There was a breakin at the airport that very morning and evidence that someone had used boltcutters to access the area where baggage was kept. Instead of watching the evening news or reading the odd snippet in the newspaper, do some proper research. The bomb was more than likely placed on the plane at Heathrow. There was a breakin at the airport that very morning and evidence that someone had used boltcutters to access the area where baggage was kept. Would a bomb have been robust enough to travel from Malta via Frankfurt then to Heathrow at the mercy of the baggagehandlers? No, it was put on at the last possible moment.

I am outraged at some of the racist venom directed against the Scots (of which I am one) for a decision that was made by the Scottish Government, NOT BY THE SCOTTISH PEOPLE regarding this alleged bomber. This bollox from people whose country runs Guantanomo Bay and flies suspects around the world to be tortured and executes people who were juveniles at the time they committed their crimes, not to mention their involvement with the IRA, well done Steway89 for pointing that out.

At the end of the day, this was a decision for Scotland, not for the US. They'd been trying to pressurise the Scottish government for weeks to not let this man walk free. It didn't work and they don't like it. I obviously sympathise with the families of the victims, but there were a lot of British victims in this bombing as well but all the US give a shit about is themselves, so why should we give a shit about what they think?

I'd have more sympathy for the US on this issue if your country, against OUR wishes, hadn't harboured IRA terrorist scum, who killed THOUSANDS of British people and still do today, for years on end. Or maybe you could class George W. Bush as a terrorist, for leading UK soldiers to their deaths in an illegal war against Iraq? Or for killing many British soldiers in "friendly fire"? I have sympathy for the victims families, but not for the US.

I have sympathy for all the victims in the plane & in lockerbie town..also for the families..but not for the bomber or the politicians of any of the 3 countries involved..so lets not start branding the countrymen of either the USA or Scotland...both countries were victims.

I'd like to think we are friends, but don't friends accept each other for what they are? Scotland have a policy of compassion. Accept it, and tell your fellow nationals to stop throwing their dummies out the pram. All this shit about boycotting Scotland and the UK is pathetic. I personally accept the fact that you have different laws in your country than ours, yes. I agree that some over here do not accept it.
I care for the victims, both of our countries have been victims of terrorism over the last few decades (ourselves before you, ironically enough). That's why we fight side-by-side in Afghanistan isn't it? That's why we have the second highest number of troops in the country. That's why we've lost over 200 lives, fighting terrorism.

The British government tells us not to execute people all the time. In fact, our government must give assurances in writing that we will not execute the criminals Britain extradites to our country. It's in that 2003 Extradition treaty signed by David Blunket. You know, the one you guys hate so much. :)

This wasn't done to snub the US - this is the law in scotland, and quite a few scots don't agree with the decision, but.. if you want to change it there's a democratic process to do so.
Boycott us if you want, but don't forget, Scots died in the bombing itself, and scottish soldiers are currently operating and dying alongside americans in theatres from iraq to helmand.

I think there will be anger, then the Americans will realise:
