  • 0:39 He got a wicked headache from singing wrong. i kno cuz i sing and that happens to me sometimes. fuckin hate it!

  • he was 49

  • I saw every tour they did to Australia - and damn proud of it! I think I was about thirteen for their first one, wading through a sea of black leather jackets and snarling men to get close enough to see them, and yes, I had original copies of their first two (or three!?) albums (when albums were that black plastic stuff, not cds) Oh, maybe more than that, I didn't have Ramones, Ramones, but I had Leave Home, Rocket to Russia, Road to Ruin and End of the Century

  • nice

  • ONE TWO THREE FOUR AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  • 1 2 3 4 !!!!!!

  • shaggy greasey hair, skin tight pants, leather jackets, gutairs, and flying panties

    i love rockstars.

  • ramones ruleeeeaaann

  • the ramones the best band of all times fuck the beatles and the stones

  • @SidEskorbuto they don't need to be proclaimed best. punk rock is not about being best or something, it's just random average people playing guitars for fun not for profit or popularity and shit. a

  • this is my opinion

    casualties=wankers

    greenday=wankers

    sex pistols=wankers

  • @DemonlitionVoid agreed

  • @DemonlitionVoid Hey!

green day = WANKERS! TOTALY WANKERS! FUCKING WANKERS!

SEX PISTOLS = KICK YOUR FUCKING WANKER ASS!

  • @lauraduclosbesa dude maybe you should do some research before you start talking shit!

  • @DemonlitionVoid i like the casualties, but greenday and sex pistols...make me wanna punch a deer...

  • @squatchism haha lol

the casualties are aalright i guess, their older stuff was good

  • @DemonlitionVoid i agree, basically everything from On the Front Line and back was legit

  • guys if you wanna argue about who made punk first then just search for iggy & the stooges or mc5 on youtube and then shut up.. but anyway who the fuck cares about who did punk first?

  • Haha Dee Dee at teh begining

  • to get this strait: the sex pistols already existed before the first ramones concert in the UK. so did the clash. in fact the CLASH had their debut the night before the RAMONES concert, opening for the SEX PISTOLS!!!

apparently the sex pistols were allready inspired by the records rather than the cocert.

  • what's this crap? the only real punk band is simple plan.

  • @SGKlD hahaha good one :D......your joking right?

  • @SGKlD uhhhhhmmmm ur kidding?

  • @SGKlD Hahahaha you're an idiot.... simple plan is closer to emo than punk... all their songs are so sad, and not even close to sticking it to the man... I mean, I like Simple Plan and all, they're a fairly good band, but definitely not punk.

  • @dstib2 I was trolling. Simple Plan are NOT a good band. They do not classify as music.

  • The ramones were the first one to even speak of punk. he/she is right, they brought the sex pistols and the rest of the punk bands....

  • they were btotally high...high on rock!

  • @persononinternet And probably heroin too

  • @amk32390 lol REALLY? :p

  • @persononinternet Yes. I feel what they are talkingabout in this video.

  • 0:01 wtf??? xD

  • Ramones was soul of punk and it'll remain it forever!

  • Now I guess I'll have to tell 'em That I got no cerebellum ..

The best lyrics in a song ever

  • HEY! HO! LET'S GO! RAMONES 4 EVER!

  • oni wciaz rzadza!

  • wtf is a lobotomy

  • @MyspaceQueen66

it is a brain surgery to remove the front part of the brain which creates spontanious thinking, without it you are pretty much a shit head and they used to do the surgery to people that they accused of being mad and a threat.

good film- "one flew over the cookoos nest" with jack nickleson, he has a lobotomy in the film.

now you know what a lobotomy is.

  • Joey and Lemmy, both said that they are playing Rock`n Roll. Punk rock is fast Rock`n Roll, with the fucking attitude and something to say!

  • Man I LOVE the choppy-rapid-rythms and chord changes!

  • these fuckin' guitar chords!.......

  • @theMagicButtFace Thanks for the recommendation, i will definitely listen to some of that.

  • I love Joey!!!! Missing him a lot. Too bad i seem to be born in the wrong time!!! I'll never get to see them in concert

  • Marky !!!

  • Of this genre only the clash has anything like the wit of the Ramones, and to my ears only the Voidoids were more inventive. Its not by coincidence that marc Bell was in both the Voidoids and the Ramones. But the ramones were really not a typical punk rock band. Their love was early 1960s surfer music, which they amped up big time and added their own bizarre sense of humor, but they never lost the music. Thats whet to me at least made them great.

  • joey ramones an above average punk singer. this is some good surf rock style shit... more punk bands nowadys need to have good singers

  • Comment removed

  • @HouseofSouls hate to break it to you, but green day is not punk at all. listen to some black flag, sex pistols, clash and dead kennedys, then you'll know what punk is.

  • @HouseofSouls why the bloody shit should i fucking care about marketing pop band.u want to talk about gay day? go to their awful videos in youtube n comment. thank you.qweer.

  • I'm a Teenage Lobotomy!

  • saw these guys in Toronto in 1978 and still rates as one of the best shows I ever saw

  • haha! can't stop laughing at Dee Dee in the beginning!

  • I'm a teenage lobotomy

  • How the heck did these guys play so fast????

  • great song..but listen to "FEELS A LONG JOURNEY" by The Mod Squad...its the biggest song in Australia..and its changing peoples lives overnight!..take a listen-classic!

    they are ramones fans

  • @Kellybarbiedoll song isn't that good

  • lmao at dee dee at the beginning lol

  • I'm an "adult" lobotomy now LOL!

  • molan sus peinadossss jajaja

  • I'm glad I got to see them live before Joey died.

  • @TattooedHoodlum wow!!!!! seriouslyy??????? :DD

  • @ezmoola23 Um no fail

  • what about the new york dolls, the germs, and the stooges?

  • Is that dee dee in the beginning??

  • earth has not anything to show more fair

  • the ramones defined punk rock and they are the most succesful punk rock band in history and always will be. they were fucking insane rockers and i wish they were still around now.

  • @runecrafter69 While I agree they are the best punk band, they arent even close to the most succesfull. The most succesfull punk bands

    1. Greenday- I dont even consider them punk

    2. The offspring

  • @runecrafter69 green day is probably more succesful then the ramones but the ramones are more influential and wayy better

  • @killgore2100 yeah well influentual remains after seccesful goes broke.. since the first means something and the second just.... gets :)

  • @killgore2100 Damn right. In faact Green Day isn't even punk.

  • @runecrafter69

worst monday ever was opening the USA Today and seeing the article Joey Ramone dead at 43.

  • @mrpogo72 he was 49 when he died.

  • @mrpogo72 I think he was 49...

  • @mrpogo72 joey didnt die at 43 he was 49 years old

  • Comment removed

  • @runecrafter69 The Ramones was the greatest Punk band for sure and one of the greatest bands ever but the sad thing was that they weren't as successful as they wanted to be or should've been in the States.

  • @skatobetho no u got it a little wrong man. they were extremely underrated throughout there carreer but suddenly in 2008 for some reason they hit huge and now everyone thinks there like the best. i mean people are listening to stuff like darkest hour, black veil brides, the ramones? lol and if im typing a little stupid its cuz im baked as hell

  • @runecrafter69

    Damn Right !!!

  • @runecrafter69 you do realize that they weren't succesful until after they split up right?

  • @ThraxNecro You do realize that you are a complete moron right?

  • @runecrafter69 so what WHATTTTTTTTT i don't give a fuck i just like their music,

  • the ramones were the first to use the word "punk".

Malcom McLaren saw them on their first London concert and then started the Sex Pistols. He owned a clothing shop in London and started the punk rock as a fashion accessory, to cash in on. Original punk rock had nothing to do with mohawks, spikey hair and jewelry. Its was everything the Ramones were.

  • But wouldn't you want to put it all together and just call it 'punk'?

  • because punk rock was under ground not a main stream fashion :) love the Ramones ^^

  • dude that's what i love about these true bands. the ramones wore leather jackets and jeans. the clash wore like, button down shirts. the dead kennedys just wore T shirts. you don't need all this ridiculous shit just to prove yourself. it's about the music, not the fashion statement.

  • well i like ur comment but im pretty sure the pistols were the first to consider themselves in public as a punk band (probably mclarens strategy). thats probabley was the reason why punk rock was considered to start in 77 and not in 74-75 (years of the first ramones gigs). 77 Punk explosion was due to pistol punk identity so the fans admitted punk as their own identity and form their own bands based on ramones and pistols. Im not trying to argue here but thats just the idea i have. ramones rock!

  • punk really began in the late late 60s with bands like the velvet underground and mc5. Im not really a big fan of velvet underground, but i do love mc5.

  • no man those band are consider proto-punk cause they shared some ideas that punks bands i the 70s used to build their own style .. anyway mc5 rocks :O

  • proto punk is bands before the 70s bro. You are right they are proto punk. they didnt really help shape the sound of the music as much, but they were the influence for the anger and "harder faster louder" in the punk songs after the 70s. they had almost the same sound with many subtle changes(im thinking of stooges and mc5 right now). stooges rule too!

  • well u know theyre some other interesting protopunk bands lessknown like the sonics, los saicos or the thrashmen ... new york dolls too and in mi personal oppinion they did had a pre-punk sound

  • oh yeah i know a bunch of protopunk bands. ive heard of new york dolls, and the sonics. And the germs are awesome too. Some other ones are The kinks and The who are a bigger protopunk band.

  • But i dont know why everyone hates modern punk rock( like 90s-now) I mean bands like all time low SUCK but i like a lot of Green Day music, especially their early stuff. People are just arrogant that they changed and "sold out". I think selling out is a fake term, used to make bands look bad. If a band likes their music they arnt selling out.

  • yeah not to mention saying popular stuff suck is also a popular thing nowadays (actually since the beginnig of times) makes people seem more cult or some shit like that

  • i guess. but i mean all time low really does suck. theres no doubting that. when you listen to bands like the ramones, and then switch over to all time low or some shit, there is a huge difference. im sorry, i dont think im in some hate clut or something, but i dont like that kind of music.

  • all time low really does suck, don't apologize over any of that hahaha

  • @717mienbao YEAH word man

the real punk of the seventies was nothing but the filthy, retarted little brother of rock. tight jeans, leathers jackets, two chords, speed, aggression. nowadays the word punk has a whole different meaning.. dont get me wrong, i like the style with its studs and mowhawks... but after all its nothing but fashion. i wish i was 15 in 1976

  • @717mienbao real punk is about being yourself, has nothing to do with mohawks, spikes or being everything the ramones are either.and as for sex pistols fuck them they aint punk at all they were also trying to cash in,and in a way the ramones did as well. punk is true when it stays underground.im not saying the ramones are bad but i wouldnt say they defined punk eithe.if anything crass defined real punk and kept it true and out of the mainstream followed by real punk bands like conflict, dirt, gbh.

  • @APenisWithLegs You just said it yourself you pretentious ass, "they're really an electro band"...then that makes them NOT PUNK..if they played punk rock then they'd be called a punk rock band dorko. The word itself "punk" has been around for a long time, to use the word in regards to the music (see Ramones) was given by Dee Dee to refer to the the street culture in which he was an originator. Go Fvck urself.

  • Damn straight mate, RAMONES are the shit that began it all......The Clash were together at the time RAMONES visited London, they hadn't recorded yet because they thought they weren't good enough. I think it was Joey that told that they weren't real good either but don't let that stop ya......the rest as they say is history and spawned and inspired a lot of great bands.....

  • @717mienbao i am not trying to be rude or sarcastic or anything like that..but when you get a chance, go and wikipedia the band SUICIDE(1970) and read what it says about the word PUNK...

  • @717mienbao

The Pistols started in 75. The Ramones played in London in 76. There were many British '' Punk Groups'' going before the Ramones. The word ''punk'' was used in the 60s and when it was applied to The Pistols Johnny Rotten hated the word. The Sex Pistols were in a few forms and names before the Pistols name. The Ramones are the dog's bollocks and i love em, have done for 30+ years..

  • @sussbox The sex pistols weren't punk until the ramones came to town and then they were rebooted...basically they were the Monkees of punk

  • @sussbox the pistols suck, they had to crawl thru the backstage window in london just to meet the ramones, dumb ass

  • @TheCalvarium I am far from a ''dumb ass''. Yes some members of The Clash and The Pistols climbed through a window to get in. Do you think its better to pay and then stand at the back at a gig, or go by the direct route and meet the band personally via a window in the alley and then talk to them and watch them play all free of charge. The Pistols and Clash did this also for their fans. The Ramones were a ''punk''cartoon band, the Pistols had slightly more serious songs lol.

  • @717mienbao

No, Dewey Cox did it first!

  • @717mienbao Actually The Who (Joey's favorite band) used Punk before The Ramones in 1973

  • @717mienbao not quite right fella. Pistol's came first, Joey was inspired by them. McLaren never owned the clothes shop, Vivien Westwood did, and went on to be one of the major fashion designers for the next 30 years. They were a couple for a few years though. x Ramones are punk Godsin their own right. x

  • @markpease Not to get into some great debate. McClaren did own the shop with Vivien, he was as involved as she was. Ramones formed in 1974. McClaren formed the Sex Pistols in 1975 (the year the Ramones released their first album) by adding Rotten and then later in '77 Sid. They released "Nevermind the Bollocks.."

    in 1976.

As John Lydon later observed, "Malcolm and Vivienne were really a pair of shysters: they would sell anything to any trend that they could grab onto."

  • What's that Dee Dee at the beginning making those silly noises? hahahaha

  • I always thought he said sludgefest with an octopus hahha

  • No, Iggy did.

    No, the MC5 did.

    No, Jerry Lee Lewis did.

  • No, the who did.

  • @jimcamp3 At least somone posting here knows rock history. I thought this site was all idiots, all the time. The Ramones get the credit (mostly deserved) but they didn't really invent the sound. They invented three chords (or maybe just two) and a cloud of dust. God bless 'em!

  • the ramones started out as the ramones, then punk rock came around and they were still the ramones

  • whats the name of the song where theyre in front of a tv trying to find a channel of them but it doesnt work

its a music video but i cant find it!?

    please help me out!

  • I wanna be sedated or Bonzo Goes to Bitzburg.

  • rock n roll radio

  • do you remember rock 'n roll radio? thats the song

  • -sigh- you poor sheltered child. :]

  • those bands will never be accepted as punk. The Ramones However are indisputedly punk.

  • agreed, theyre more like alternative, and yes, the ramones are punk (and somewhat hard rock)

  • Lol, I don't quite like any of them, but I saw an interview with Avril once, where she said herself that she isn't punk.

  • this song is awesome, agaINST ME is on a major label, so were clash and ramones, who cares, everybody knows nfg and blink182 suck so quit bitchin

  • lobotomy!! lobotomy!! lobotomy!! lobotomy

  • Man, Johnny's Mosrite sounded awesome at this show! Hey Pagantongue, do you have the "I wanna be sedated" clip from that same show in Italy?

  • 0:17 i like that twirl that Johnny did =P

  • omg just shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hehm you guys below... have no life?

  • since when does writing paragraph long comments on youtube mean you have no life?

  • I actually i have no life, i just read all of that arguement

  • you'd be surprised by how many do know about them

  • even tho they may be mainstream, almost nobody now a days knows about em

  • thanks to friggin' bs guitar hero everyone does now.

  • Guitar Hero is just corporate bullshit, go over to New Found Glory and Good Charlotte videos and tell the kids they aren't punk lol they flame your ass and cry

  • whoever says the Ramones arent punk dont know anything about anything. Just because they are big NOW, doesnt make them sellouts or any less punk rock. It just shows how their demographic has grown up and still loves their kick-a music.

  • green day were once great but they seem to have lost their way

  • greenday like... 1991 was good lol

  • im loling right now.....

yes, ramones are mainstream. they're on rock band, for petes sake.

  • uhh guys Morgan Freeman told me as staetd by Note # 25. Punk is not dead, its just a zombie

  • Punk was buried, on a Pet Sematary...

  • The main point I think I want to show is stop talking about Sad Disgusting bands and just stick to the Ramones, after all this is a Ramones Vidio, I want all you greenday fans to know If I ever see you I will beat you with a Hot iorn fire Poker and so will any true Ramones fan, now give me all the thumbs down you posably can muster use all of your exra acounts, tell your friends, make it count now

  • Blink 182 is mainstreamshit and not Punk!

  • Are you fucking retarded. Do you know GreenDay started in the punk scene, they went to shows in Gilman street when Punk was flourishing...They played later on, and yes were allowed into the punk scene, although criticized for their writing of love songs and some pop roots. You sir have it wrong, theyw ould tear you up, because im sure they have experienced much more of the punk scene then you did. Im not even gonna get upset over something a selfaccalimed critic.

  • Not upset?!

    Wake up!

    PtB

  • For all this Green Day crap everyone's going on about, they are not classed as punk, they've always been kind of pop/punk, or punk rock. No-one has ever said they are TRUE punk, and if they have they are wrong. However, they were inspired VERY MUCH by the punk music, but THEY have never generated true punk music. They are a branch that has come off from them. When they covered the Ramones songs, i personally think they did a good job, it didnt need to be super fast, look at the original songs.

  • they started out very punk, listen to anything off 1039/smoothed out slappy hour or kerplunk

that is them in the late 80's/early 90's before they signed to a mainstream label and got banned from 924 gilman street

  • Most people who make comments like Johnny Rotten are getting too caught up in the "scene" of being a punk instead of just BEING a punk. Punk is about FUCK THE WORLD, nothing else. Get over the sand in your vaginas, you pussies. Grow a pair and stop trolling people that you're jealous of.

  • I'm ashamed that we listen to the same music. Please, stick to Blink 182.

  • Fuck Blink 182 and fuck you

  • I think Green Day is punk. Or at least USE to be punk

Listen to their Kerplunk album and you'll understand.

Regardless, even if they aren't punk, they're still great musicians. Mostly because they don't let shit comments like the ones below influence the music that THEY want to make. Besides, I don't ever remember Green Day comparing themselves with The Ramones.

  • I just watched Greenday perform this song and Blitzkreig Bop for when The Ramones where inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They SUCKED !!! I was hoping that they would do The Ramones some justice---one of the biggest selling punk bands playing original punk music...I like Greenday but they can't play fast enough and don't have enough attitude to cover The Ramones.

  • Quit insulting Green Day. They're a great band, regardless of their genre.
