Powerful scene... it got stuck in my mind and every single time I watch the movie, I always love how there isn't any sign of hesitation in Kato, he really means what he says when he says it. Really powerful.
Most Japanese are the most loyal people in this fucking planet. Unfortunately corrupt gay western values are infiltrating the minds of new generation Japanese making them less loyal. My advice to Japanese is that when it comes to clothing there is nothing wrong with wearing suits, but when it comes to moral be the great Japanese Moral people that you are.
I sometimes wonder Western people can understand our sense . This is easiest scene to know how we feel whole world. I'm immatured guy, but I know the difference how we feel when we see this movie.
This is not about Yakuza or way of man's life. This is how we feel the living world.
@mixi481 Well im one of the westerns who studies budo...so this scene is very powerful to me and I try very hard to understand the japanese mind and sense. I have lots of honor and loyalty so I understand this scene....many westerns don't have the same values though...but a few do
it means that they dont care about dying, they only care abot their pride and honor, and loyalty. Death is not something to be afraid of or evade for these people.
this movie is awesome. love the part where some black guy is like "these japanese dudes aint shit, i kill motherfuckers like this everyday..." KABLOW! the dude shoots him and the other black guy looks like he's gonna shit his pants.
i loved that part too..then at the end that black kid that was gonna shit in his pants took a pill and died while on a payback mission to avenge shirase..hahaha that was funny as hell!
This cat didn't exactly die for the sake of the family. There were some homosexual references in the film (as with most Kitano flicks). He knew that he was losing Aniki, so he had nothing to lose by killing himself. At least that's what I got out of it.
You're calling me a bitch? You got all sensitive over my comment. So that makes you the bitch. Plus, you're in denial. Remember the comments dude made over the hooker? Quotes like "SO ANIKI LIKES GIRLS NOW?" "THAT BITCH TOOK ANIKI?" And no, that doesn't make a person gay for pointing out the obvious. And you obviously haven't seen Tikano and Fireworks, also with references. Do some research, moron. And before you make a comment again, get out of your momma's basement and get a goddamn life.
He says aniki dates women now, yes. But that doesn't mean aniki used to date men. That means, aniki didn't date women back in japan (obviously too busy for that) and in the US, aniki begun dating. That doesn't mean he is gay bitch. And what basement are you talking about. My mom died like 20 something years ago when I was in college. BITCH
Yakuza are known as gamblers, it's not just because they gamble, they take chances on their life for their business. This scene was about the old school Yakuza from Japan reminding the guys in L.A. what it really meant to be Yakuza. You're looking at this scene from a western perspective, lonious.
yakuza are some crazy ass gangstaz..from slicing open bellies to choppin off one's pinky to staking your life for your boss...man the loyalty and honor these crazy japs have
i think they were very secure, not like modern europeans and americans that must hold back in everything. their friendship was so deep... you normally wony experience such friendship, if you do you are extremely lucky.
woaa!!! i have this movie on dvd but its the less explicit version i guess cuz in mine it doesnt show the gragic brains on the wall part...it jus makes the gun sound then shows him dead
I'd like to see this one, though it's supposedly a lot less subtle than some of Kitano's other gangster movies. At least you can always count on the great soundtrack by Hisaishi.
u stupid ass wut do think brother is about? a japanese immigrant? lolz i don't dis agree with u i love scorsese work! goodfellas is one of my fav move..
man...u are more stupid than this 2 guys...brother is the story of one yakuza bodyguard who is being exilated in America...here he has a step brother , he is fearless , he confronts all the chiefs in the city and because of a foolish ideea he loses all...this is not a gangsta movie..where do u see negros or mexicans ...its only about yakuza..yakuza is not a gang , band..etc..yakuza its a society...a familly...
u stupid anyway! look at wutt i wrote..."if anyone lies gangsta movies this is the movie to watch" i didn't say this was the ultimate movie...unlike u i got a life im not gonna sit here and argue with u!
lol ur already argueing.I think that saying "this is the movie to watch" is pretty much a suggestion of the ultimate choice. If ppl get u misunderstanded in talkbacks it dosnt mean u should start a fight/argue/trashing u name it.shame we could had a nice chat on gengsta films now u blew it.I liked Brother it has an intense ending but its constract is pretty simple.gosh u ppl drw out the fun of talkbacks.specialy thos who argue with themselves.

I think meaning this scene "The Way of the Samurai is found in death"
In yakuza's society and samurai's society, there is a common feature.
(But, I dont understand whether modern yakuza has samurai spirit.)
hata55 2 years ago
hata55 San :
Samurai culture was fertile ground for yakuza spirit.
And daimyo mentality obviously prefigured oyabun mentality.
In the final analysis, what do you expect from a civilization where a prominent value is this :
"all tricks are allowed for victory" ?
PARALLEL. About English people, they say this:
"Remove the gentleman's smoking suit, and underneath you find the blood-stained shirt of the pirate".
The crisis showed :
Keidanren = Oyabun Club.
You can trust only Jesus Christ.
