users.

  • So does that mean you can invent the gtx250 as well?

  • @natlinxz WELL U DID BUY A MAC, LOL

  • @natlinxz - like you, stupid enough to think about calling them to set up a computer that needs no setup help for a normal person.

  • @theothertroll Wow, you're an idiot. I bought my computer at future shop, and while I was buying it they offered to set it up for me. I never called them, don't assume random things and then insult me for them.

  • @natlinxz - I'm an idiot? LOL! I'm sorry - that you're a fucking stupid illiterate moron who possesses the communication skills of a pile of camel shit. You never said anything about "future shop"(what ever the fuck that is) nor anything about BB offering to set up a Mac. Pull your head out of your ass and learn to communicate or shut the fuck up..

  • @theothertroll Geeksquad is part of futureshop. Think before you type.

  • @natlinxz well, SOME people want a copmuter to take home and just turn it and get to a desktop. Updates take time, testing takes time. most computer techs charge per hour, Geek Squad charges per job. so if it takes 1 hour or 12 hours, same price.

  • @natlinxz

They wanted to charge you 100$ to plug it in and press the power button?

  • @natlinxz Well if you're dumb enough to buy a 3k computer that has 20$ parts in it then I guess you'd be dumb enough to pay 100$ for an hour (max) installation :)

  • @natlinxz well you bought a mac... and you know how much it would cost to get geek squad to hook it up.

  • @natlinxz Well, you bought a Mac. lol

  • @EWOlson007 Holy crap man, you're only the trillionth person to make that exact same joke. Don't think that macs are for idiots just because the interface makes more sense, almost every creative professional (ie. photo/video editors, script writers, game reviewers, etc.) uses Mac OS X. So congratulations, you're a tool.

  • @natlinxz

Macs are for idiots because people who actually know a thing or two about computers use PCs. Macs are overpriced for their parts, can't be upgraded, can't run most games, and are lacking in power (over the computer) for the user. If I wanted a Mac-like interface, I could just dual-boot with Ubuntu on my PC.

  • @7410n0 With all due respect, smart ass... a PC is a PC. Macs are PCs. A *nix box is a PC. A Windows box is a PC. I know you hear "Mac vs PC" all the damn time, but it's bullshit. It's Mac vs Windows or Mac vs *nix. Thanks to all of the Apple commercials, shitty end users like yourself don't know the difference between a PC and.... a PC.

  • @ncn8ochaser You nitpick me on a semantic technicality and call me a smart ass? :P I realize Macs are Personal Computers, but nowadays people just don't use PC to refer to Macs anymore. You know why? Because Apple produces almost all of the hardware in their Mac. That makes many non-Mac components incompatible with Macs and essentially makes the Mac a different machine when it comes to upgrading/changing parts.

The meaning of words and how words are used change. Get over it.

  • @natlinxz A trillion people agree with me? Wow. But you must be right, and all those other people wrong. lol

  • @natlinxz i work at best buy and yes plp are that dumb.

  • @natlinxz why would you buy a mac from an apple store?

  • Sad Story: a while ago i had a laptop...it was running slow...brought it to geeksquad.... got it back in a week or so...went home... didn't boot up...sent it to dell... got it back in 2 days... worksfine

  • If you know enough about electronics, you know they break overtime.I personally don't trust Best Buy.if you can meet the guy thats going to play with your machine and feel he has a real knowledge then go for it.

If you're clueless about electronics, you gotta 50/50 shot that everything will be ok with the moron behind the counter. If you're a no nothing get a extend warrenty.I own 15 computers 5 have been replaced instead of repaired b/c of EXTENDED warranties. There not as evil as they sound.

  • my thumb is -25 degrees ppl is u read this comment im talkign about a 360 degree circle so -25 degree is not a acomplete thumbs down =) i dotn completely hate best buy

  • Comment removed

  • Lord, GeekSquad suckz. I have so many complaints from friends and family members telling me about their experiences with geeksquad. I'm a student of RIT,

  • Oh hey Timmy, when you get A+ you can start talking! Since you probably dont yet, you can keep quiet.

  • lol i live in iowa, i went on the silly silo two times in a row one time when i was at adventureland and threw up, not too fun

  • seriously, i tried to get hired by those fucks and they're dumb as a brick shithouse. at the best buy i went to, THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK AN ISP IS!!!!!!!!!! O_o.

  • That is very true and funny. lol

They don't hired ppl who are smarter then them.

  • worst service I have EVER had from any company was Geek Squad

  • most of the people are ok it just cost way to much.,...

  • My HDTV wouldn't turn on, so we called best buy and told them that even after plugging it in and out a few times it still doesn't get any power. After two weeks of waiting a couple guys pulled up..plugged it in..and said. "Yep, no power" then told us they would bring a new "power thing" in two more weeks...FML !

  • Yes, Geek Squad is a sham. They don't know shit. They are nothing more than salesman selling so called IT service. I will never use them again.

  • Best Buy=YAY Geek Squad= wtf where did all my money go?!?!

  • Fry's = YAY. Geek Squad = get the fuck out of here.

  • actually fry service center sucks, at least the one ive been too in arlington. it took six months for them to get a laptop of mine repaired, and it was because they had forgoten about it. i love buying things at frys, but as far a service, they can kiss my as

  • There's a fry's in arlington? fuck! I wish I knew that a year ago... Now the closest thing I have to an electronics store is a sayu. : /

  • Ive worked with some geeksquad members who where terriable with customers and others who where great with them.....so it really depends on what store you go to

  • Comment removed

  • It really matters what precinct you go to. I work for Geek Squad and honestly it depends on the skill level and team work of the invironment. Alot of common issues can be fixed WITHOUT restoring or reimaging Systems just by knowing your way around Registries and navigate and modify system files, drivers, processes,etc.. and by being able to utilize all the tools given. I know some agents who can't, but teamwork at the location is showing the others the fixes and knowledge that you know.

  • The other day the Geek Squad wanted to charge me $100 to secure a heat sink that was falling off my mother board! I took it somewhere else and they put a new clip on the motherboard FOR FREE! It took less than 2 minutes to fix that problem. I WILL NEVER USE BEST BUY'S GEEK SQUAD AND I DON'T RECCOMMEND IT. I will occasionally shop at Best Buy, but the Geek Sqaud is the biggest rip-off.

  • i think your forgetting that geek squad is a bussiness.. why would they do it for free when they know that you can't do it yourself. its a good opportunity for them to make money. i work at best buy and i can tell you many customers leave unsatisfied due to either time period for the fix or the circumstances of the problem and most of the time its not geeksquads fault.

  • My point being is the second place I went to said they would charge 45 dollers to fix it. When the boss noticed I have been in this shop 3 other times for business they put the clip on it for free. I did not have a extra clip, they had a (box full) and they also said I'd be stupid to pay the Geek Squad $100 for 1 minute of work! Geek squad then offered to do a diagnostics for $60 to find out why the clip fell off the motherboard LMAO! What a joke!

  • chriss pissillo you never give a straight answer, someone asks you a question and you go off on a completely dig=ff tangent and start telling some boreinf story about how you were jacking off this cpu while ...you love the sound of your own voice ,quality not quantity answer direct q with direct a its like your mouth and arse got switched because you chat a lot of shit

  • sham more like scam. 400 bucks to replace a hard drive while i was away at school because they cant perfrom a system diagnostic. lost all my music. my mom could have bought a fuckin new computer

  • or you could do it yourself, pull out the hard drive put it into an enclosure, buy a new hard drive and install windows yourself, then transfer your stuff back form the old one. If you cannot handle that on your own, then you should consider yourself lucky they are there to do it for any amount of money! At least at geeksquad, there are many people working, somneone is bound to know your specific problem.

  • i work for geeksquad and i tell people the price and i also RECOMMEND plans of action, such as the exact one given by mtnXfreeride. if you have any questions of future problems ill be more than glad to provide the cheaper solution.

  • Yes it is. Geek Squad charged my $350 to fix a Blue Screen Of Death. Went to a nearby Computer repair and they only charged me about $38 + 50 for new anti-virus (which was just in time because old one expired)

Geek Squad doesn't really have that much computer experience and can get away with scams.

  • Geek squad sucks. They lie and tried to screw me over. Lucky I knew enough about computers I was able to beat them.

  • so you were just too lazy to do it yourself hahaha :p

  • Well. If you feel like you're being ripped off by a Geek Squad agent, fix the computer yourself. We did not make it, we did not break it. And if we did, we would fix it or replace it. Yes, there is a lot of margin on monster cables and things like that. If you have a problem with paying retail value prives, get a business license, open a store and buy it wholesale. We all have to pay full price for something, if you are an average consumer, why wouldnt you?! GET OVER IT!!!!

  • I worked for Geek Squad and it does depend on who is running the show... I found out that the geek squad agents were lazy... Their solution to everything was "REIMAGE" or "REFORMAT"... My crew never wanted to actually take the time to clean the computer systems out

  • SILLY SILO FTW!

In other news, the Outlaw is my favorite rollercoaster ever.

  • What type of monitors are in the backround?

if anyone could tell me I would apreaciate it. They look very big, clean, and sexy.

  • 30 Inch Dell monitors

  • 75% of the time geek squad is a rip off.

had a bad pc..... they dropped by. they advised to just buy a new pc after seeing it would not boot. they charged $320 for that advise. took it to work and the pc tech chkdsk and defragged it. it now works fine.

  • you know what they might be a rip off but guess what just because you dont pay for their service another person will.Like Pirillo said it all comes down on the management because there the ones that hired the people. There are some good geek squad people and there some horrible ones but I actually talk to a friend that used to work at one and he told me straight up that it's all about up selling. But hey it's a business and there gonna take advantage on the average person who doesn't know much.

  • Geek Squad makes me rofl. All of the "agents" I have ever talked to (out of curiosity) are basically dropouts from the local tech college. And MARKUPS FTW!!!

  • Knowing someone at the store is almost a 100% sure fire way of getting a job...(speaking from experience). Funny how my Customer service experience at ticketmaster was worth more than my 8 years computer repair experience. I refuse to let my store change my motto. TECH first, sales second.

  • how do u become a member of geek squad?

    someone plez reply

  • You go and apply, you keep doing this in till you get called or asked to speak with one of the managers. I dont remember well but you have to either take the personality test when applying or after, just be as goody tossue as possible when doing it. It helps if you know anyone there, but keep trying, thats how some people did it, and its hard to get in.

  • No, I dont do that. If its dead they will just replace it in the store. Are you talking about in Store or other places?

  • how else will they pay the employee, I'v worked in many retail stores and its horrible how they convince the costumer to buy buy buy, but some places are not that bad.

  • I have never seen anyone in GS send a computer in for a dead power supply. We don't make money on things being sent to Service so we prefer to do it in store. If the power supply is dead, they can pick out the product they want off the shelf and we install it if they wish. Just that simple.

As for selling products with mark-up, etc.. A.we aren't on commission B.what you think a company is just going to sell products that we sell for the same price we paid the manufacturer? Yeah..um, study econ.

  • working for the geeksquad, i can honestly say that there is no price gouging at my store. its absurd to sell any powersupply for 200 dollars...yes, there are some that we sell, but we by far do not recommend that one.

  • I usually recommend between the cheapest one, depending on the customer's needs of course. If they don't care, I'll sell 'em the cheapest. If they are gaming I might recommend a bit higher wattage. It depends on what THEY want. I check the power supply for free to see if it is dead, tell the customer to go pick one out (might give them a few tips based on what I know about them) and let them know we can install it. And done.

And we don't set MSRP, which, btw, is what we sell our products at.

  • Thats not true.

  • PC world suck arse, they charge £50 - £100 to remove spyware when you can download a spybot for free and do it yourself.

  • PCWorld in the U.K is the worst, the sell imac G5's claiming there the latest! LOL

  • lol.. i personally, dont recommand any big brand comapny. Yo, i had chatted once with a HP Technician online.. She/he knew less computer then my sister who is 10 year old.. i mean, EVERYTHING, they have to say: Lemme check my reference.. Dell also, yo, Dell was worst, they couldnt understand a single shit i was saying.. So, I personally recomand those little local shops u have.. Their probably more educated then big brands. Cuz get one thing in mind, Big brands : Good because of their money..

  • Its hard to understand them becasue you are actually calling India, its happened to me.

  • Geek Squad Sucks.... period!!!
