The future CAN be seen, I see it all the time and then I watch it happen. I've been doing this since I was a child. I can also through remote viewing travel into the past and space and I can attach myself to specific locations in these 2 realms; bringing my consciousness into that place. Moving back in time absolutely DOES NOT violate every law of physics. From MOST mathematical and physical perspectives, the extra dimension provides a full degree of movement. You can reverse virtually ANY equation and it still works. Only thermodynamics and entropy studies pose challenges on a observational level, but that has NOTHING at all to do with violation of LAWS of physics.

This is a shit video, dimension is a mathematical construct much more general than you explain and there are several different notions of dimension depending on context.
Saying things such as "the hyper dimensions are like a bridge between the physical and metaphysical" is not helpful. Dimension is a purely mathematical concept, and should be thought of as so, the "dimensions of reality" are based solely on our mathematical model of what reality is.

As I said, it's a mathematical concept which has a few forms (e.g. Hausdorff dimension, topological dimension....) but in all, it aims to describe local complexity in some sense, i.e. how many independent ways you can move about if you lived in the space in question. I don't agree that the fourth dimension is not a spacial dimension. I don't believe that time is a dimension and science has this wrong. I believe the fourth dimension is easy to visualize and defines the amount of space the building blocks of matter take up. This implies an aether and that the aether may be considered as the 4th dimension. The energy particles that make up the aether have no fixed size and are dependent on mass. This shows up as time slowing down when near massive bodies.

Image a very long ruler that spanned across the universe and each interval was marked evenly, say one meter. When that ruler was close to a big mass, the intervals would expand. When light travels down that ruler, it appears that time is slowing down, but it is only because of a none linear ruler. Know what I mean?

The physics parts of this video are incorrect. Physics describes quantities using tensor fields of different ranks, but the rank of a tensor has nothing to do with its dimension. You can have a tensor field of any rank in a space of any dimension. For example, vectors can be one, two, three, or four-dimensional depending on circumstances. The dimensionality is the number of possible orthogonal directions. The rank of a tensor is how many vectors it acts on; they're different and unrelated.

We can take dimension x and make distance change with distance, such as x^2, we go one inch, we measure 1inch. in the next inch we measure 4 inches. then 9, 16, 25. 36, 49, 64... That is distance changing with distance. so if you want 5 dimensions, just look at an object acceleration, x,y,z,t^2.
My reading of relativity leads me to another perspective on dimensions. Distance changes with distance. If you were to take a radial from a black hole, as you approach the black hole,space is stretched more the closer you get (as seen from a distant observer). So you have two dimensions in what appears to be one dimension. Time slows as you approach a black hole, you have time changing with time or two dimensions. we have 4 dimension and have yet to discuss dimensions y and z.

Could not colour,texture,weight,sound,smell..etc, be considered individual dimensions? These qualities that describe a visual object are as unique as H x W x D x T. Just because they cannot easily be mathmatically expressed does not disqualify these properties....imho.

Lightly put... too misinformed. 1) A tensor rank has nothing to do to its dimension. You can have a tensor rank 1 of say, 100 dimensions. A tensor rank 2 would be a matrix, etc... 2) The fourth dimension IS NOT time, it's just a dimension. The space-time model uses 4 dimensions as a TOOL because it simplifies some computations, not because the 4th dimension is time. 3) Imaginary numbers are as real as the "real" numbers, and have nothing to do with metaphysics 4) dammit! ran out of space...

Moving back in time absolutely DOES NOT violate every law of physics. From MOST mathematical and physical perspectives, the extra dimension provides a full degree of movement. You can reverse virtually ANY equation and it still works. Only thermodynamics and entropy studies pose challenges on a observational level, but that has NOTHING at all to do with violation of LAWS of physics.
It is currently (as of mid 2011) UNKNOWN whether the laws of physics can allow backwards time travel.

This is a shit video, dimension is a mathematical construct much more general than you explain and there are several different notions of dimension depending on context.
Saying things such as "the hyper dimensions are like a bridge between the physical and metaphysical" is not helpful. Dimension is a purely mathematical concept, and should be thought of as so, the "dimensions of reality" are based solely on our mathematical model of what reality is.

@jamma246 Oh, and you starting by saying "there is a lot of confusion out there about dimensions" is massively ironic given that you totally overcomplicated the notion of dimension. As I said, it's a mathematical concept which has a few forms (e.g. Hausdorff dimension, topological dimension....) but in all, it aims to describe local complexity in some sense, i.e. how many independent ways you can move about if you lived in the space in question. This video is very unhelpful.

If this scholar started to talk about superstring theory I would have developed a hernia, his videos are addicting though keep it up. This guy is incredible but for a more basic knowledge of science I recommend Kaku Michio "Physics of the impossible," Any thought of force fields, robots, dimensions, and even time travel is discussed immensely.
Time travel is a mind boggling topic, and its not just the math. If it were possible, truth would be nearly impossible to know. Time for another Joint.

I'm thinking that just as the notion of time breaks down at the moment of the big bang, so would idea of space (3D), and matter with it. To say "before" the big bang there was "nothing" is a nonsensical statement. love the vids. :)

I don't agree that the fourth dimension is not a spacial dimension. I don't believe that time is a dimension and science has this wrong. I believe the fourth dimension is easy to visualize and defines the amount of space the building blocks of matter take up. This implies an aether and that the aether may be considered as the 4th dimension. The energy particles that make up the aether have no fixed size and are dependent on mass. This shows up as time slowing down when near massive bodies.

@9hello123 What I am saying is that the slowing down of time is a direct consequence of the 4th dimension. You can choose time as the 4th dimension and you can predict plenty of things sure, I am not disputing that time works OK as a 4th dimension, but it also makes the theory of every an impossible task to solve. The reason they choose time was because light travels as a constant speed, correct, so time must slow down, true yes it does, but time is not the 4th dimension.

@9hello123 Think about this, the speed of light is constant, true, but what if the ruler that measures space is not linear and is dependent on mass? Do you get what I mean? Image a very long ruler that spanned across the universe and each interval was marked evenly, say one meter. When that ruler was close to a big mass, the intervals would expand. When light travels down that ruler, it appears that time is slowing down, but it is only because of a none linear ruler. Know what I mean?

I'm a physicist. I mentioned one particular problem with this video in another comment, but in general this video is the work on someone who has learned the buzzwords and read a couple of popular books, but does not really understand the mathematics behind advanced physics. Except for the basic facts of complex numbers, everything said here is incorrect. Please do not treat this video as an insightful introduction to concepts in physics.

The physics parts of this video are incorrect. Physics describes quantities using tensor fields of different ranks, but the rank of a tensor has nothing to do with its dimension. You can have a tensor field of any rank in a space of any dimension. For example, vectors can be one, two, three, or four-dimensional depending on circumstances. The dimensionality is the number of possible orthogonal directions. The rank of a tensor is how many vectors it acts on; they're different and unrelated.

Try looking at d/t^x.
d/t^0 is position
d/t^1 is speed
d/t^2 is acceleration
d/t^3 is the jerk
d/t^4 I don't know what it is called....
This is multiple time dimensions.
We can take dimension x and make distance change with distance, such as x^2, we go one inch, we measure 1inch. in the next inch we measure 4 inches. then 9, 16, 25. 36, 49, 64... That is distance changing with distance. so if you want 5 dimensions, just look at an object acceleration, x,y,z,t^2.

My reading of relativity leads me to another perspective on dimensions. Distance changes with distance. If you were to take a radial from a black hole, as you approach the black hole,space is stretched more the closer you get (as seen from a distant observer). So you have two dimensions in what appears to be one dimension. Time slows as you approach a black hole, you have time changing with time or two dimensions. we have 4 dimension and have yet to discuss dimensions y and z.
