I learned this song in 1993. I was given a cassette tape while studying English as a foreign language at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I memorized all the songs on the tape but I liked this one especially. I gave the tape to my girlfriend in 1996 so she could learn the songs recorded on it... I lost the cassette... But I always remembered the lyrics for this song and looked for it on the Internet for years without success. I found it today and I am so happy that I did... Thank you!
Oh Dean, why is it that every song you sing makes me teary? I've loved your music for years. It's so sweet to see you sitting by the ocean, singing this song of new life.
My Dad passed on recently, and that makes this garden song of new beginnings all the more meaningful.
I love Dean Stevens. He played at the Cornerstone Coffeehouse in Winchester, MA years ago and we have never forgotten that incredible performance. He touched our souls and we were forever moved by his sweet voice, his beautiful lyrics, his gorgeous melodies....and that mesmerizing stage presence........thank you for the music, Dean. And thanks for posting this video.
