  • do you need to change the water? if so, how often and how is that done?

  • Is the plant food liquid or pellet? And how much and often do I use it? Or does it just say on the pack? Sorry for all the questions.

  • How long do I grow the plant for before rinsing the soil off and putting it into the tub/system?

  • brilliant, just plain fucking brilliant, cheers dude. Imma start some pot now.

  • A hole saw would be the best way to cut the holes out.

  • smoke weed everyday

  • Well I'll give this thumbs up, I grow stuff out side I live in Cyprus so where else would I grow them. Inside?? burning Electric.

  • Great video 2 suggestions, use rain water not tap water and an organic fertilizer

  • this was informative, i thought it would cost more. great video uploader!

  • he uses a cordless drill to keep the lids on. but he goes on and buys some random power cutting tool, instead of hole saw bit.... puzzling

  • @hiedi2006 or anyone who knows

do you have to change the water? If so how often?

  • hey mate, roughly how much did this cost you all up? cheers

  • wow ' your telling people to use the sun'' thats so dumb bro' have fun with that.....o ya ' you look like a jack ass @5:04.......lol

  • you sound like a fucknig retard. this video could have been about 4 min, if you didnt talk so slow and say obvious stuff

  • hole saw drill bit instead of doing everything you did, i gota pack of 3 for like 5 bucks at walmart and it had each size u need for each size pot

you prob dont need 4 in pots either, 2 inches work fine

  • wow how did it look at harvest?

  • Welcome to the fustrating world of hydro my friends, what you should be askin yourselves is this, to what end? Somthing so small won't even justify the nute cost let alone, everything else, so will it work sure, will it be worth your time compared to just plants in soil, no

  • sunleaves sells a air pump for 40$ 600gph! more air the better!

  • also tote tubs cant handle the wieght after the plantz get any decent mass on them, your net pot willl fall through or lid will bow inward really bad until it eventually buckles-

  • 5 gal bucket, net pot, air stone system- wayyyy better-

  • Amazing

  • wow that is so awesome!! can this be used for all veggys?

  • We have just written a course in Aquapoincs (fish and plants in one - the fish by-products create nutrients for the plants), and our principal has written a book called Commercial Hydroponics, you can get it as an ebook if your interested.

  • Do you have to change the water or just add more when needed? When is the time to add more nutrients? Great video!

  • You put is just a normal water? and what is that look like stone you put in your Net Pots to grow the plant??

  • @treeky3 u need the right amount of nutrients in the water- They make special hydroponic nutrients for this. find it on ebay

  • This is a great video, it really helped out as I am looking into hydroponics.

  • holesaws are the best for cutting holes, clean accurate & fast

  • hydroponics is a form of deep water cultivation

  • he doesnt say when he uses the pump?

  • Target acquired, yo.

  • wait.. doesn't this create root rot once the root have been heavily developed and are submerged down below the water?

  • You used peters all purpose plant food. If i am not mistaken Peters is fertilizer and not specially formulated for hydroponic systems. Is it safe for me to use Peters or anything similar to my hydroponic system? I noticed that the nutrients that you are using have a ratio of 20-20-20 isn't that ratio to high for some plants?

  • great video! very informative

  • thumbs up if your were just watching weed growing videos..

  • ha.. not bad..not bad

  • What kind of maintenance do you have to perform once the system is in place?

  • @tragicallyj92 You'd have to make sure that the water is high enough to get to the roots of your plants. Also that there is enough nutrients in the tubs to satisfy your plants. Make sure they don't get overly wet because you can get root rot.

  • I am currently growing bhut jalokia pepper plants, aka, The Ghost pepper. After watching this video, I have adopted your idea, an I am currently using this system. So far, I have seen far more then incredible results! Due to the Ghost pepper being one of the most difficult, and or more finicky plants to grow, At first, I was worried about water temperature, as optimal soil temperature should be at around 78-81 degrees Fahrenheit. Reg of this, they are growing amazingly well! Thx :D

  • @drillsgtlangdon That is awesome! Just read an article about the Ghost pepper. Good luck!

  • so to add H20 and nutrients you would...

  • Can you grow weed in this?

  • @necrolyptic yup

  • @necrolyptic yea

  • @necrolyptic You can grow EVERYTHING in this except Root Plants like Potatoes & stuff that forms underground. -But every other Vegetable , flower & herb- YES :)

  • @peacemakerpitbulls yes you can grow root plants hydroponically

  • @necrolyptic -_-

  • @necrolyptic yes

  • wondering about how long the nutrients last and how you replenish them?

  • That's amazing, but just wondering...after a while, would the chemicals from the plastic mix with the water, and your veggies?

  • @GeekElement im wondering that too...

  • I agree that creating the net pot holes is one of the toughest job to do. But, at least I know how to do now and I think I can manage for 2 holes... thank you for your video.

  • net pots are for plants. neti pots are for your nose. other than that, great DIY.

  • Oh and really good video it is sure to help with my science fair project a ton!

  • ok so one thing you never said who you ended up using the stone. So did you just sick it in the water or what?

  • a hole saw will make easy work of the holes.

  • Thanks. This is a well-done video. I did tomatoes outdoors hydroponically for a couple of years. Last year, the rain affected my mineral balance and I got blossom rot. I'm going to try lettuce and spinach indoors this winter using a system like this and florescent lights.

  • nice work

  • do you have a video of the plants in a later stage?

  • Use soldering Iron to cut plastic.

  • You sound like the guy from Hot Rod . js

  • this is very similar to the systems i build and use for medical marijuana plant cultivation. Very cool stuff!

  • And now you can enjoy your peppers. What do you do after you harvest? Rinse and repeat?

  • ooooHHHH TG STATION

  • hey bro did tht pump come with tubes

  • I have much experience with hydroponics and have a journal showing how to transfer soil plants into these systems. airoponics.blogspot.com

  • Thank you so much for this video! I'm such a novice, and this really helped!

  • duct tape will fix your bowing problem >.> just rape it around tight a couple times for reinforcement filmsy plastic =/

  • Thanks for the easy to follow instruction

  • so what's the best pump I can get?

  • 2:52 reminds me of homer simpson...

  • a true hydoponic system only wets the roots 5 minutes every hour(leaving the other 55 minutes for them to suck up oxygen) I would think this setup would just drown and chem burn your plants.

  • @riverlifeva It's deep water culture. I'm doing something similar with 5 gallon buckets and an 18 gallon resevoirs with fish... more of a deepwater aquaponics: growing veggies and fish to fry. Many possible ways to do hydroponics. This video is deep water culture which has great results.

As long as you keep your air pumps going the plants will not drown. Plants always has air/water/nutes and will thrive.

A larger water capacity will greatly reduce the PH and nute swings.

  • @deadman12078 I read on a website that this system wont yeild as good as a result as the "ebb and flow". Did you find this to be true? Also, if growing lettuce indoors did you buy a specific lamp or will a flourscent light do?

  • @itsjustdeb579 Aquaponics has it's drawbacks and benefits. aquaponics(.)net(.)au has some great info. I just started a test rig 2 months ago and I'm impressed with plant/root growth and all I'm putting in the water is fish food. Growing tobacco, tomato, and strawberries.

Deep water culture requires nothing fancy, just air pumps, water and nutes. PH and PPM have to be monitored closely. I'm using 26w CFL lights 6500k for vegging and 6500/2700k for flowering.

  • @itsjustdeb579 Last year I grew leaf lettuce, carrots, silvery fir tree tomatoes indoors with soil and they did great. With the same 2700/6500k lights staggered. As I watered I would rotate the plants so they would get a little of both spectrums.

Started DWC mid summer for fun and I can say output is about double that of soil.

My cousin grows hemp... He starts his plants with aquaponic/aeroponics than switches to ebb and flow for flowering. Many methods man. All depends on what best suits you

  • how long do you leave the air pump on a day?

  • @starkdog24 air pump you want to leave on all the time.

  • MJ is a great plant the LIE won't continue forever!!!

  • Looks really easy.. but i did not have the time or the tools to build my own so i ended up buying a SunLit Box.... Had everything that Beginners needed.. it showed me from start to finish how to grow.... Great system but just want to grow, not build a system. Just my 2 cents!

  • For about 10 bucks you can get a complete set of hole saws at harbor frieght that go almojsst as large as 5 inchs in diameter which will make making your holes so much easier and so much more precise. Great system I like the way you made your support structure.

  • Great video, thanks for the info....

  • how often do you change or replenish the nutrients ?

  • The Directory for everything green

  • The Garden Master, it appears, has taken the best of hydroponics gardening, organic gardening and has wrapped it up in a high bred container garden.

  • Hydro is only more water efficient than soil for large scale growing. For small number of plants hydro uses alot more water and is actually quite wastful compared to soil. Soil plants use as little as 500ml per day. With hydro system you have to have enough water just to cover the pump. YOu will find hydro is not more water efficient than soil on small grows only in commercial setups and those results are comparing it to fields being irrigated.

  • Where ıs the Fısh?

  • where can you get hydroton and rockwool?

  • Can someone please explain why you would spend so much money on hydroponics when you can just plant in the ground?? Sorry for being naive, i just don't understand the expense!

  • It grows much faster I think.

  • @ImDaveCrazy I dont know much about ıt but ıts Much healtıer and ıts organıc and somethıng wıth lıke no pestıcıdes or somethıng and theres a extended versıon where you can raıse fısh aswell

  • That is a fantastic mod to the tub. I love the sprayer set up.

I found a bucket system on newearth.com that I would love to get your opinion on.

  • Spend way less with The Bucket Garden and with even better results for organic vegetables. Highest production and quality-Ted Hallett, The Garden Master

  • haha growing pepers upgrade to weed thats what u use a Hydroponic for dumb ass

  • At first I thought it wouldn't need to be in such a deep container but then I remembered the roots will grow longer. Great vid!

  • never seen a PERFECT CIRCLE!

  • Nice video well illustrated thanks man!

  • OMG how many ppl smoke weed here goodness gracious we need food too! but oh well whatever makes your day even if it makes you burn in hell! cmon.

  • WTF . I came here for weed . Not food . The food on here is for the munchiezzzz :)

  • Awesome video.

I'll probably try something similar one of these days, but I'll prob use different containers. I also wonder if the plants eventually got too heavy for that lid.

  • I came to this vid because of a weed vid suggestion.

  • Sorry but to slow for me.

  • Peppers or tomatoes....RIIIGHHTT haha

  • awsome!

  • how long do we let the pump work

  • @hayworth111 thats a 24 hour thing man. And one thing he didnt mention is that you want to get rid of that water every 7-10days and replace with fresh water and new nutrients. Also when emptying container, remember to clean it. With warm water and a towel to clear out any remaining things from last water. ANy other questions about hydroponics message me!!

  • I kinda worry about the tubs leaching god knows what kinda chemicals into the liquid, and thus into your plants. Any thoughts?

  • @Rdtrip2Europa

Make sure you use food grade plastic tote boxes and you'll be good to go.

  • I use Mighty Crobes Compost Tea whenever I grow hydro. Check out Mighty Crobes .com for the best results. Your roots will EXPLODE!

  • Sir, how often do you add grow solution to the system?

  • Looks good!

  • nice and clear

    thank you

  • i used this on a marijuna plant and it works great. though my plant died afterward -.-

  • @jumboj92 why?

  • @hippiebrit i guess i apllied too much miracle growth to the water and somehow my plants didnt grow, they just died :(

  • I'm not sure if i missed it but how often should the air pump be turned on per day, or is it continuous? Also do you know how much energy it uses on average per week?

  • I have worked with a company on getting set up they have a great website and great prices. I cant add dot com to the end of the website name so just tack on dot com at the end of the company name. Purelyhydroponic add dot com

  • Does the bulge in box, and having to zip tie solution, is that not done for every inspection? Could you use double tubs to shore up bulge?

  • has anybody tried the 8 part nutrients like the canna range with the individual elements. i haven't been able to find equipment for measuring the individual elements. for domestic hydroponics i have not seen equipment for measuring the individual elements and cf meters don't tell you individual nutrient levels. what do commercial hydroponic factories use.

  • couple newby questions please reply(weed growing)

will the pea soil stuff work for weed too?

and, is weed suppposed to get sunlight i've heard that you're supposed to keep certaint ones dark?

  • heh heh..we yeah..im not growing no fuggin peppers REEFER

  • @gamingpwner420 _ LOFL

  • weed ? :D

  • @damphier14 i think 5 out of 10 people watching this will grow weed :)

  • Is it just me but the spacing of these plants is really tight. I bet half of those plants will die before giving any fruit. I would put no more than six holes for peppers or tomatoes or anything else ;) on those lids. There are large plants and then there are small plants; this system might be perfect for lettuce, though.

  • Try using hydroton instead of peagravel

  • Can you start from seeds

  • @AegisfangLakshmi08 you cant get a holesaw that big just anywhere....

  • this is the first time im telling people this on youtube so this is a big deal and you should keep reading

i wanted to bring the community together and help improve it,so i figured what brings people together...FOOD! so i started a community garden. and ive just found out from a phone call today im getting free hydroponics kits from a company to use for making a indoor community garden. now you may be asking "why are you telling me this?"

    -

  • @multigunlover well because i plan on showing how the hydroponics system works from a professional company on youtube. and even show you how to build your own. there are things in this video he hasnt mentioned that he should have. and i will fill those holes with my videos :D

  • to smooth them use a drimall

  • you suck

  • Not bad for the basics and budget. Put those babies under HPS and they will grown even quicker as with the power bill.

  • tote tub!

  • Does the tub have to be that deep? It looked to me like you had wasted space/solution with that deep a tub. Really appreciated the details. Hydroponics is the future.

  • Never wash the roots.... start in something else...

  • Thanks for making this video. I really enjoyed it. Are your plants too close together now that the plants are much larger?

  • fucking stoners

  • not really for beginners ehh !!??

  • do you have to replace the water/ mixture solution?

  • dremel tool is your friend for cutting the holes

  • You got a lot of time on your hands!

  • Do you have to keep on adding water and fertilizer? if yes how often?

  • Dave Ramsey, from finance tips to grow tips.

  • thank you send me answer and one more thing is i saw your all purpose plant food 20 20 20 is that one time put into the water basket or how long plant food will refill on it?

  • @airloo If you've got the aerator going all the time, there shouldn't be any algae or bacteria growth.

  • @free6006 It's just regular water, with plant food added. Get a ph tester, if the ph gets too high, there's an additive that you can use (one brand name is 'ph down') to fix that.

  • @trojanshawaii Sure. Just drill a bunch of holes in the cups so the water flows through easily.

  • nice this video has helped me out alot.. I've watched about 10x lol but need more details about the nutrients. any suggestions? is the water ever changed?

  • how long does the nutrient solution last you. nice video! thanks for posting.

  • do you know how to start from seeds

  • you sound like yur name might be dustin, or taylor, or hunter..what is your name?

  • @RaySebr cus

thats not a questions a cop would ask

  • @Thedeviant32 no its not u piece of shit face !!!

  • @RaySebr is this where I reply calling you a dick sucking dumbass?

  • @Thedeviant32 why dont you GO CRAWL BACK IN YOUR MOTHERS ASS, U RETARDED FUKBOY

  • you shod try Aquaponic

  • how do you drain and refill the system?

  • You have a golden voice

  • could you put all the links from ebay were you got it on here so i can find it plz thnx i tried to find thr stuff but i struggled

  • hey dude, awesome video!

Question: Is there any reason the containers are so huge? The container doesn't need to hold that much water does it?

If anybody can answer, thank you very much.

  • 23 people are hydrophobic

  • thanks i used this setup for beefsteak tomatoes they were perfect

  • would it be wise to put some sort of drain valve for replacing the water? also should we concider letting the water sit for 24 hours before use to let the chlorine out

  • Your voice sounds like an old friend of mine Steve...

  • In the future, maybe double or triple stacking 18-gallon tubs would minimize bulging from the water?

  • great video i'm off to grow chillis

  • wow my unit is sooo much better than these things, stack two units, cut a hole in one side for air bubbles to rise, you can also put a submersible heater, and an ultrasonic fog generator and you get the sweetest nutrient film hydroponic unit...

  • how big does the net pot need to be to grow weed?

  • A 3" hole saw attachment would have made a even and precise hole. For future reference.

  • use a hole saw dude simple cheap and perfect

  • it might be easier to make those holes with a dremmel.

  • I could not find peter's professional ANYWHERE!!!!
