@eniben4 Are you kidding? Mendes made 'Road to Perdition,' 'Jarhead,' 'Revolutionary Road,' and is slated to direct the twenty-third Bond movie among other films. He's still definitely going strong critically and commercially. Jonze, aside from music videos, made two other films after 'Being John Malkovich:' 'Adaptation' and 'Where the Wild Things Are.' Mendes is clearly still going much stronger than Jonze.

Mendes' direction was elegant and sharp, but this award should have been handed to Spike Jones for the masterpiece he turned out in BJM. His direction went above and beyond and delved deep into a imaginative relam -- that was still grounded in reality.
