  • Some of us still in Britland can be pushed into things. Now I am not saying it is not me. I just notice things. Christ knows what will happen soon in Europe with the lack of making money by respected ways. Maybe certain people want that, you have got to question, honest heart and soul and minded people.

  • Stay away from the godawful Stallone remake.

  • The main character himself is a gangster. But why was portrayed as a ruthless criminal who kills even the innocent people? Why not a vigilante or an anti hero who speaks his mind and think things though? He's sort of an anti-villain to me.

  • @Fanofcartoons1994 Because it can be interesting when the protagonist isn't necessarily a good guy.

  • Put it away Jack. You know you won't use it.

  • @Acnemanpriceagain the gun he means.

  • He's holding a gun in most of the previews. An extension of his personality?

  • cover me you limp dick, muthafucka!!

  • @RichardElden lol Isn't he gay?

  • mmm Might Get Carter...the Movie that is..

  • What a film this is! I watched it for the first time recently and couldn't believe just how good it is. From what I am told, it catches the mood of the era perfectly. Interesting times for sure.

  • @jwgeezer I was there in those times and I prefer the times we have now!

  • @alanheath I wouldn't swap either. Life's a lot easier now, a lot of which is down to technology. It still looks exciting and interesting though.

  • Brilliant upload. Thanks.

  • Cane was cold blooded in this one. Good pic.

  • This is one of the most deceptive trailers in the history of cinema. To watch this trailer, you'd think this was an amazing, action-packed movie with grit and style. But in reality - everything this movie has to offer is IN THE TRAILER. The other 88 minutes are absolute rubbish. This movie eats a massive dick.

  • @s235343 I think yours is a minority opinion.

  • @alanheath Admittedly so. I must say that I appreciate your cordial reply to a post that included the term "massive dick". LOL

  • @s235343 I try to maintain an air of respectability!! BTW, if you want to see where it was filmed, I have most of the locations on my channel!!

  • Sorry, looks stupid, even though I like Caine. I read in the end, he bangs the old landlady, eeck! Play the Kazzoo!

  • woooooooooooooooow this ruins the whole film

  • come on jack you know you wont use it...........the gun he means.

  • @20kiv10 haha philistine.

  • Talk about giving away the entire film in one trailer!

All the key murders/incidents in one neat, tidy package.

  • 'Get Carter' is widely regarded as the best British gangster movie ever made. It was released into cinemas on the eleventh of march 1971. HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, CARTER!

  • 'Get Carter', still the best British Gaangster movie, was released on 11/04/71. Happy 40th Birthday!

  • This was before the gun ban in the UK.

  • The remake with Sly Stalone wasn't all bad. Still not in league with the original though.

  • @rawman18

Thing with the original is Carter is a terrifyingly plausible character. A violent man having a psychotic breakdown etc. Stallone was just all your usual trans-atlantic dong coptering and 'American' machismo.

  • This is what Whitey needs to do to the negro.

  • you're a big man but you're in bad shape, with me its a full time job so behave yourself

  • @tyson10682 Hey jack your car needs a wash.

  • great film

  • 2:11 OWN!!!

  • One of three UK kitchen-sink gangster melodramas released by MGM in the early 70's, the others being "Villain", directed by Michael Tuchner, and "Sitting Target", by Douglas Hickox. "Get Carter" is arguably the best of them. Mike Hodges did a great directing job. Michael Caine is unforgettable.

Despite their age these movies haven't lost their edge; they remain as gritty and mean-spirited as when they were released. There is no cuteness. No narcissism. No bullshit.

  • The trailer gives away quite a lot about the plot, but then again I suppose that although the plot is fascinating, Caines' performance as Carter is simply excellent. One of the best films of all time.

  • @fatboy22222222222222 I have got a lot of films from Newcastle!

  • @fatboy22222222222222 The film was made in 1971 - it is different now.

  • The trailer has a grindhouse/exploitation feel to it.

  • this is an awful trailer of a great film, it practically gives the whole film away!!

  • @hydegent I think it shows just about everything but maybe it does not give the plot away!

  • its alfred

  • i just watch the slyvester get cater and i think american movie is full of crap by trying to make everyone in the movie looks gangster but weak but europe movie they know how to play with violence such as strawdogs,i spit on your grave, original italian job, snatch, das experiment, let the right one in and many more

  • @parisiteparylyze1 - I spit on your grave is American....strawdogs is American-British...I can tell you right now, in the future you should have avoided any american remakes and go straight to the original...

  • Michael Caine always knows how to kill a man with style.

  • That trailer gave away more or less the entire film

  • tough british noir!

  • I think Michael should have kept his shirt on!

  • A great example of an excellent British film (or "movie" according to the Yanks) ruined by a lousy US trailer. Since when has a BR train had an American railroad horn?

  • One of the best films ever, im watching it in film studies and its sooo good

  • please post the whole film~!!

  • This looks awful in my honest opinion.

  • The trailer doesn't do the movie justice. Definitely a classic. Great cinematography and plot.

  • decent trailer ruined by crap Merkan accent and drippy script.

  • "come on jack put it away you know you wont use it.....the gun he means"

  • The GREATEST British movie...but one thing I've never got. To judge by Caine's accent he must have left Newcastle when he was a baby. Jimmy Nail he ain't!

  • lol yeh, the accent is about the only thing they overlooked, but its such a top film you don't even notice.

  • haha good point never thought of that - You're so right about this being pretty much the best british film - every second is worth savouring

  • is it 'Get Carter' or 'The Long Good Friday'? we're constantly debating it....I think Get Carter just wins for better production and locations. LGF looks a bit too made-for-TV. Both have THE ultmate theme music though.

  • OK I'm going to show myself up here - I've never seen LGF. Will order immediately. Just ordered 'Villain' which looks good if only for Richard Burtons cockney accent. I cant see either supplanting my love of Carter though - I'm a bit funny about it

  • Never have I envied anyone so much (the guys with the ferraris in the garage don't come close)...imagine seeing LGF for the first time!!!!!!! you could only top that by listening to Led Zep for the first time. Lucky lucky you. Villain a bit disappointing. Performance is great though.

  • All I can say to you is your life will not be same after seeing Harry Shand walk through customs at the beginning and get in the back of the limo at the end....I'll say no more!!!!

  • I'll report back....

  • Why, because it proves the original 1971 version is far superior? Which of course it is.

  • I love Sly and his films but that remake is one of the worst films ever made.

  • The greatest British film of all time (probably the greatest film ever made full stop?) starring the greatest actor of all time. Either way I so want to be at that groovy discotheque dancing with those Mini skirted lovelies. 'The Italian Job' (1969) also rocks too!

  • MC Rocks

  • Films of the 70s rule o.k. There's no beating 'em, this from a boy born in 1964. We had a good backdrop to grow up in front of for sure.

  • @taffy1967 I have a signed copy so of course i love it, but A Clockwork Orange is unrivalled.

  • @taffy1967 The groovy disco is still standing - the outside much as it appears in Get Carter!

  • who directed?

  • You can't help but miss great stars like Michael Caine after watching this.

  • Why, he's not dead?

  • What I mean is he isn't getting the same roles as before. He merits more than holding a case of Glendefinch on screne.

  • Yes that's true, but the British film industry all but died out years ago. So all his great films have been remade now instead! Oh well.

  • For fans of old school Hitmen, watch Jours sans amis 2 ( ... Hawaï ) la bande annonce, the trailer of my short movie. You will enjoy for sure !!!!

  • The gun he means :-)

What a cheesy voice over. Sounds like the guy who played Frank Cannon.

  • It wasnt remade-it was RUINED by that meathead Stallone-who has made about 4 decent films in his entire career.

This is raw, bleak&almost nihilistic in its message!

  • One of the greatest drama/action/film noir movies ever made.

Which makes question......WHY THE HELL WAS THIS MOVIE EVER REMADE!? IT WAS PERFECT!

  • Dont make trailers like this anymore!! No need to watch the film now!!! ha ha!!

  • quality

  • NEWCASTLE!!!!

I was at that spot at 0:11 on the high level bridge just the other day!!

    Brilliant film.

  • and its a CRAP HOUSE

  • Like most films from the 60's and 70's the trailers were a bit poor, and a little hammy, don't let that put you off. Get Carter is a great gritty 70's movie, a true brit classic. 10/10 in my book.

  • classic ....great movie..

  • i,m 51 now and when i was about 14 or 15 i remember them making this classic movie in gateshead my home town, the high rise car park used in the movie is actually being demolished at the moment, the HIGH LEVEL BRIDGE ( called the IRON BRIDGE in the movie ) has just re opened after a 3 year re fit, the pub used in the film was called the VICTORIA AND COMET (just opposite the Central station ) is now an Irish Theme pub ...

  • There are mixed feelings about the demolition of the Gateshead multi-storey car park. No chance of that happening to the High Level Bridge! The dumping of colliery waste into the sea is now, fortunately, a thing of the past. A very violent film with few, if any, likeable characters but a classic none the less.

  • and its a CRAP HOUSE

  • i really wanner see this film, but is this a real trailer? same with the one for the ipcress file, they seem a bit like a piss take, still...would love to see it

  • Yes i think it is the real trailer. Good movie anyway

  • read tha book f~kin mint

  • OMG he killed that guy!

  • much better than the remake

  • i havent seen this film..but it would nice to se an orginal version..it would be nice to be a finlands carter

  • this such a rodox movie!! i enjoy it soo much!

  • great film,great ending

  • absolutely robin
