How is your average framerate so low? how much RAM do you have and what speed etc? I also have a GTX 470 and I get about double this at the same setting and it's very playable with actual gameplay aswell =/

@dbosnic i know for a fact it is not bottlenecking because i can do a 3.4 ghz overclock and see no difference in the cards perfomance and the cards performance rises as it should when overclocked if it was bottlenecking an overclock would do almost nothing

I get 62 fps average on the same settings as in this video for the benchmark but the actual in game framerates sits around 30-35 fps, is that normal or is there something going on???

@pkev715 ok man help me and dont laugh pls. amd phenom ll x4 @4ghz, 4gb corsair 1333mhz, zotac gtx470, asus ma89gx mobo, 650w psu, wd 640gb 7200rpm 6gb/s, akasa venom cpu cooler. pls tell me on 1280x 1024 the lowest my fps goes is like 20 highest 80 average 32 maxed vsync off. same settings on 1920x1080 and my lowest is 17 average 28 and max 60. it should not be this laggy at all! thats a fact! other ppl have lowest of 40fps. pls tell me why its so laggy.

@L00peey it is just gta 4 it is not well optimized for all systems and i get low fps too so no worries you are in the right fps zone also you may not have enough amp for the card i believe it need 38 amps bettween 2 rails or one singe big rail

@pkev715 no man i dnt agree with that.. some1 had gtx460 maxed with veiw on 60 on 1980x1080 and he never got below 40 fps with the same system as me.. same cpu he had 6gb of ram not same mobo but in same price rang, but he also had 5 hdd's 1 for games 1 for media 1 for system. so that is probly why also. but like i said my psu is one of the best in its range and it has the output needed. and i dnt think u realise i get 20min on 1280x1024.. THAT IS NOT RITE. and take off vsync, u wil get more fps

@L00peey i have never been able to keep it from going under 20 on any card or system so that is just my input somtimes i get 17 in night with traffic and the benchmark is very inacurate i can get 20 in one test and 40 on the next s don't use it to benchmark

and i would think its your power that needs upgrading cuz for what you have 650 is not enough or just barely enough also get one with a higher amp rating on the rails or try using 2 differrent rails for each pci-e plug in the card

I have issues with 1280x1024, I just put it down to the fact that most games aren't designed for that aspect ratio, I just installed the latest beta drivers for my gtx 470, that made a big difference in performance. I've noticed on alot of review websites that bench games at 1280x1024 aswell hit lower fps than 1680x1050 and some games lower than 1920x1080. I've only got 1 hard drive, also need to reinstall win7. So I still got some stuff to get and do.

@pkev715 and dude the reason why your game is laggy is because u have vsync on! turn it off because that card cannot do 60fps constant so really ur putting strain on it so u get ALOT less fps when it drops below 55. as you can see in ur benchmark. turn it off and u will see an average of over 50. unless the rest of your pc is bottlenecking. and i also have a cracked version of windows 7 ult 64bit but i can update it. is this why it could be lagging this bad? maybe i should get it legit rite?

Putting View and Detail distance past 50 doesn't add to the graphics in any way, yet lowers your framerate by a lot. So you can easily bump that framerate up. Also, turn off vsync.

The sad thing about GTA is that it doesn't benefit from SLI and crossfire. However it does like one fast clocked or high end card which is what you have. Disable the crap that is os side and supersize the ram. Move the pagfile onto a SSD if it is needed and unable to kill it. Will need 8GB+ just to get it turned off x.x

on th eother hand, Vsync doesn't cause you to see flaw frames, wich means the frames are runnign smooth without jumping up or down.

bu sure Vsync is heavy.

to 60 fps or 70 fps

so in the benchmark he could get better framerate

vsync lowers your fps and locks them

you should try again with vsync off
