  • Thank for posting this. I remember that song. Jimmy Ienner was once of the singer. We both graduated with the class of 63. He could run too. He was one of the fast 100 yard runners SHS ever had. Love you all,

    June

  • I must have been looking in the wrong place! Was this a local hit? So many DJ's have never heard of it!

  • No..No..And looking to move south soon...

  • Witness protection program, no names. you must have won ,I'm a lousey pool shooter.

  • @mrstillakid Too bad! I don't remember who won but I am not very good either. If you are the one I knew, you were really cute but shortly after you got back together with your girlfriend and that was that. Are you still playing music? Professionally? Are you still in Stamford?

  • @atorbs, if the bobby you knew sang bass for the Group Called Us , then I'm the one .

  • @mrstillakid Are you comfortable using last names on this site? You probably do not remember me but we played pool at my house once.

  • EXCELLENT!

    5*****.

    Jennie.

  • OMG!!! What a GREAT song! Thanks for posting!

  • To Accessamerica, they were never called "The group called US". The mistake is that we were both from Stamford Ct. and their tenor Jimmy Ienner was our manager.

They were a great bunch of guys with a hell of a sound, and its been our pleasure to know them..Bob, bass of "The Group Called US"

  • @mrstillakid

Is this Bobby who I knew for PoPos in stamford???

  • If I remember way back when the original group name was call " A group Call US" it was changed to the Barons and from Stamford this was the only record at that time and was played only locally.

    I am from CT

aka Charlie Tuna ha ha :)

  • Good God. I haven't heard this song in 47 years. When this song first began to hit the airwaves back in '63 I went into my favorite record shop and asked for it. They hadn't heard of it yet and when I sang it for them they looked at me as if I had ten heads. It eventually came in and I think I was the only person to buy a copy.

  • GREAT!

  • Like the sound

  • Aún conservo intacto un 45 rpm igual. En la otra cara está el tema "No te vayas" (don't go away). Recuerdos de lolo.

  • My Dad is the drummer

  • Great song. I am from CT. and never knew until now that the group was from my state.

  • LOVE THIS - fantastic song by a great group! Thanks for posting it!

  • There is so much stuff I find on YT that I never heard of and yes, it's free advertisement. Costing me a fortune tho. Had I not heard it on YouTube, would have saved me money. Guess my wife will have to work a few extra years.

Btw, great post and another one I've never heard. Thanks for sharing.

  • my brother, tommy fowler, was an original baron. they used to practice in our basement on seaside ave in the cove. and yes, the barons did record possibilty under the name of the crowns on old towne records

  • Jimmy was Stamford High School, class of 1963. In 1998 he was inducted in the Stamford High School Wall of Fame. Noted for his professional achievements and charitable contributions locally. Jimmy was raised in the Cove section of Stamford.

  • The Barons have that great Earls sound. They recorded under the name of the Crowns in the 60's and had a commercial hit called Possibility,

  • The Barons were from Stamford, CT....The lead singer was Jimmy Ienner, who went on to be one of the biggest record producers and executives in the music industy; google his name and check it out.....Stamford High School product.

  • Cute song. I don't see what is all this hullabulloo about copywrite when people are just advertising their songs and making people AWARE of them, when otherwise in many cases people would never get to hear these gems!!! I'm sure it's inspired many people who see them to purchase a CD, They should be PAYING US! Keep em coming, man, Great song!!

  • I agree that this is really free promotion for the record companies. I simply do this to share my rare 45's with the world. Some of them are available on cd and my posting them does not substitute someone going out and buying it on cd. It may persuade someone to seek it out, too. Also, the sound quality on here is not as good as on cd's especially when I dub original vinyl (compared to cds using master tapes) so i don't see what the record companies' big deal is. They need to lighten up!

  • @TopshelfTom Amen friend...most of the sides I hear here haven't even ever been reissued by the labels, so I wish they'd leave things be

  • The flip side of this disc is dont go away pretty little girl an awsome song, Ron

  • *****- love this song doowop

  • Underestimated band and song, I love the sound of this record. I think they were a bit ahead of their time because of the sound. This song should have been covered from some of british bands in 1963-1964, this song has just the beat. Damn, I'm just hooked on this song! =)

  • And this is a great tune!

  • The melody is common like many other songs that time but the sound it's quite ahead of it's time. Just wonder what would have happened in pop-music without the Beatles and British Invasion...

  • Brilliant 63 song that never gets played today - sad!

  • I'm looking for another song of the barons. its called making it better. can you find or do you have it? thanx

  • To the person who left a comment re: Stan Vincent, and Possibility by the Crowns, i accidentally hit remove instead of reply so your post got wiped, my apologies. I meant to add that I'm actually partial to the version of Possibility by the Coachmen, a Memphis garage band (but the same song as the Crowns tune!).

  • You got kicked off too?? :-)

Glad to see ya back, and one hell of a song!

  • I figured I'd stick to uploading stuff from my own record collection since so many of my videos seems to be under control of corporations who dont want them on youtube and refuse to ever put them out on dvd for people to purchase....likewise, many of these great songs cant be purchased on cd. Luckily this Barons tune can be, and hopefully if people like it and can find it on cd, they will buy it. Otherwise i hope record companies see how many views these videos get and finally release the songs.

  • The CD's that this song are on have horrible fidelity...namely the Collectables release "Spotlite On Eric Records" (sounds like a really low volume disc dub or from a bad tape), and also another compilation CD which I can't remember the name of (which was a semi-distorted disc dub).

Problem is, with a lot of doo wop like this, you can't get them in master quality, let alone stereo (even if they are still in the vaults, which I'm guessing this one and "Remember Rita" still are)

  • A Chilean pressing of Pledge Of A Fool?!?!? I wonder how many other Epic/Columbias were pressed there around that time (Four Kings, Lou Martino, Blue Sonnets, etc). This is a true mind blower!!!

  • Thanks, it was a great ebay purchase...set me back about $30, and is worth every penny and then some!
