hey people! so you all know this is not that peter schickele or whatever his name is. this man is Eric Charnofsky and hes a musical genious who works in clevelands university circle united methodist church. or at least he use to.
The amazing thing about PDQ Bach is that it's actually really hard to perform it well, in part because it's so silly and has to be done so seriously. Well done, gentlemen!
Absolute Brillance! Only Peter Schickele can take absolute absurdity and almost make you believe that it is not absurd! (I also wonder how many people get the joke in the title with the word "Erotica." It seems many people think that Beethoven wrote an "Erotica" Symphony, but it's supposed to be "Eroica.")
I recently performed a rendition of this in Toronto in Walter Hall. I couldn't stay as serious as you, but still pretty silly considering I have a phobia of balloons.
The "giant pan flute" is called a "windbreaker." The next instrument is a "slide windbreaker." The instrument being whirled around is a "lasso del'moure."
@Ambidexter143 I believe the second variation was listed as for slide whistle. The slide windbreaker was used in another composition, and was two mailing tubes, one that fit inside the other, and you could slide it like a trombone.

They're called whirling tubes, although Prof. Schickele refers them as "lasso d'amore."
