Do you know how to locate the parent Hydrocarbon? Like 3-ethyl 2,4,5-methyloctane? My book will not tell me how to find the parent, except that it's the longest chain in the molecule. But there are two chains of 8. And the Parent Hydrocarbon is bent.

How does that work?...
