  • Gorgeous voice, dreadful wig and most terrible and unfortunately fitted costume.

  • IDK what it is, but she doesn't seem like a Belle... she has a pretty voice though

  • omg i didn't know miss trunchbull was in beauty and the beast!

  • Im gonna be belle in my school musical now i am very confident myslef

  • Maybe slightly too operatic for Belle, but beautiful. On a huge professional stage, this girl would make a brilliant Belle because of the strength of her voice - it would not strain it and ruin it. Lovely!

  • I disagree, I much prefer a classic/operatic take on belle rather than the pop belter crap thats common place nowerdays

  • That's not opera. Trust me. She's just been trained properly. That's how my voice is and I was trained for a year at Millikin University (alma mater to Jodi Benson and the original Little Mermaid on Broadway). Voices are much better when they're trained properly like hers.

  • I didn't mean opera; I said "operatic", implying her voice is too classically trained for what was written in a contemporary style. On a WE stage, a well trained voice is needed for annuciation, & for it to not be strained. I never said anything against trained voices: I've learnt in my lessons that everything related to singing improves (as you would know); your posture, your breathing etc. My point was that this girl's voice cannot be fully appreciated by this style; it's not very demanding.

  • Amazing vocals!

  • Thanks you guys! :) I appreciate your nice comments.

except missfrootloop. but then again what would a 13 year old know? ;-)

  • AMAZING voice. Very well done singing. She seems a bit awkward on stage, though. Maybe more movements with her arms would have made it a bit more believable. :)

  • my friend sings this really welllllllllllllllllllllll tooooooooooooooooo

  • MusicalTheatreLove-

I agree that there are different ways to sing the song:) Nice comment:))

But i will admit i didn't love this.

  • it sounds like shes trying to sing in an opera style...

  • Wow. Very nice. I'm glad they cast you! You have a very pretty voice and your acting is well done.

The Beast's acting from what I could see was very well done too.

  • Wow! Beautiful!

  • MusicalTheaterLove, your comment made me smile! It's good to know some people can appreciate a different way of doing things. Exactly the way I felt when I was singing in this clip! :)

  • I love that this goes to prove that there are multiple ways to do a part. I wish everyone would stop belting Belle's part.

  • She's very talented! I love how she took Belle into her own perspective and used some operatic influences into her vocals, even though it's not traditionally used for Belle. I also really love how she's not soprano, with the high voices typically used for Belle. Her voice is so rich and lovely.

  • @Kysentha You can be a soprano but have a "rich" voice. The timbre and tone of the voice doesn't dictate the classical range. Me, for example. I have a much lower and "richer" voice than a friend of mine, yet we are both sopranos. This woman is probably a dramatic soprano as opposed to a lyric soprano.

  • What a powerful Voice!, this Girl is Amazing!!!

  • omg! this is a day after my b-day! and this belle is awsome.. i loveher!

  • Belle has an absolutely amazing voice. I hope she continues to do shows like this, if not it would be a waste of great talent!

  • thank you.

i am auditioning for belle this week and i was looking for a little inspiration, i was unsuccessful until i saw your video. you are the only one i listened all the way through. great job.

    any tips for my audition?

  • i was the beast so i worked a lot with our Belle. you should definitely watch the disney movie version to see how she talks and composes herself (she and I both did that for auditions and for rehearsals. it helped a lot). Just try and put yourself in her shoes to understand why she says and does everything. it will give you a lot of perspective on her part...

  • Wow, beast was really good, that one little snippet of him I saw. Ur awesome, 2!

  • thanks everyone!

i love reading your nice comments about me!

    =)

  • u deserve it!

btw dont take notice those awful comments.

opera singing this song was amazing!

  • this is by far the bst version of this song i have found on youtube so far

  • My high school is doing Beauty and the Beast, and the audition song is this. I looked everywhere, and there were multiple versions, but this is the only one that was the version I was given.

    Thank you for posting this!!!!

And to all of those people who are ignorant to the ways of great musicians and who's opinions are WRONG... well, I think I just said it when I was naming you guys... Great job!!!

  • too much vibrato...but other than that you were absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    good job!!!

  • I'm a sophmore vocal performance major myself and I must say you have a gorgeous voice!!! How long have you been studying?

  • thank you so much for your sweet comments about my performance in this clip! they keep me singing!

  • I dont care what anyone says about opera and musical theatre singing styles. Your an Excellent Belle!

  • Awesome!

  • a forward voice is a loud Musical Theatre voice which is more character voice types

Opera is placed back and is a lower darker sound...sometimes this is also used in Musical Theatre depending on the musical

to not use terminology I will say that she has a lovely rich dark voice one that is very lovely indeed but my not be liked by all for this particular character

I would like to add that I think that this performer has a beautiful voice and is a wonderful actress and she will go far

  • um....opera singing is not placed at the back!!!!??? lol.

and have you ever heard of a sop?! because "opera" is not necessarily low and dark! LOL. that would be perhaps the classification of a contralto.

  • @babybackribswithbbq No voices are ever placed back. Whoever told you that is incorrect Just because a sound is richer and darker doesn't mean that it's not sung forward. Singing into the back of the throat is bad technique, you should always sing up and forward regardless of the timbre or genre of the voice.

  • ok so that's me in the video. i just found this today and want to thank all of you for your sweet comments! nice people like you keep me motivated.

to all who were not so nice, i was 18 when i did this show. i've been training in college for 3 years now, so i can do lots more. =)

  • hey i'll be playing belle in the fall for our high school...any tips or anything??

  • make the character your own. really understand the words you are singing and saying and use that for how "Belle" would feel and act in each situation. reverting to the disney movie can even be helpful for acting tips. i know that it helped me with the voice for the beast.

  • i would say that she has a verry mature voice, and acts in in a mature way..

i think belle should be a younger charector..

but it was still verr nice!

  • 1. There is no such thing as an "Opera voice". There are voices that are suited for opera, which I agree hers is, but no one has a "opera voice". If you think that, then you are probably thinking a dark unrealistic sound. Listen to Natalie Dessay and tell me that she sounds like what you think "Opera" is.

    2. She is a fine Belle. She is not singing this as she would sing an opera aria. She had a very forward placement and mixes quite a bit of chest in her lower register. She is great!

  • Actually, her placement isn't very forward. Very very beautiful voice, don't get me wrong. But it's a different type of stage voice. Opera & musical theatre are two VERY different styles of voice. She's got some major talent, though! :)

  • She does have a more classical sound. As a singer trained in both classical and musical theater styles, they are completely different. One promotes air and the other is about holding back air. this girl has a lovely voice, but Belle is more of a belting role. So she would need to hold back the air to have a more focused belt sound and not sing this in head voice.

  • actually you never want to hold back any of your air...that is just an ignorant comment. you actually need more air to control the "operatic" style, even if it's not as loud.

  • I said you have to hold back the air to belt. Classical promotes air...I've taken 10 years of classical voice so I know. Belting requires chord closure and less air to come through the vocal chords. This comes from the speech level singing method which method which I'm also trained in. And musical theater is not suppose to be operatic unless it is a legit soprano role.

This is in no way to say that the singer does not sound good. She does a lovely job.

  • wow opera but shes pretty good actually really really good

  • good singing wise but the dress and hair does not flatter you at all.

  • Cut out some of the vibrato, and you have a fabulous belle!

  • Apart from a too much vibrato in places, it's very good. Maybe her voice is a little too mature for the part, but if she trained in different styles i'm sure it wouldn't sound that way. She definatly has a fabulous voice though.

  • I think you all should hear the Hungarian version... she sings with true feelings... not like the others.

  • Hey, I'll take this over screaming in chest voice any day.

  • Wow, so beautiful and real singing.

It's about damn we got some with a supported sound singing the role of belle.

  • i think this girl (who played belle) would have a good opera voice for the wardrobe!

  • yeah i don't think her voice is good for belle either. its too mature and too much soprano, i think belle is supposed to be a mezzo,

but she does have an absolutely amazing voice, its just not belle's.

  • nod.

But compared to the belt fest going on with the other videos, I'd take this any day.

  • ....quite honestly, i don't think her voice is quite suited to be Belle. Please don't take that as an insult. Her voice is way too operatic to be Belle. Belle's voice is supposed to be sweet and innocent. I would think her voice would be suited for Phantom of the Opera or something relevant to that. She does have an amazing voice though!

  • is this my future christine i hear??? shes better than Sarah Brightman!!!!!

  • She should go out for Christine in POTO if she can hit the notes :)

  • gorgeous voice, a really differnt view on Belle

  • i love your voice! im actually trying to learn how to sing this song and your video will come in handy for me!

  • I love her operatic voice. its something she should be very proud of. not everyone has that kind of voice.

    i envy her.

  • Exactly. I wish I had that kind of classic tone to my voice. She's one of the best Belle's I've heard not only on Youtube but anywhere.

  • It's nice to hear something from musical theater sung by a well-trained singer. Too many times, sound is compromised for look. The world of theater is one of looks, but this girl singing here is 18. I'd rather hear a teenage operatic soprano sing this song well; rather than a teenage singer that sounds her age or younger. Yes, Belle is intended to look a little different; but give me a good voice any day over someone who looks the part. BRAVA!!!

  • i couldn't put it better myself. thanks a lot though. check out the rest of our show...

  • definitely

  • Where is this at? Belle doesn't look like a Belle. And her voice is too operatic.

  • she may not look like the perfect belle, but nobody does. all that matters is that she could act it and sing the crap out of it.

  • She has a lovely voice, but it's not suited to Belle IMO (which obviously your director thought otherwise). Her acting is passable, but I wouldn't say she acted the "crap" out of it.

  • i was referring to her singing capabilities.
