I'm agree with you guvnrDOTcom about changing SSH default port because botnets are launching attacks against the known port of SSH.

I stopped an attack of several netbots because when I checked the SSH log I have noticed the bots were trying log into using root account and other users knocking the 22 port, changing that and five months after, my SSH log don't show more attacks attempts :)

Hey guvrn,

thx for posting this tutorial. However a netadmin told me that changing the ssh-port falls into security by obscurity which may let look the machine more interesting to hackers since the default port has changed and something interesting might be there we wanna hide. What do you think of this?
