I lived in Seoul, Chuncheon and Daegu, South Korea, for three years. I never had any problems. I got a number of Thank Yous and a couple of salutes from people. A lot of Koreans who remember the war are still thankful for American involvement in saving them from the Communists.

Many of my friends have been to Korea for long job-related stints and ALL PRAISE KOREA WHEN THEY COME BACK..They praise the polite people,their work ethics the pretty girls, the greenery..Of the few things they jokingly complain is HAVING TO BE DOUBLY CAREFUL IN MENTIONING IN RESTAURANTS NOT TO SERVE THEM BEEF ITEMS!!...This is the first jerk I hear cribbing about bad-treatment in Korea..Well maybe sharing the same surname as Saddam Hussein did the trouble..LOL

I also know of one American who was attacked on two occasions in Seoul. Dont know the whole story, but she was a black woman from Florida who was attacked on two occasions at Itaewon Station in 2006.

I lived in Seoul, Chuncheon and Daegu, South Korea, for three years. I never had any problems. I got a number of Thank Yous and a couple of salutes from people. A lot of Koreans who remember the war are still thankful for American involvement in saving them from the Communists.
