  • Usually check the dist. cap (removed) with wires attached. If Ohm readings are within Ohms/ft. per plug wire manufaturer, the cap is probably ok.

Sometimes the valves seat themselves into the seat thus increasing lifter preload, and causing premature wear or lifter damage, etc. What is the vacuum at idle ? Times have changed since the shooting of a lame horse.

  • what is this cap? can you be a little more specific on what needed to be replaced

  • looks like bath points or a valve spring

  • yeah i can hear it

  • Timings way off!

  • didint you see what peejaa told him to do? Changeing the D cap!!!! and the thing Runnns like a Dream!! ..lol

  • Lol yeah i guess i didnt watch the whole video before commenting. Nor did i read the discription lol.

  • any mods? I SAW headers! are those flowmaster 40's i hear?

  • just long tube headers and i think 40 series flowmaster on a stock rebuilt 302. they were put on by the previous owner so i'm not totally sure.

  • could you post another vid on the exhaust and the overall car?

  • yeah, i'll see what i can do

  • Ours is the same so a new genuine Ford cap will be the answer, Thanks for posting this.

  • sounds bad ass after the new cap

  • is the timing off?

  • couldn't check it since there isn't a timing reference bolted to the block. peejaa got it right, there was carbon tracking in the cap like i posted in the description.

  • follow me and youll never go wrong! :)

  • is a mexican engine???, nice mustang anyway!!!

  • beat if ya look at your old cap youll see cracks from the coil lead or from one of the posts! the spark will follow the crack and make it miss fire!. and its cool it works now HAVE FUN :)

  • Thats OK thanks for posting.

  • im only 15. a cleveland worked engine had a problem it was missfiring and then eventually no iol pressure at the first cylinder fixed it then ran the new parts in but with a used camshaft probaly 2 years old so i removed the rocker cover checked for the right cycle and revealed the first rocker arm was not levering which lead to me hoping it was the push rod but then after it not being i romoved waterpump distubutor and pulled the camshaft out and revealed a lobe missing from the camshaft.

  • whoa man thats sounds pretty bad. was the lobe missing in the beggining or did it break off in the motor? if it did break in the motor that would suck balls eh?
