I absolutely agree with everyone else - Battle's jaw-troubles developed a few years after this, but her technique was just flawless here! Her voice just makes me want to melt...there's so much depth to every tone she produces.

She just has a beautiful voice. This is one of my favorite pieces by Strauss, and she performs it wonderfully! Her voice holds power, but she controls it so well, so even though you know it's there, you only get a little bit at a time. Beautiful.

There's just something about the quality of her voice in the early to mid 80s that was 100% ideal and perfect. I love that you keep posting vids from that special period. If you ever get the chance to post more clips from the rosenkavalier performance you have I'd love it :)
