First of all Dio was, is and always will be the best.
As I notice this 2001 video and comparing it to 2003 when I saw live Ronnie in Athens I see that he was loosing weight and that gorgeous voice , singing lower and in slower tempo. Nevertheless he was still, to the end great. It is so shame that he found out so late of his cancer. He could still be among us and write songs and sing.
Hah.. Great memories! I attended this very concert at Trägårn in Gothenburg and clearly rember this stunt;-D Mr Dee had hoisted a few, by the looks of it . And being semi-drunk, he wasn't keen on getting behind the drums at first. He laughed and pointed to his beer, meaning he was to pissed to play straight, or something to that effect.
It took a few rounds of persuation from RjD plus the crowd chanting M-i-ickey Dee-e!, M-i-ickey Dee-e!, Mi-ickey Dee-e! on RJD's command before he succumbed to the pressure and jumped onstage. I mean he is a son of this city after all:-D and the crowd was very thrilled as I recall it! If you listen good you can hearing speeding up quite a bit during the intro and not nailing the fills to say the least. But its good playing for being drunk and not really knowing the song beforehand. Mickey Dee!!
Mmmm, quan era jovenet el DIO era com una veu paterna que em donava consells a través del walkman... Esclar que m'aconsellava matar dracs i trobar tresors!!!
i looked up this video for mikkey dee but honestly i am blown away by dios voice and this is a crap quality live video. even on crap quality the old geezer was still on point 100%, months up until he died the guy was still perfection. that to me says so much about the guys passion for this shit
Nothing's in the past...I was heading into 10th grade and Heaven and Hell was for sale at the guitar shop I worked at. This song's still around Dio lives and such as are the times, I'm a mean old fucking Nazi. Keep bringing the pain, Ronnie.
Sabbath's best and most creative days was when they had RJD...easily. I saw Sabbath on Mob Rules (Live Evil) tour and it was a brilliant fucking concert. I saw Ozzy on Ultimate sin tour with Metallica opening (Master of Puppets). Metallica blew Ozzy away and people who compare Ozzy with Dio are in a serious state of denial. Ozzy's sound was all distorted and fucked up whereas Metallica's sound was crisp and LOUD. Anyhoo, those were the good old days when metal was badass, not like nu-metal.
thumbs up if you think this is the best combination ever :)
