The chemical imbalance allows seemingly everyday stressors like a dysfunctional family overwhelm them. (Many also have a history of sexual or emotional abuse.) Anorexia and bulimia (EDNOS, orthorexia, and overeating) can be a situational response but it's not just some spoiled brat getting carried away with their vanity. You cannot will yourself into an eating disorder without being predisposed.

it symbolizes to be strong and be on top you need strength ie the hand has to use energy to put the person on top of the bar, however its easy for a person to fall since no energy is needed ie the hand is removed.
I find it odd that they followed the book in nearly every respect, but changed the character of Pia completely. Pia was a poet and a positive influence, and Shelly didn't even consider herself truly anorexic. The 'pro ana' websites didn't factor in at all, and the other eating disorder patients weren't proud.
I first saw this movie when it premiered on Lifetime back in 2003. It was okay, but quite sad. So sad to see this family fall apart after Shelly died. :(
I seriously cried when she went to the hospital and sat down with the anorexics....and asked them who ed was...this movies is the best so far! its not triggering to me...I think b/c the sister is telling the story.

it symbolizes to be strong and be on top you need strength ie the hand has to use energy to put the person on top of the bar, however its easy for a person to fall since no energy is needed ie the hand is removed.

I find it odd that they followed the book in nearly every respect, but changed the character of Pia completely. Pia was a poet and a positive influence, and Shelly didn't even consider herself truly anorexic. The 'pro ana' websites didn't factor in at all, and the other eating disorder patients weren't proud.

I first saw this movie when it premiered on Lifetime back in 2003. It was okay, but quite sad. So sad to see this family fall apart after Shelly died. :(

I seriously cried when she went to the hospital and sat down with the anorexics....and asked them who ed was...this movies is the best so far! its not triggering to me...I think b/c the sister is telling the story.
