  • I put this as my ringtone

  • Ah the days dialing out at home playing MTM2 over 28k with a neighbour at home - loved this sound when I was 4

  • Fiber cables ftw.

  • Damn old ladies, makin funny noises and not doin their jobs quick-like.

  • The woman on the right needs to pull her own weight.

  • jajajajaja, genial... Felíz #DiaDeInternet

  • 138 people are 15 years old.

  • @CamiloSanchez1979 i'm 15, and understood this video just fine. we used dial-up at home when i was younger. :P

  • 138 people use a slow dial-up modem ^^

  • Ooh man. Our dial up used to be so shaky. It was music to my ears when I got the confirmation tone.

Today I got I got high-speed broadband connection 24/7 in my flat with full wireless coverage. I don't even think about the connection anymore. It is so easy.

And yet, part of me misses those days.

  • @Neakal Try pissing around with an old 300 baud acoustic coupling modem.... shiver.....

  • this show is weird, and in a certain way, creepy

  • @DarkMasta95 you forgot to mention brilliant too.

  • Monkey Dust is basically an animated version of Jam, except with less ambient music.

  • This brings me back to when I was 8 years old.

    Dial up.....

  • wtf

  • thats easily the funniest thing ive seen in ages!!

  • good times... good times... :))

  • Good cartoon, check out 'Potato Smiles' !

  • I kinda miss that noise :(I don't miss waiting 5 minutes for ANYTHING to load though ^_^

  • i remember that

    those where good times

  • 129 people stil use a dail-up conection

  • @MrGameboy1989 Why would people with dial up down rate a video on dial up? Your logical creativity makes no sense.

  • Dialups is an serious business.

  • Fuck. Thats funny! I always wonder what made that noise.

  • You can't watch this on dial-up :P

  • @teslapower220 Yes you can. It took me about 2 or 3 minutes to load.

  • @teslapower220 I am watching it and I use dial up!!

  • fvcking dial-up xD

  • Broadband is used rather widely now, even in the developing countries like Vietnam (personal experience). But I'm not sure about the penetration of broadband in 3rd world African nations.

  • Hahahahaha I am bemused by this

  • hahahahaha

  • Hilarious....Lmfao

  • the internet is a series of tubes!

  • I miss the dial-up sound, I guess the new broadband-generation has already taken off.

  • Thats the most disturbing video i've ever seen. Holy shit.

  • lol

  • hhahahaahhahahahhahahahahhahahahah

  • FUCKING INTERNETS

    HOW DO THEY WORK?

  • @Gold753 the internet is a complex system of interlinked computer documents and files all networked via an immense system of BILLIONS of computers the internet is one of the most complex things on earth and it really inst one thing at all

  • @Gold753 They're just there in the air.

  • Omg, I do not miss that sound at all. I'm soo grateful for broadband the anxiety I use to feel, waiting and hoping the internet would connect, was too much to handle, when i had a deadline. To think I hear kids today moaning when a page takes 10 seconds longer to load, they should of been online 10 years ago.

  • @Sweetstarlight I was on the internet 15 years ago, and 10 seconds of waiting drives me just as insane as 20-30 minutes of waiting did back then, whats the point of progressing at all, i might aswell just go live in the fucking mud.

  • Nostalgia!

Well, not exactly longing the connection speed/ price... but the sound of dial up makes me smile nonetheless.

  • That only goes to show what a bloody stupid and pointless sequence of sounds that was. Imagine. When the Internet was conceived, somebody said: "Hey! We should have the same sequence of random noises play every time somebody tries to connect!"

  • @sphereballs Umm, have you ever heard of telephone network control codes?

These "random noises" actually tell your ISP that your modem wishes to establish a connection with them using the parameters (username, password, etc) that you entered.

  • @zoadam We learn something new every day...

  • @zoadam Not quite. Before the modem switches off its speaker, it's the error-correction etc being negotiated between the modems.

  • This makes me feel old. Oh god...

  • @anneloes2 I know how you feel.

  • >implying that this is funny

  • boyan!

  • jag älskar kött bullar!

  • viejos tiempos #Queregresenlosnoventas

  • I always KNEW that's how it worked!

  • Godddd when I first saw this I couldn't calm down for ages, ahahahahahaha

  • looooooooooooool

    grat invention

    رووووووووعة

  • LMAO :P

  • So thats we're the dial-up tone comes from

  • que onda el esa wea????

  • LMFAO

  • Nostalgie!

  • LMAO! Great video.

  • Ahhh, the good old day's, waiting ten minutes for a single page to load. Funny how I get aggravated now if it takes more than three seconds!

  • monkey dust is fantastic. i wish someone would post the 'snowflake' scene they did when the country ground to a halt and stopped working.

  • OMG so much lol xD

  • good ol' 14.4k

  • Kinda reminds me of that scene in The Matrix when we see inside Neo's throat and it all turns to metal.

  • my dad used to work with 56k

  • I can just imagine some old lady clicking every time I click a link...

  • imagine you're in an elevator and the sounds it makes come from old women to whom the company outsources. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit!

  • LOL :))

  • hahah fucking brilliant

  • 28.8K FTW!

  • ohh i remember my good old 56k modem than never really connected at that i think it was something like 48.bps

  • @leewatts Good old days? You're young! I remember when the standard was 1200 baud. I was one of the first to get the "new" 2400 baud modems and I thought I was "cooking with gas now!". Crazy fast (for the time)....LOL

  • Hehe I'm 12 and I remember 56k.

  • It saddens me a good number of the people who see this video won't get it.

  • Lol yea its still a classic though =P i remember the days ^^

  • @GuessWhoLostTheGame exactly

  • @GuessWhoLostTheGame Actually I was born in 1997 but I was still using dial up in 2008... how sad.

  • @GuessWhoLostTheGame Yeah lol I have fond memories of this sound when I was about age 3 to age 9. We used dial up internet primarily until 2005. And we STILL use it when our high speed refuses to work. Ahhh, good ol' dial up.

  • @GuessWhoLostTheGame

    Why does that sadden you!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck shit man, this is great :P

  • srry for interrupting the telephone facts :p ,

  • You must be pretty young. I remember 300 baud.

  • Tiscali after the Talk Talk takeover.

    How I loathe them.

  • Lol i have to agree tbh xD

  • This is true.

  • Now broadband has taken over only about 15% of the country still use dial-up. They'll soon be out of a job... How sad... :-(

  • At least the memories will live on of dial-up, Anyone remember 15k dial up from way back then lol

  • I do. I had 24k dial-up in 1996/7 and it cost £35 a month PLUS the cost of a local call per minute once connected to use. :-P

  • I use 3G XD

  • I love this sound :D

  • I get scared whenever I turn on my modem now D:

  • @MadamMarch

Hahaha this video is fucking scary

  • continued. from BBC 3 a black comedy animation clip show called Monkey Dust.

  • so this is the real World Wide Web then, two women pensioners who are brilliant at impersonating dial up modems. those two women pensioners were right at the rate the World Wide Web is expanding they will have to take on and expertly train quite a few thousand pensioners in the art of impersonating dial up modems, i wonder i the money will be good for this kind of job, still i suppose it will be a good way to top up their pension. yes i know it is not real

and that it is a clip

  • roflmao!!!

  • lmao, I remember how much of a relief it was to finally hear this tone when you were connecting. I remember the all-too-often busy signals. Sometimes it would loop for a long time without connecting and you knew something you were having software/hardware issues. lol

  • or even worse, you'd try and connect and end up hearing your sister having a "private" conversation with her boyfriend on the phone. LMFAO

  • LOL, I remember jumping in on some conversations a few times. The modem's speaker was like a speakerphone for the call. Everyone would hear the convo. LOL

  • XD jaja

  • que tiempos aquellos toda una odicea para tener internet.....

  • That sound used to be a real relief. Isn't that sad? It's so unpleasant.

  • Ahh, I love that sound :) I feel bad for those who nothing of such lovely "white noise" (so to speak).
