  • M E R A V I G L I O S O !!!!!!!!!

  • going to Bristol in March.....going to "the hill" and guess what music I'll be listening to! My favourite song and I'll be in the place.

  • @chaletdweller Sweet...:)

  • GREAT, PETER GABRIEL!

  • How is this song not optimistic, OldEchoes? If what I've heard is correct, this song is about Peter Gabriel pursuing a new chapter of his life after leaving Genesis. Seems pretty optimistic to me. Nercrophage is right. There isn't enough heart and raw emotion in music anymore. The pop stars out there today have other intentions, such as money and fame. I bet half of the time they don't even know what they're singing about!

  • like the transition at 3:01

  • Does anyone know what gig this is from, and if it's avalible on blu-ray or dvd?

I would love to get a good copy of this on the home theatre system!

  • This is my favorite version of this song. Right after my grandmothers funeral as I was getting in my car to drive it off the big hill where the graveside service was, this song started playing. It sticks with me to this day, almost 20 years ago. What a great song, it made the day a little brighter.

  • how can you not like this? this is amazing.

  • This is the English Bruce Springsteen, full of emotions!

  • fantastic performance, ;)

  • The RIFF of Eternity. The RIFF of joy. The RIFF of Liberty. The RIFF of Decision.

    The RIFF of Life.

  • Yeah back home When illusion spin her net I'm never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes, but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me Today I don't need a replacement I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart was going boom boom boom "Hey," I said, "You can keep my things, they've come to take me home."
  • Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice I did not believe the information Just had to trust imagination My heart was going boom boom, boom "Son," he said, "Grab your things, I've come to take you home."
  • I know this song is about Peter Gabriel leaving Genesis, but I prefer to take it at face value. He made it for what it means to him. I play it for what it means to me. It's awesome either way. :)

  • "And liberty she pirouette when I think that I am free." Classic!

  • Desperate to go to see him live!! Simply brillant!! Thanks for posting!

  • I can See in alot if ways where he was comin from in the lyrics deciding to leave genises(spelling) example show u wat the smile in my face meant was in my opinon when he left he was smiling cus they thought he wouldn't do anything other than genisis.... there's too many examples to explane

  • This song is about him leaving genesis. Beatiful lyrics

  • fantastic voice. . .competent musicians. . .

  • I've loved this song forever. The video excels in ways I ddin't think possible.

  • ,,,,,,,,,,, YOU ARE FUCKIN-WRIGHT!!!!!

  • isn't the skin the king crimson bassist?

  • @edo8200 In-deed.

  • Even if there is nothing in the after here. Even if all there really is at the end nothing but ashes to ashes and dust to dust. Once in a while. Now and then I feel the spirit move. I can't explane it. It just happens like right HERE and NOW !

  • How does he sing so well when he is moving around so much? He is not lip singing so... what the hell

  • @rwdtk000000 he's Peter Gabriel.....

  • @rwdtk000000 Look whet she could do: ?v=BMdQNPGL-Ds or ?v=WWj9tyUiC3U or ?v=IJ-m8nv2SrA (holding microphone in hand!)... ah, better watch the entire concert. Search for Ket Bush live at Hammersmith Odeon.

  • @0raj11 Aha, and if you had to watch only one, then Kate's "James and the Cold Gun" is a must: ?v=GtnXAPIMh5w

  • Only person who can use a microphone headset without looking like stupid is Peter Gabriel

  • @rwdtk000000 No, the VERY first person who was using the headset on stage and looked great with this was Kate Bush. However, Peter Gabriel is something of a male version of Kate Bush, so no wonder... ;)

  • Gabriel is the Effen Pied Piper of Rock and Roll ! Look at his antics on the runway ! Look at the crowd ! Unbelievable !

  • This is about the breakup from Genesis or???

  • @NoDestinyLive4Now yes and Peter's thoughts about a new start

  • Look at the crowd jumping! I love it!

  • 5 dislikes?!?! what ? are the on some bad acid or something? sheeish . it takes all kinds

  • Superb , brilliant fantastic !

  • i feel like i shouldn't like this, but i do. i like it a lot. if that makes sense. lol

  • one of the greatest live performances i have ever viewed :)

  • AWESOME!

  • Look at these guys, running around, dancing, and they have those huge smiles on their faces, you know they're having fun, enjoying making the music, doing their own thing. THAT is what its all about, not money, not perfection but enjoying the miracle that is music, expressing yourself, and just doing your own thing. If more people realized this we would have more Peter Gabriels, and Pink Floyds and Gensis...es(?) rather than nickelbacks and three days graces...

  • @Nercrophage Preferably more Peter Gabriels and Pink Floyds and much, much less Genesis.

  • Saw them in LA..fun! Awesome!

  • Hello everyone, if you love this one from the Secret world tour of 1994, you may want to favorite some others done in Modena. May I suggest "In your eyes "" (you'll fall in love with Paula Cole) " and of course "secret world" This triple play will make you feel really good. I think you"ll find yourself coming back to them over and over and loving them more and more. Enjoy yourselves, Peace.

  • very funny consert

  • November 16th or 17th, 1993 in Palasport Nuovo, Modena, Italy. The DVD is "Secret World Live" (released September 1994). Hope that helps.

  • Does anyone know when and where this concert took place? Brilliant song and brilliant artist!

  • good vibrations!

  • good virbations!

  • This video, or the ones from the "Growing Up" tour.. these guys always look like they are having FUN playing to the Crowd! Gabriel and the guys give 110% to the Audience! I don't think ANYONE I have ever heard of, who went to one of their shows, ever thought they didn't get their moneys worth!!

  • why play it if you dont like it p////

  • I have favoritted this song.

This tune gives me that something extra in writing. It reminds me of what this journey is all about.

I thank you for loading this up...

  • i saw peter as a younge teenager at the age of 17 on his last tour with genisis.he was then and still is one of the greatist performers that ever lived.this song is one of my favorite songs in my long life of 52 years.thank you peter gabreil for lifting my spirit up during hard times like now.anyone who doesn't like peter gabreil is just dead to love.when peter dies a part of me will die.

  • "Son" he said. "Grab your things, I've come to take you home.".

  • I seen you in Earls Court Landann in the early 90s you brought the house down

Peter Gabriel was the number 1 an still is..What a showman

  • Here's one of the most memorable moments in my life. Gabriel sat on my lap at a concert bowl in Maple Leaf Gardens when I was 17. He had just left Genesis... Such an incredible moment for me...

  • The three dislikes were from Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks....

    Heh!

  • The bass player is Tony levin and what a player he is!! He plays for king crimson too

  • Always love songs with eagles in them !

  • That vest makes me go 'boom boom boom'.

  • A man with no inhibitions = one brilliant performer.

  • whos the bald bass player?

  • @pastyhead80 I believe his name is Tony Levine, but I could be wrong. I do know he has been with Peter a long time.

  • @pastyhead80 Tony Levin

  • Love this song, Peters trousers are a tad on the tight side, perhaps its got something to do with hitting the high notes!

  • @bumbacarl you are so stupid

  • @bumbacarl.... well, for guys like YOU, there's always "Justin Bieber"!! LOL!!

  • @bumbacarl you are without a doubt the most stupid person I have ever met!

  • @bumbacarl I've seen U2, Page & Plant, The Who, The Eagles, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Ozzfest...and of them all, the single most memorable concert was Peter Gabriel, THIS Gabriel, this era and it's aerobics-and-wireless sensibilities. When he rolled out in a giant see-through ball, like a musical hamster, the audience felt as if we were the ones bouncing around and having a ball...sorry... But seriously, PG's live shows are art, aerobics, dance, music, and conversation all in one. Peace!

  • @bumbacarl

for good or bad twas the days when energy and live music was all there was on stage, no backing dancers, no screens, no special effects..............was pretty good, look at the audience that was there on the night

  • @bumbacarl not! It is a celebration, period. However, you are entitled to your own opinion.

  • Czech and briefly you " KOKOT " !!!

  • @bumbacarl

    Do it!

  • @bumbacarl ....... really dude? Did you have to ruin the vid like that?

  • Simply the best video of this song on Youtube .. thank you for posting !

  • WOW! Best Live Performance of a Song, EVER!!

  • my hair on my neck still stands on end hearing this tune.. after years of listening .. one of the most underrated tunes ever!!!

  • Fantastic version of an all time favourite. Great !!!

  • Saw Gabriel's first solo tour at the Montreal Forum from the 3rd row, when this song was brand spanking new and it was phenomenal. As I understand it, he only did encores in two cities on that tour - Montreal and Chicago. The house lights were up, music was playing and the crowd refused to leave... He had to play this song again because he didn't have any more material.

I saw this tour too but nothing tops that first time...

  • Only Peter Gabriel could go skipping around the stage like a little kid and still manage to look cool. Awsome Stuff!!

  • toh! guarda chi è il pelatino che suona! tony levin!

  • looks a bit like mel gibson

  • Probably the happiest song ever recorded.

  • how could 3 people on this earth actually not like this? Are they insane??? fucking phenomenal!

  • @JewelAngel Because they don't get it. But, hey, it's ok. To each their own. This is one of my all time favorites.

  • Mindblowing!

  • Saw Peter a few months ago on his New Blood Tour.

  • It's so fun

  • Perfect performance. Love it.

  • Wow- still a classic. Maybe better than the GROWING UP tour version....

Uncle Tony on stick, Dr. Rhodes on Steinberger and Peter really putting on a show..... Mr Gabriel helped me get through my wife's death and my own brain tumor. I'm right there with you Lausterek- this song could cheer up a rock!

  • Excellent video footage. Love this song!

  • I can be in the downest mood and hear this song and it just cheers me right up!

  • Comment removed

  • @laustererk

I think it's the best ever version of that number and his enthusiasm still shines through , like other older artists they seem to add sparkle to numbers that they personally enjoy performing, and not wishing to detract from Gabriel in any way , Elton John does the same with Tiny Dancer and I have a favourite 'Live' version of that as well !

  • me 2 lol i love this song

  • I can be in the worse mood ever and here this song and good feelings just come on!

  • god I love this man

  • great bass slide at 1:02 :-)

  • Manu Katché à la batterie ;)

  • i love how loud you can play this lol :P

  • Fantastic tune

  • Great Performance! I think this is the greatest summer-time song ever! It just makes me think of hanging out with a bunch of friends and having a good time, like those party scenes in movies where random music starts and everybody dances for no reason. I admit...if this song started playing at a party...I would definitely do the dances they're doing in this video with a bunch of my friends.

  • Not to mention, something about seeing Tony Levin skipping puts a fat smile on my face. :)

  • The happiest song ever written! LOVE IT!

  • Funny, that's how I dance after a load of beers too. BRILLIANT

  • Drummer is Manu Katche.

Enter his mane in Youtube and you'll find some videos of him.

    He's good.

  • トニー・レヴィンさん、本当に人が良さそう

  • love that dance :D

  • This is an unbelieveably wonderful performance of this song! Peter Gabriel has always had talent off the charts. I wonder who the drummer is in this version...he is extraordinary! Everything about this makes me want to see this over and over!

  • @ ZephyrsDream le batteur c est manu catché

  • This song always feels like coming home. Puts me in the best mood!

  • Awesome to see Mel Gibson & G. Gordon Liddy on the same stage!

  • One of my favorite songs, can you imagine listening to this song on your i-pod and seeing a bald eagle circling overhead. It happened to me this morning while walking down a country road. Quite an exhilarating experience, M!y heart was going boom-boom-boom!!! ...and then i skipped all the way home.

  • @LightninStruck My God! I thought it was exhilarating before seeing your comment, but that must have been miraculous .Lucky you ! A positive message, no doubt.

  • Love the song & the dance. (:-P

  • Wow, great song and performance!! :D

  • Go on, if you had to be someone other than yourself, this is it!

  • Has to be one of the world's best song intro's...

  • Great song , great video quality and sound .. cant get any better .. thank you !

  • this is such an awesone song! :)

  • Secret world is one of the greatest live performance ever

In 1993 before the tour, Gabriel made a surprise concert as a ''test'' in a 2000 place theatre named the ''Spectrum'' in Montreal, qc.... My dad won tickets with the CHOM 97.7 radio station and I went with him, I was 11... the show was incredible, One of the most enjoyable moment in a lifetime

  • @Barnakos Long live CHOM 97.7, I live in QC and I listen to them all the time!

  • Where are the lyrics?

    The song is a masterpiece!!!!

  • Wow!!!!

  • Mel Gibson?...this is Peter Gabriel...lol

  • God Save the West! Spread the word, or this kind of talent and creativity will be no more.

  • It's no coincidence that members of Genesis just happen to write some of the best music ever heard.

  • carnt b beet pure class

  • lets campain for a summer release !!!!!

  • How is it that some guys can skip (yes, actually SKIP...who's done that since they were 10?)around a stage & NOT look stupid? I just want to join them!

  • The stage is your own Pete

  • always a great show!

  • bellissima canzone!!!!

  • I didn't know Mel Gibson could sing.

  • Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel (live)

  • Manu Katche FUCK YEAH \o/

  • this song is about Peter Gabriel deciding to leave Genesis, beautiful song in 7/4 timing, not too common in popular music

  • @masternate61 there was some great talent in that band

  • This is my favorite song every time i hear this song i m touched

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely want this to be the last song at my funeral! And it's in 7/4 time, too.
