  • tortured brilliance, 'tis the master...he makes your head explode with pain & glory for wishing you could express yourself thusly. he makes us feel, want, hope, yearn, die & live...thank you bob---you craft mortal words into poetic justice--such mastery comes from another dimension, a place without space nor time. your songs, with their inspiration of desperation, longing and knowingness, help to make humanity know there is life after life...dylan, stuff o' legends, rock on. jillypeace~

  • worst dylan song ive ever heard

  • I like Bob Dylan, but for me Bruce Springsteen is the finest songwriter of my lifetime.

  • don't know what the music world will be without Bob Dylan ..

  • big thx to Daniel Lanois for this one!

  • Two words made me stop worshipping the man...

    Self-Portrait.

  • @Defixio1 The reason the album was so bad was because he wanted it to be. So people would stop thinking he was a god and hassling him. Obviously it worked. Didn't stop me though! :D

  • @Defixio1 not his best album for sure, but come on...there are some good songs on there...she belongs to me, wigwam, alberta, etc. just one of his phases.

  • falling inlove with dylan all over again..

    so sexy

  • Wonderful video mix of Dylan-The Poet/Singer/Songwriter story teller of the century;"another world" unto itself.

  • so true. you have to sit through some shit, rihanna, to get to some art, bob

  • what the hell was that?

    my new favorite video

    unreal...soooo good!

  • This sounds like something Springsteen could cover...

  • Wow! I've been listening to the man's music for 50 years, and still he surprises me.

    Incredible!

  • Beautiful song! thanks.

  • rischio di dire un'eresia ma questa è la canzone di Dylan che preferisco!!!

  • I don't think Bob is talking about dreams at all. Anyone agree? I particularly like the line "the cards are no good that they're holding" although it took my a long time to make sense of it

  • this inspires me to do great thing weather ill get round to is a different matter entirly

  • @dmien746 whether you'll get round to spelling properly is another matter

  • Absolute genius!

  • Bob Dylans music is a substantial part of the western worlds cultural heritage!

  • @CBrolley Subjectivity is nice, is it not?

  • @CBrolley What are you talking about? Bob Dylan is immensely popular you fool, his songs have been covered by more artists than almost anyone including the Beatles. He can sing and he can play instruments so go troll somewhere else moron.

  • This is the SONG! One of the best! WoW! **

  • @jat1017 He was an american poet who inspired Bob Dylan

  • I just saw Bombay Beach-They use this song, and one other Dylan song-anyone know the name of the other song-Great film, great use of this song..

  • This video is just great! It really stands up well to one of Dylan's epic songs.

  • Dear Friends, someone stole God's iPod...

    Greetings from Croatia.. Kiki :*

  • The significance is that Jack Kerouac was the Beat son.

  • The grave featured 0:53 is of Jack Kerouac. Does anyone know the significance of this?

  • @jat1017 I'm not sure of the significance but I guess he's just paying tribute to his influences and roots. There's another scene at Jack's grave though, where Ginsberg is rapping to him as he's reading something. At 2:30 there's a photo of Kerouac at the left, which is replaced by a photo of Bob's parents at 2:31. The visit to Jack's grave by Bob and Allen is from Renaldo and Clara. Every time I watch this I see something new.

  • A song for all us dreamers :-)

  • Superbe vidéo !

  • was that Tequila he was sipping out of a bottle with no expression afterward"s??? ych I mean...wheres the lemon...it"s probably bourbon.....

  • BoB? You are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo handsome.....

  • Cheers, Stuart. I love Dylan too, but I think other people are entitled to their opinion.

  • Great video; shame about the song.

  • @papilliph thats a fucking great song ,go listen to robbie williams u ucking unt

  • I reallylke this video clip...and what a beautiful horse Bob is riding.......

  • I'm going to see him in concert in Padova this November!!

  • @tzichica That's awesome!! Wait- he's STILL doing tours?? o.o

  • @Taggerung12 Yeah!! Ad least I hope he'll still be alive in November :)) I'm sure it will be great!

  • dylans been analyze and. criticized but never figured out?

  • I Love This Music Video And Song! :) x

  • beautiful!

  • i love this song

  • alkaloids for the neutorn generation,.

  • I bought the bootleg series box set, just for this song.

  • @SaturnTrack I discovered this song last week on Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume 3.

  • I cannot put in words how miniscule of a shit I give about Folger's Jingle Contest and kara DioGuardi. Perhaps Ms DioGuardi would be courteous enough to go fornicate herself with a can of Folgers while the rest of us get to listen to Dylan unfettered by banal commercials for low grade coffee?

  • Bob Dylan answers to no one. Thats why he is so great.

  • @maven1818 sell out ??

  • Oh, great song! Terrific! \o/

  • I was thinking of a series of dreams

Where nothing comes up to the top

Everything stays down where it's wounded

And comes to a permanent stop

  • Fuckin' genius!

  • FUCK VEVO

  • Christ is merely the projection of god.

  • Could you have been hermes.?

  • why is the umbrella folded?

  • Putting on war paint

    He girds his sword

    with soft words

    A series of dreams

  • Dylan is a genius. . . . unique!!! I don't believe there has ever been and probably never will be another artist that is as diverse and talented as Bobby Zimmy! The amount of times he has changed his music and approached it in different ways whilst still maintaining that high level of artistic magic. By far the greatest songwriter ever, his poetic levels succeed all before him. He's like a modern day Burns or Shakespeare in terms of imagination and genius!

  • @TheLaughingBadger I use to say Dylan is not an artist but a cultural movement himself... or maybe more than one, lol

  • @TheLaughingBadger A total paradox: ever changing, ever true to himself

  • @cambiarmivida Sorry, what? haha

  • @TheLaughingBadger COULDNT AGREE MORE !!

  • and your peace makers need guards.

  • I really wish he had put this one and Dignity on Oh Mercy, as well as Blind Wille on Infidels..

  • america i know your pionerres,i know they fled home,as it is recieved so shall it be.

  • google john hutchinson fallen angels and see dylans influence

  • Warning: This EPIC song has a devastating effect on your heart

  • @alejandrolopezcinca Thanks for the Warning, but it still devastated me, and my heart. I am not positive, but I am fairly sure this is THE best video on U2b.

  • @TheGDbot I agree completely =) Long live The Bard!! This world is a better and more important place thanks to him

  • Its not just the voice that improves with his age its the lyrics too

  • the left brain is your future and the present is never reviled to the eyes of the deciever.

  • There is no one better than this man im glad I discovered him when i did

  • if u like Dylan listen to this guy - he is absolutely brill John Hutchinson Angels and pot of gold

  • Happy Birthday Robert Milkwood Thomas, a.k.a. Blind Boy Grunt, a.k.a. Robert Zimmerman, a.k.a. Bobby Dylan!

  • The greatest ...

  • The greatest ...

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOBBY.

YOU ARE A POET,SCHOLAR AND AN HERO OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.

I CONSIDER IT A PRIVILEDGE TO BE LIVING ON THE SAME PLANET AS YOURSELF.MAY YOU STAY FOREVER YOUNG.

  • DAMN! What a fantastic video, man!

  • Love this video. Moving song

  • Who would like to try and explain to Sony that removing you tube clips probably DECREASES record sales?

  • @bartmillerbelgium ... agreed.. if its not on youtube... it doesnt exist

  • @bartmillerbelgium an economist

  • A warrior musician.

  • Uma das melhores musicas. A better music from Dylan. Tks... From Brazil.

  • Six people apparently don't have souls

  • Does anyone know what performance is displayed at 3:16?

  • @geminijewel That performance at 3:16 I think is from the "Hard Rain" gig mid 70's. There used to be lots of videos of it on Youtube till they got removed - Idiot Wind, Shelter from the Storm... fiery and brilliant.

  • @pentelikos you still have them at my channel

  • the great zimmy could be like a favorite of hes pete seegar n still touring at 90

  • BOB, no one cooler than you. TT.TT

  • very awesome video!

  • amazing photos

  • does anyone think that a girl could follow in Bob Dylan's footsteps like he did with Woodie Guthrie?

  • @1975hippie Well I dont think its about following anyones footsteps. You need to create something special with the assistance of all your influences. If you like Bob you need to develop whats so great about him and turn it into something even better. You cannot strive towards "becomming" Dylan. You need to be independent and go you own way+ofc write immortal lyrics

Bruce Springsteen has done this quite well

Its time for a new saviour to step into the light, whether its a girl/boy might not matter

  • @rojoh001 :)

  • @rojoh001 ok. how do i do that? im only 17 and have a strong desire to do this. I already play acoustic and electric guitar and play some of his songs but i dont know where to go after this. Im confused. i want to become the " next bob dylan but have no idea how to get there". Help?

  • @1975hippie: my humble suggestion: Become the next YOU.

  • @1975hippie Flee "originality." The most original people you'll ever meet are those who don't give a rip about being "original."

  • @1975hippie I'm sorry to say this but you seem quite immature... why do you want to become "the next bob dylan"? Is it because you want to be famous? Earn money?........*sigh*

A tip though: Open your eyes

  • @rojoh001 Let him dream!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is my favourite somg of his...it epitomises my life to a t...I want it at my funeral. Thanks bob....

  • @joydh1968 I hope that you are with us for a little bit longer...at least, until you desire to leave this incarnation.

  • Cool never seen this one before. Which album is this from?

  • @OldManBieberFan the question is: why are you called "OldManBieberFan"?

  • @OldManBieberFan It's from the first of the Bootleg Series . Bob left it off "Oh Mercy". Great video as well.

  • His most recent--and now, sadly rare -- truly great, magnificent song. And yes, great to listen to in the dark, and some of the best drumming ever. Note at 2:11 the morphing of the older Dylan face to the peach-fuzz boy face of his youth. Great video.I am thrilled by the range of Dylan videos and pics in it. An amazing work of video art.

  • His most recent--and now, sadly rare -- truly great, magnificent song. And yes, great to listen to in the dark, and some of the best drumming ever.

  • Great song and video.

  • Row, row, row your boat,

    Gently down the stream.

    Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,

Life is... But i dream! Rimmbaud said that. i miss the vice of a man like Christ and there is too many arthur rimbauds.

  • g-d man, you do make me cry a river...

  • wonderful:D

  • Inception - It's a series of dreams

  • I've always loved this song. You have to listen to it loud, and in the dark. Give it your total attention.

  • Only ever gonna be one Bob Dylan.

  • Joni Mitchell can kiss my ass.

  • Once again, Dylan surrounds himself with a phenomenal drummer, another maestro. The cymbal work accenting the lyrics is magnificent.

  • @MJLatora I agree. The drumming on this track is very exciting.

  • -- people who think any Dylan stuff passed the 60's (or sometimes mid-70's) = crap are funny. I think his later stuff (especially now) is some of the best. He's one of the greatest writers/performers of our time. Prolific almost to a fault (like Whitman was, an idea taken from a writer/journalist who wrote about Dylan - possibly in the Village Voice). In any case, Bob rocks (and fuckers have desecrated a national treasure by taking down the non-commercially available content). FUCK YOU VEVO/ETC!

  • This song is awesome, but the video truly makes it amazing. A beautiful, grand old time warp for all times. There will never, ever be another songwriting talent equal to Bob Dylan.

  • @christylovednloves i dont knw what it is but they just arent speaking to me. i wish i liked him cuz i love his voice but...nothing. it actually kinda gives me a headache. i love the ppl he strongly influences thou...like mumford & sons and marcus foster. but idky not him.

  • @SoSuductive SEE IF YOU CAN FIND GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY FAIR,,IF YOU LIKE SONGS THAT EVOKE FEELING..

  • @fermos11111 i looooooooooooveddddd the song! with johnny cash especially thanks!!!!!!

  • @SoSuductive Ha ha ,I was really wondering if you would search my suggestion! There used to be a version in 1963 with Dylan singing in a cabin or something,,,MIND BLOWING!

  • @fermos11111 no way i reallly want to like bob dylan so i definitley searched it. thanks!

  • Dylan in my heart a thousand times over.

  • .................i love bob dylans voice...........but i havent found to many actual songs of his that i like.....im i just listening to the wrong ones or what?

  • Shaun will soon be gone.

  • i really love this video!!!!

  • hate vevo's adds right beside the clip!

  • Always have, always will Love Dylan!!!!!!

  • Bob Dylan produces pure poetry to my ears, and certainly in many other ears!

Poetry reception has nothing to do with age but only with a capacity for empathy, which can not be derives to age but rather the imagination regardless of age ... If you have the ability, you hear it in Dylan's lyrics!

  • it's an especially bad ass song since he has several songs titled "Bob Dylan's Dream (##th)" Kinda like he's reflected on each point of his life/career with this little diddy.

My personal favorite one was Bob Dylan's Dream from the Freewheelin' album...made me think of the time's I've had to move and missed the old friends and surroundings etc.

  • after watching that all i can say is wow

  • the greatest song writer of all time

  • @bdylanfan90 What about Barry Manilow and Jimmy Buffett?

  • @TheBigDelicious it isn't even close.

  • Comment removed

  • @bdylanfan90- absolutely, completely, utterly agree with you! Sitting here in Greenwich Village imagine the time when Bob first came here....and what would he want to do on his 70th birthday which is only a few days later...

  • I love how my adblocker blocks vevo's annoying ads. I wouldn't want this masterpiece to be ruined by mainstream teenage pop crap.

  • this video is amazing. its true. and it tells about bob dylans long life.

  • One of my favorites and the words ring true. Please never remove this one. xx
