  • This is cool but I would have fallen flat on my ass after about 10 seconds trying to attempt this.

  • This ritual has very old ancient Turkic roots. Comes from the idea that one gets into a state of mind (OZLAŞMAK) and let his soul "pass" to the Gök Tanrı (Sky God) in a spinning sense. This was the belief in the requiems when the dead body is burned so that a good khan will be passed to the Sky God by changing it's form from body to soul (OZLAŞMAK). The same ritual can be seen in Maya civilization.

  • Its another roman leftover from when man was more tolerant and accepting of other cultures, races, and ways of life...

I think Sufi is kind of like monks and nuns , but it is internally from what I can tell as an outside observer and not an internal participant a gay holy mans religion like pre 3rd century catholic monk and monastery writings and books...It would be hard for them to have descendants so I think they take care of city's and country's like Celestial Beings...

  • @JonesArmandoHoward

your comment seems to have no basis in reality. sufi whirling originated in turkey, not rome, and much later after the fall of the roman empire.

  • @MountAnalogue

No that's the whole point of it being in resonance with Ala the African Earth Deity, its the reason that they can claim Arianism by the presbyter of Arius, which states that the son is better than the father, so its an off shoot of militant Islam which is a form of disciplined martial spiritual law based on rejection of the savageness of western culture, And it is like Meta physical cults like Hari Krishna's we have Angel Cults in America and they have sober/clean cults there.

  • @JonesArmandoHoward

Does it really matter though? I mean I'm a Buddhist and my understanding is that every system of belief, every ideology is on some level holding to a portion of, or interpretation of their own understanding of the truth. Even if Allah is really Ala is really Yahweh is actually Baal or Osiris, the point is still the same.

  • @MountAnalogue

No Ala literally means the Earth like mother earth, respect for the ecology is the most important thing for them and the whole belief system came from Romans in that without air and water, all the different religions and races and creeds could not even kill each other over nothing...

That's why I like them a lot they are very peaceful and their music and art is very beautiful and meaningful...

  • @JonesArmandoHoward

well you make a good point

  • This is quite beautiful. I wish I has such commitment.

  • That was toooo funny!!

  • This isn't dance, and understanding that is the key to really enjoying the Dervish.

  • Most Sufi traditions exist within the umbrella of either Sunni or Shi'a Islam. Most of the tariqhas or Sufi orders exist within one of the 4 schools of thoughts of Sunni Islam or the traditional Shi'a school of though, most specifically, the Irfaniyya order. Contrary to popular belief, Sufism has always been somewhat popular in the Muslim world, made popular by the famous Imaam Ghazali who introduced the Muslim world to the Sufi orders in the 11th century.

  • Very beautiful mashallah!

  • mevlana said everythink is turning world is turning why ım not..

  • i used to twirl like that as a kid, but would get very dizzy and fall down at some point. How do they not get dizzy? Or do they?

  • My nieces would say those outfits have "a good twirl factor"...I'm more amazed by their ability to spin endlessly without focusing on a single point the way ballet dancers do.

  • I was looking for guild wars hahahah

  • I have no tolerance for any type of islam

  • @reddog187000 so what?

  • @somrazy3 either make a statement or stfu

  • @reddog187000 Let me guess... You're a Protestant Christian?

  • @chocolatedonut31 I am not , organized religion is a farce

  • @reddog187000

If you have no tolerance for any form of Islam, the question begs to be asked ...What the hell are you doing on this video?

  • @Northerncheeks lol u'r a furny mofo

  • @reddog187000 becuase you actually don't know anything about islam. p.s. I'm an atheist not a muslim.

  • @aporia82 good , i think atheism is more logical

  • @reddog187000 atheism is not logical...because religions warning u with a hell and u cant prove there is no hell but atheism is not say u will go to hell in this case if u choose a religion it will be more logical.one side is hell one side is nothing ....

  • @Cehennemhabercisi I cannot prove there is not a Hell ,you cannot prove there is.So lets see, lets believe and waste fucking time dressing up like some wackos and focusing on something fucking imaginary, I apologies I am not being true I pray to the omnipotent Santa Claus and Chupa Cabra. We wage a religious war against Zionist, ALL ZIONIST MUST DIE. our holy book is Catcher in the Rye". Every Monday night we gather to worship the Gods of the PIG SKIN, and kneel before thee and praise ESPN

  • @reddog187000 waste time? u cant know what is waste :) I m talking about if u r searching for logic ..u r choosing an empty way and u r ignoring hell ..this is not smart..and not logical..dont believe to anything and do nothing..just live go fuk somebody or kill or cheat ..u will die in anyway and u will not go to hell in anyway why u r stoping..so this world needs a god ppl needs him this world needs him because there is a lot of evil ppl.god is completing this world system there must be a god

  • @Cehennemhabercisi your WHOLE ideal is god damn garbage my boy ,, How the F&%k is the idea of a metaphysical being even logical , you dumb f&%k

  • @reddog187000 :) your language proves my ideal.. keep thinking..

and search that words and watch that video ^^MATTER DOES NOT EXIST^^

  • @Cehennemhabercisi my language proves nothing asshole ,its just expressionism .you one the other hand are a shallow and unimaginative moron , you let your forefathers shove their ideals and beliefs up your ass. get your own niche and stop riding your mothers panty hose

  • @reddog187000 you are showing an atheist s empty anger and how disqusting u are.go away I m blocking u and ur small brain.

  • @Cehennemhabercisi lol small brain , that is original , come blow me up or blow me what ever you want

  • Darkspade9..

it must be very easy to be you... light, very light...

  • so... it's atradition.. great .. fine ... three year olds do this all the time, not exactly watch worthy ... 30 seconds of my life i'll never get back ......

  • HEY!!! Morgana does this dance in League of Legends >.<

  • In order to be correct, I believe they are supposed to twirl from left to right! Does anyone know for sure?

  • @star4evr9 If you're in the nothern hemisphere from the right (clockwise), if southern H, from the left:

  • They're like small planets. With their heads slightly tilted and whirling in all eternity.

  • Masha'Allah

  • @piratelord99 lmao ! They are just paraying ;p I was told dervishes have a different style to pray ^^ thats all

  • Ne bu sacma sapan bir sey ya??????? Nerde varmis dinimizde boyle insanlara egilmek insanlara kul olmak? BU TEMIZ SIRK VE BIDAT YA insanlar. Ne bu aptal aptal donmek. Peygamberimiz boyle mi dondu? Peygamber bunu mu emretti? Bunu mu ogretti? Ya insanlar! Allah Kuran'da ne dediise onu yapin, Peygamber sunnetinde ne varsa onu yapin. Deli olmayin ya? Bir de muslimanmissiniz.... SIZ YENI BIR SUNNET VEYA YENI BIR DIN MI GETIRMEK ISTIYORSUNUZ??? Allah dogru yolla getirsin sizi ya.

  • i like how they spin and spin without getting dizzy :)

  • You need to get a job, instead of "wasting of time" posting professional wrestling videos like a 12-year-old.

  • @JDMUHR oy, I'm twelve! I don't post crap like that. Don't be a racist. Before you object to my statement, look it up.

You were a "waster of time" once. Tardo.

  • @rodjohnson69 it's more than just religion. It's a tradition, and it symbolizes their culture and history.

The true meaning of this dance is a meditation that symbolizes the turning of the earth as it orbits around the sun. And as they continue to spin, it represents the entire universe coming together, into their mind, body, spirit and soul.

But you wouldn't know anything about that.

  • mashallah! beautiful

  • Bello !

  • they r turning because everything turns in the world.

  • they are trance when they dance like that..

  • Simply amazing !!

  • i fucking love this music

  • can i please know where is the venue?

  • Mr./Ms. 3889321 can your 20 dervishe kill his or her own ego by himself/herself. Cause they know how to kill their own ego by fighting against their own ego.

  • Well if they perform for money than they are an act for entertainment, which means what they do is a job not a religion. I dont remember Isa, Musa or Muhammad(PBUH) doing anything of the sort for money and they had to eat too.

  • I am not sure... Probably the same reason your church asks for alms and is a tax-exempt organization in the United States.

Not sure why you have the hate for this ritual, but I have a feeling from your screen name, moronic ideas, and inability to spell or think clearly that you are blinded by a literal interpretation of a single religion, based on nothing other that your own fear.

  • PEACE ON EARTH!

  • that looks fun

    *twirls*

  • actually this is Muslim, the whirling dervishes are a group of the Sufi (aesthetic mystics of the Islamic tradition) this is an extremely mystical and personal way to pray

  • Brother this is not Dance, this is appreciation to Allah c.c. They are whirling because they disconnect the world and are just thiking Allah c.c. You know thking Allah is a a kind of Zikr and it a an IBADET...please look at this side...

  • Actually this is an Islamic tradition of Sufism, a very devout type of Muslim faith, (not like Sunni or Shii, but just a style of faith)as a Catholic, I have respect and appreciation for a beautiful expression of faith to God.

  • @Carl9275 actually sufism as u call it is tasawuf & it's not a sect mate. u can have sunni sufis & shia sufis wahabi sufis & salafi sufis. they r just *pious* muslims. hope u get it.

  • @younib100 From Muawiyah (RA). Rasulullah asked in a group of meeting:

"What is this gathering for?" They replied: "We gathered to do dhikr for God's guidance & hidayah." Then he asked: "Is it true that all of you gathered just for this?" They replied: "Yes, we had this gathering nothing more than dhikr to remember Him, Rasulullah." He said: "I came here not to correct you, but to inform you that Gabriel told me that God has sent Angels down to join the dhikr with you all in this meeting."

  • this is just beautiful.

  • Yes they reach with this ritual what you say, to be nothing and at the same time everything.

  • dancing people or that it is being video taped?

the first no its not, the 2nd arguable.

  • Very beautiful.

  • I've seen them many times in Istanbul and never tire of their beautiful chanting and devotional music. Thank you for this, AprilRoberts.

  • We Alevi People also practice the praying with whirling! I don't know how related we ara with the whirling dervises, but just search with the keyword semah instead of sema, then you will see what I mean

  • Come, come no matter what you are,

    A polytheist, fire-worshipper or idolater,

Our dervish convent is not the assembly of hopelessness

Come, even though you have broken

    Your repentance a hundred times.

  • that's really intresting. In few days I will see one of those semazen in person I am happy!! Does someone know what does the diferent colors mean? I mean why some are yellow and some are orange or white..?

  • they symbolise the different colors of the roses from the rose garden of the Exalted Rumi. Orange and red symbolises love, the sunrise and Shams; green symbolises finding the true path led by the spiritual master, white is pureness and innocence whereas yellow is for the pale face of the true lovers.i hope it helps

  • This is one of my first times seeing the religion Sufism. It resembles certain Hindu practices. Are Hinduism and Sufism related?

  • Magnificent! I am a Hindu, and though Sufism and Hinduism do share common ground in the devotional field of worship, they are not related; Sufism is a form of Islam whilst Hinduism is a completely different religion

  • Sufism origins are based on Vedanta. Sufis are basically yogis. Islam is different...

  • guzel!

  • that's great!

  • Wow !!

  • Love

    ~

    Love makes bitter things sweet.

    Love turns copper to gold.

With love dregs settle into clarity.

    With love suffering ceases.

Love brings the dead back to life.

Love transforms the King into a slave.

Love is the consummation of Gnosis.

How could a fool sit on such a throne?
