  • omg it's so pretty i looks so real!! i wish i could paint something like this!! and what is the thing that u smooch with ur finger? and how long did this actually take how long did it take to master this skill? anyway if i want to buy it how much should pay ?? lol just kid im 12 anyway im so jealuse of u!! and how old are u when u draw this anyways :)

  • @oliviacomments Hello! Thank you so much for your great comments, you're so nice! I'm using only my finger to smudge the soft stick pastels. I then build the pencil color and use the "next" color to blend the previous layer rather than smudging with a stomp or finger or eraser. This little painting is 4"x5" and took all of one day to complete. I sell this size for $375 custom framed. I started drawing a little younger than you are now and now I have grown kids. Thanks again! :)) Roby

  • Absolutely AMAZING! Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us :).

  • @szherti Hello! You're welcome and thank you so much for the lovely comment. :)) Roby

  • How did u know this was 1 of my fave musics?

  • @moshimonstersrulez I took a wild guess! :))

  • Wow! It's awsome!!!

  • I really like watching you work.

The part i like best is watching you turn the eye to glass

It seems to change in about four strokes or 1 blink.

Very cool. You are very good at getting each part fully detailed before moving on.

Its kind of a sunrise the way you work the painting.

The layering and how you use it for texture is incredible.

You start strong and finnish strong.

I am just learning and keep that thought along with everything else you teach me.

    Thanks

  • WoW!

  • @AlumiiniLautanen Thank you! :) Roby

  • The Music makes it oh so epic.

  • is this Wallis paper? Also, do you hand sharpen your pencils or do you do it by machine:? Sharpening pastel pencils has become the bane of my existance. They either break or crumble or I can't get a good point ----- I have finally settled to just using those little red plastic General's sharpeners...but I'd love to find a good electric sharpener.

  • @Bhav341 Hello there! My paper is Bristol Board 500 series cold press Vellum or rag illustration board. I get it at Dick Blick on line. I use the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener. It works great for my pastel pencils. I get it at Office Max. Be sure to get the warrenty as you'll always need to replace it when the blades get dull. Dull blades brake the pastel off inside the sharpener, can't get away from it. I use an awl to dig it out if I can't remove it by tapping hard on the sharpener cont

  • @Bhav341 Be careful to hold the pencil very straight when sharpening as holding it crooked will also break it. When the sharpener is new you'll get the most glorious sharp points and you only need to sharpen for about a second after the initial sharpening. As time goes on and the blades start to dull you'll need to hold it in longer. You'll get the feel for it! I'd be lost without it and wouldn't want to take all the time to hand sharpen. Good luck!! :))

  • Csodálatos!

  • @idafida Thank you! :))

  • Fantastic work, it's beautiful!

May I ask what those pencils are?

  • @TheBlessedEquestrian Hello! Thanks so much! My pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils and I get them at Dick Blick on line. :))

  • @0964vava Hello! As best as I can tell from the translater I think you are talking about watercolor pencils. I use CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with pastel sticks and I get them at Dick Blick here online. You can use water with them but I never have. My favorite pastel sticks are Sennelier, Unison, Schmincke and Rembrandt. Thanks for your nice comments, much appreciated! :))

  • show off

  • @Eikova Hi there! Thanks very much! :))

  • @robertarobybaer hi, what pastels are you using. i would really like to know the name and type. they looks like the perfect pastels. and you did an amazing job by the way. :3

  • @ZekeNLutherfan1995 Hello! Thank you very much! I am using CarbOthello pastel pencils. My stick pastels are Unison, Sennelier, Schmincke, Rembrandt and Grumbacher to name a few. My paper of choice is Bristol board or Illustration board 500 series cold press velum. I buy it by the sheet 10-ply. I get most of those supplies at Dick Blick here on line. Good luck! :))

  • @robertarobyaer Hello :3 thanks for answering, and wow, so fast. XD i use grambacher and rembrandt but the others i havent and they look so smooth so ill be trying those soon. and everyone is saying how great dick blick is and i need to go to one of their stores but its over a two hr drive and to be honest im a little lazy in the end of the yr. XD but ill be sure to go 'cuz i can't resist a great art store. thanks again!

  • @ZekeNLutherfan1995 You're welcome! Yeah, give the other brands a try, they are buttery soft and fun to use. We don't have a DB store in our area so I get my supplies on line. :))

  • @ZekeNLutherfan1995 carbothello pencils are one of the best - I also like Brwynzeel. And Derwent for the range of tints - but Derwents are a pain to sharpen.

  • С какой фотокарточки Вы делали? Это , что реклама карандашей или лошади? Где искусство только в скрупулезной работе руками?

  • @dgim921 Hello! I take my own reference photos or get permission to use a photo. The pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils and I get them at Dick Blick here on line. This is 100% all my artwork, no one else. Thank you!! :))

Which photographs did you do? This is what advertising pencils or a horse? Where is the art of meticulous work only in your hands?

  • @robertar Окobybaer

  • @dgim921 Thanks! ;))

  • you are amazing i have done paintings an pictures i will try your idea of pencil and the other thing i cant remember its name oh well but ur gr8

  • @victorious17950 Thanks so much!! I use the CarbOthello pastel pencils in combination with the stick soft pastels. Some of my favorite brands are Unison, Sennilier, Schmincke and Rambrandt. :))

  • truly amazing it has to be said! How long did this actually take to do? x

  • @ogabumwaggle Thanks so much!! It takes most of a day. Sometimes I take two days if I have a busy schedule. The size is 4"x5". :))

  • Are you using oil pastel or chalk pastel? ty

  • @eddieyahooable Hello! I am using soft chalk pastels and CarbOthello pastel pencils. :))

  • @robertarobybaer I'm sorry to bug you, but what are carbOthello pastels? are they regular colored pencils?

  • @eddieyahooable Hi! You're not bugging me at all, no problem. The CarbOthello pencils are pastels and work great in combination with the soft pastel sticks. I get them at Dick Blick here on line.

  • @eddieyahooable Hi! You're not bugging me. They are regular soft pastels in the form of a pencil. They can be tricky to sharpen sometimes but I have great success with the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener. :))

  • WOW you are a amazing painter! the eyes, everything is unbelievably realistic!

  • @theJohanna666 Thank you so much for your nice commnet!! ;))

  • What brand of pencils and crayons do you use? Thanks

  • @cates28752 Hello! I use soft pastels and the pencils are CarbOthello pastel pencils. pastel-pencils. :))

  • Wow - Very Nice! And do I understand you correctly in that you are doing one painting a day? I was also wondering what kind of paper you use and what type of sharpener do you use on your pencils?

  • @rltreasure Hello and thanks! I can complete one of these small 4"x5" paintings in one day but I'm not doing a painting every day. My life is just too busy to be able to pull that off and my paintings are too detailed. My paper is Bristol Board 500 series cold press Vellum and the sharpener that I use is the X-ACTO Powerhouse electric sharpener that I get at Office Max. Thanks again~! :))

  • All I can say is WOW! Would you mind trying to draw Zenyatta, a racehorse?

  • We are a tiny group of volunteers who formed a small Charity to help all the needy Horses & Ponies we could with our meager resources. To try to sustain our work we try to work with people like your good self for mutual benefit. We wondered if you had any artwork you could donate together with a short written piece about your donation and your other work that we could hang the artwork & description in our small gallery for sale to raise funds for the Centre. • @AHadban100 Thank you so much! I do make mistakes sometimes but can usually fix it without any problems. I appreciate your kind words!! Thanks again! :)))

  • wow! amazing!! it looks soo real ^_^ the eyes look... round, glassy

how long have you been doing this?

  • @terriertimetoo Thank you!! I've been working at my art for as long as I can remember!! :)))

  • espectacular!!!

  • @TheBella43 Thank you very much!!! :)))

  • Hello again, I am selling the original miniatures on ebay, if I dont fix them I am worried about them getting damaged either on the scanner, or the trip to new owners, I read about some special sleeves, but in the size I am working with, not sure even about sliding them in and out of a sleeve? I am doing 1 x 1 inch, or smaller than 2x2 inches.

  • @bonnie448 Hi!! It's a tough call about the fixatives! I have found that when I scan an original I can gently lay it face down on the glass without any problems, just be careful. I mount all of my originals on rag foam core for ease of handling for me and my framer (wonderful husband). I will be doing a video sometime showing the process and materials that I use. Try using Glassine paper to cover your originals, that works very well. It's very smooth and is well used in this process for pastels.

  • Hi, when you say layers, are you using a working fixitive and then doing more work after what we see you doing here? I do miniature picutes, and it get to a point where no more pastel will adhere.

    Thanks in advance!

    Arthorse

  • @bonnie448 Hello! Thanks for your question. I don't use any fixatives because they render your painting no longer archivally sound. I'm not knocking them I choose not to. I do several layers, on this painting the mane has 3 different stick pastel colors and then I add more layers as I use my pastel pencils. I'm blending the sticks with my fingers and the pencils I blend the colors together using just the pencil. My paper is Bristol board 500 cold press, it's great for my style of painting.

  • @bonnie448 Also, working with a little harder stick pastel ( Nupastel, Grumbacher, Rembrandt) will allow you to put on more layers. I push the pigment into the paper but I'm not putting a "ton" of pastel down. I use the super soft pastels for the push to the end when you what those great highlights. You can't do too much layering witht he super soft, it will just fall off the paper! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! :))

  • You are awesome!!

  • @FirstShot0116 :))))))!!!!! Thanks

  • Very nice. What kind of paper is it?

  • @Cuatrero7 Thanks! I use Bristol board 500 cold press.

  • I see you use iMovie or iMovie HD. ;)

  • awesome drawing

and is the theme in the backround the beer song ? lol

  • @loveismineforever Thanks!! Yeah, the beer song :))

  • @robertarobybaer Yep Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, hmmmmm education these days? Course I had to look up the spelling!

  • @bonnie448 Heh, heh!!

  • Okay, thanks for your answers

    glg

  • This is a very good work.

But did you use a normal paper or a canvas? (sorry, my english ist very bad =( ) i hope you will answer

    lg

  • @0001LadyDiva Your english is very good! I use Bristol board 500 cold press or rag illistration board. They have a great tooth for my style, not too much texture but enough tooth to work great for pastels. I get them online at Cheap Joes or Dick Blick. Most art supply stores carry them.

  • @robertarobybaer

okay, thanks for your answer. But did you always use the Carbothello pastel pencils for your pictures or did you use variety pastel pencils?

    lg

  • @0001LadyDiva No...in the beginning I used Conte Paris pastel pencils. I personally no longer use them due to the chuncks of grit that rip into your paper and because they are too large to fit most sharpeners. After I found the Carbo's that was it for me. I love them and they are easy to sharpen with electric sharpeners!

  • i stumbled apon your videos about 2 months ago. the moved me to buy pastels, and now im addicted! i cant tell you how much i appreciate you making these videos!

please check out my pastel video, thanks :)

  • @CHloE748 Thank you!!! Great work yourself! :)))

  • Most impressive!!!!!!!!

  • @brikinahonix Thank you!!! :))

  • wow, how long did this take you?

  • @paula1bear2 Hello! This is a small 4x5 painting and it took about 12-15 hours. Thanks!
