  • Is this guy alive or dead?

  • Man, It Don't Get No Better Than That!!!

  • @theadkins1234 - Thats my uncle. How are you his cousin?

  • i watch this and i think it's hard to believe that i'm a cousin of little jimmy dickens. i am i have a tape of him when he came home to wv .

  • I have seen Jimmy several times at the Opry. Have his Autograph. He is such a gracious and kind fellow. Like a next door neighbor but one that lives far away.

  • The band is - Dave Nigh on guitar, Pee Wee Rogers on Steel, Calvin Crawford on Bass, and Gary West on Drums.

All these guys were with Dickens for a long time.

  • Country Music Royalty! Need I say more?

  • It seems I just can never say enough about this great song sung so wonderfully by Jimmy. The musicians are fabulous. Just the sound they have is so enjoyable - just perfect country gold. I listen to this one every day and wish I could have been there when Jimmy was singing it on this particular Opry show. Thank s again for t his marvelous treasure. - Paula

  • What a great song and arrangement. Clark Ranger of KWKY Des Moines played many of Jimmy's ballads during his morning radio show in the 1970's.

  • I read the recorded this in 1963

  • Wow this is awsome, countery today sucks!!! Hank 3 is the only real countery player left

  • This is probably my all time favorite song by Little Jimmy Dickens! A true living legend! Love it!

  • man do i wish shorty still sings like this! and this is honky tonk at its best in the best place to have it!

  • what a great moment for me to see little jimmy live in the ryman couple of weeks ago ,what an entertainer a living legend ..keep singing jimmy

  • I have never seen Little Jimmy when he wasn't smiling...not only a great entertainer..or perhaps part of it...he just makes you want to be around him. Never had a velvet voice..never claim to have...but a timming and rhythm and an innate knowledge of what entertained people and an ability and desire to deliver. We don't grow'em like that anymore!

  • Each time I watch and listen to this video I do so admire the professional look Jimmy and all of the Opry musicians show. They are set apart from so many of the musicians I've seen in recent years who don't care how they look or what people think. For me, a great stage appearance is very important - not that it makes artists sound any differently but they are more enjoyable to watch. Thanks once more for this terrific video . - Paula

  • As always ,GREAT! Love ya Little Man.................I only wish i could sit and chat for awhile about my country music dreams...

  • These performers are from a time when you dressed up to present themselves to the audience. Just great entertainers.

  • another one of jimmys greats. looking for one by him called death in the family. anyone knows where to get it please let me know.

  • This kind of music is what great country music is all about. If I could hear more like this by the classic artists I would go to the Opry more often. For now, though, I am thankful that we do still have some worth listening to. Thanks once again for posting this winner. - Paula

  • I've always loved the way Jimmy sings the ballads. His distinctive voice and style make his songs unforgettable. This song has been one of my favorites for many years. It's one of those songs I feel that just never stops being popular and when other artists have sung it, too, there's just a good feeling of warmth - tho the lyrics are a little sad. Thank for posting this treasure by this wonderfully talented artist. - Paula

  • I love the ballads & meeting Mr. Dickens was an honor. He is a friendly man.

  • I have been trying to find a song by Little Jimmie Dickens, "I Love Lucy Brown" I am not sure if this is the correct title, i saw him sing it on the Grand Ole Opry, I have never heard it again, anybody out there have it or know it.?

  • I need some help. My uncle played bass for Little Jimmy Dickens from about 1968 to 71 or 72. Does anybody know of a youtube video from about that time? I'd like to show it to my dad.

  • HAWAII 1962---I played bass in a local band & backed Jimmy on a two week tour of military clubs. Twenty five years later I saw him in a California appearance (as a spectator) & was amazed that he remembered me (and everyone in the band).

This is one reason he is so well accepted by everyone he comes in contact with.

I will always cherish being associated with Little in stature but Huge in Heart,

Jimmy Dickens. John Steaveson of The Howard Gerald Quartet 1961-1963 Honolulu

  • Wow - Jimmy has always been wonderful doing the ballads and I'm so glad to hear that his many fans love his ballads, too. This one is a classic . His voice is so distinctive and he can sing any song and make it special. We met him years ago and we treasure that time. He was so gracious and so kind to us at The Opry, showing us around back stage. One of the greatest singers ever. Thank you for posting this. - Paula (formerly PaulinaRena)
