  • my chill spots =) tanx for posting the vid kip up the good work =)

  • You did a fine job on the video.

  • I live in Toronto right now. I know exactly what I'm talking about. There are many many malls in Edmonton. The eaton centre is tiny in comparison. But I know how little Ontario people know about the west other then we produce basically the entire economy for the country. Hard workers making a stable country for a bunch of easterners who work just enough and think they've contributed somehow.

  • who gives a rats ass

  • Tiny little mall. Check out th west Edmonton mall in Edmonton when it's busy. it's like a river of humans.

  • Well, we have more than just the one, see. And other things to do besides haunt the mall. But I can understand how you'd imagine otherwise. :)

  • Oh, I'm just teasing you, bucko. :)

But by the way... oh, yeah, it's real hard work stickin' a giant straw in the ground and lettin' God's priceless diarrhea squirt up into buckets. Not like actually making things and building things and doing the work that paid for people to settle out there in the 1880s in the first place so they could eventually sneer at us as though they'd earned the oil instead of just being lucky enough to squat on it. Take a Uni, Raptor. >:)

  • Well squatting on the oil would be ill advised due to the enormous pressure it fly out under. One thing we can both agree on I would guess is that Canada is an awesome place to live regardless of your preference between slightly more liberal or painfully red neck. Yes? I prefer the outrageously redneck most days of the week. :P

  • thats my city love it

  • What's the music? Is that the Bonzos?

  • lol eaton center is crazy on weekends

  • BUT you guys still have a fucking cool city! :)

  • Nice little skating rink.... nothing like ours here in Ottawa... but I guess it works for you guys! :D

  • Toronto est une moquerie!!!

Ptuuui - I spit on you!!!

    Allez Montreal Toujours!!!

  • a mockery of WHAT?

Don't judge what you don't know. You've never lived here to experience this beauty. You are a mockery of your own people, so I guess they should thank you for that.

This is why everyone else thinks you guys are cultureless and rude to anyone else but yourselvse. I don't mean to offend, but you clearly just stepped out of the shadow as one of those.

  • Eh, Davi, I'm not from Montreal, but you said "Montrealers are cultureless to anyone but themselves". You do realize that Toronto is the capital of the world in blowing smoke up its own ass, completely obsessed with being acknowledged, right? I hear more mention of Montreal in the US as an exotic escape, than Toronto, which is more like a blander version of an american city, albeit more functional.

  • At least we can drive under our bridges here without them collapsing on us and fixing potholes don't break the city budget. Ok sure, poutine, and Jos louis are good to eat but it does not make you #1 ya stupid frenchmen!

    D:

  • toronto > montréal

  • Toronto is kind of bland, flat, and ugly. Montreal is much more grand and visually pleasing. It's a lot older afterall. But way to go Toronto, less potholes, as if that enters anyones mind when judging a city. Toronto suburbs are also some of the most depressing in North America. Scarbourough. Nuff said.

  • Montreal sucks. All you have is beggars and crackheads. Good job!

  • Incredibly ignorant statement as if Toronto doesn't have a horrid problem with homeless people. Judge a city on culture, history, architecture and setting, and Toronto is going to lose brutally to Montreal.

  • Oh really? Obviously you have never been to Montreal then. Keep living in that little bubble of yours. Sure Toronto has it's homeless... but Montreal is much worse. Try walking down the street in MTL... within 5 minutes you will be asked for money, cigarettes and even drugs. Nuff said. Go do some research before making yourself look like an idiot.

  • That was a very biased and uncovincing argument. IF you look at the stats, crime is worse in Toronto. And besides, beggars are probably worse in Montreal, Vancouver and NYC, and it doesn't stop those cities from being better than Toronto.

  • i suggest you look at the statistics Canada website then. Toronto is the 4th lowest on the list for crimes out of all the cities in Canada.

Get down off that pedestal of yours thinking your the king.

  • That last line is only ironic coming frmo a Torontonian. By the way, "T-dot" is the lamest slang possibly ever conjured.

  • Guys PLEASE! Nobody does it up like Moose Jaw, Sask! RE-prah-zent!

  • sage

  • greatest city on earth

  • right now anyway.

  • It is like seeing through time!

  • áwesomee!!!

  • great vid

  • great, good work! keep it up!!

  • Where is the Old City Hall...lol! Nice Video!

  • Actually, it's the building on the right behind the arches in the second shot, and I was standing in front of it to shoot the intersection. :)

  • I know...I was just kidding...I used to walk by this place myself everyday...when I was going for my job at the Eaton Center. Thanks...Nice Video Though!

  • I LOVE TORONTO GREAT VIDEO

  • Job well done!

  • Well done man.

  • Awesome.

  • toronto is awsome im from the eastcoast and i live in to now and i love it

  • i saw the camera set-up at the intersection of bay/queen and was wondering wat it was for. this answers that. quite a coincidence i came accross this video..in the promoted videos section.

  • I happen to like Nathan Phillips Square. As long as I can forget about the Skydome, CN Tower or the Air Canada Centre Toronto could seem all right to this Victoria-born Calgarian. Maybe I might see the Hockey Hall of Fame and look and look at Al McGuiness's jersey. I know they used this location for the series "This is Wonderland"

  • the skydome is no more... "rogers center"

  • go see the brass rail in T.O. Just dont get shot there

  • Where DO you recommend getting shot in Toronto? :)

  • at my house

  • Smart ass

  • Im from belleville, just up the road........when I get bored I go to t.o. for a good time

  • I don't see why everyone has to dump on Toronto. Personally I think it's a tame city but that can be a good thing. I mean I can walk the streets at 1am and know I'm not going to get shot for the $10 in my purse. There isn't a distinct style of architecture like Chicago but that doesn't mean you can't find beauty in a lot of the buildings.

  • Are the pro Toronto remarks coming from tax paying citizens or politicians? Great city being reduced to blah thanks to ridiculous governing and new taxes.

  • Toronto kicks ass, it's one of the most multicultural cities in the world.

Along with Sydney, New York and London.

I'm an immigrant and I've been around alot.

And I've found Toronto is one of the best places to live.

    Along with Amsterdam :)

  • im goin down around there with my budz tonight.

  • Pretty full of yourself for a city that has to write articles praising itself cause no one will recognize you as "world class." I'm from the east coast, by the way. That place with history and culture.

  • Can't be all that proud of where you live, Fuck, if your idea of pride is going around dumping on other people. But it's okay; we understand. We're quite adept at pitying people like you. :) Look! I'm pitying you right now! :)

  • I don't dump on other cities as a form of pride. I've been to Toronto and I've had a good time there before, but it's really overrated. Montreal is much more urban and architecturally beautiful. And no, I'm not from there, so don't call me a homer. A city with nothing unique to offer like Toronto really should knock off the "Holier than thou" attitude. You're a third rate Chicago. Congratulations!!

  • So you've had a good time here rather than enjoying the hogbutchery of the Midwest or the linguistic ambiguity of the joie de vie of the city we vaulted in the 1970s? Congratulations to you, my boy. What a quaint little fellow you must be to imagine you were slumming and then to inform us of it. Imagine the smiles with which you've provided us, my tiny Fuck. :)

  • jealous much?

  • Conceited much? Can't people just not like a place? I've been to Toronto. I've been to other cities, larger and smaller, and I prefer most others to Toronto. But riiiiight, it must be secret jealousy, as say the child-like minds of Toronto boosters.

  • i too sir have been to a lot of cities AND have many a LOT of people and so have a good feel of how people feel about certain things. and judging by your rants and the fact you watched a video about toronto just to dump on it, it is quite clear that you are envious of my city. yes people can "just not like a place", but you sir are not one of those people. so you can deny it all you want but your jelousy is very blatant. it's not being conceited it's being real.

  • Then why wouldn't I just move there or talk about how much I love it? If I like something, I don't pretend not to. Where's the logic in that? I didn't watch the video to dump on Toronto. I saw it on the main page, I saw how ugly the architecture was and how depressing it all looked, so I shared my opinion. You are allowed to do that, right? Opinions don't necessarily mean PRAISE. Toronto's really not all that bad, but I sincerely think, at least architecturally, it's pretty ugly. Fair?

  • LOL Uhm sorry, are YOU an expert on architecture? Because the experts disagree with you. Toronto is on top of the lists of amazing infrastructure and skylines and urban planning in the world. And depressing? Do you know the history of our buildings? We have a building that is coated in gold, an award winning series of structures, a building that has a marble exterior, one of the tallest building in the world, an Arena that has a retractable roof, the original Iron Building, I can go on my friend

  • @ashmantoronto lmfao, let go on, 2nd greatest skyline, 4th most livable city, one of the cleanest, 2nd greastest city on planet behind NYC, overtaking Paris and London, most multicultural city, beautiful. hotter girls than any where else besides Montreal and Van

  • Love my city! Toronto's the best.

  • I live 10 min away from Toronto lolz.

  • I'm from the States and I think Toronto's an awesome city.

  • it is :)

  • That's great to hear. =)

    I love Toronto too.

  • the shoppers look like they are skating on the floor malls haha :P

  • why have i JUST found out about the apple store in the eaton centre?!?!

  • because you don't go out much :P

  • lol i live in the suburbs so yea i dont get out much :p

  • i live in toronto i get out all the time.

  • lucky!! :p

  • go me...I live in torontoXD

  • I can almost see Ryerson!! Dammit i have an exam

  • lol, we alllll do, damn exams

  • Lol. =) I'm a Ryerson student too!

  • Maybe there are so many videos of Toronto because so many Torontonians know people in other countries and they want to keep in touch with them. For example, until recently, it was the city with the most members on Facebook.

    Currently:

"Almost three-quarters of Torontonians aged 15 or older have direct ties to immigration. About one-half (52%) are themselves immigrants while another 22% are 2nd generation immigrants."

That's a lot of people sending email, videos, etc. via the internet!

  • Haha nice :D

  • YAAAA TORONTO ROCKS!!! I live in toronto, AND CITY HALL IS A GREAT PLACETO SKATE! =D

  • CANADA IS THE BEST!

  • Yay CANADA! :D!

    VERY cool. :]

Nathans phillips Square is a great place to skate XD!

  • Cool, Nathan Phillips Square!

    I'm from 'Sauga, love Toronto.

  • Toronto is a chill place not fancy like Tokyo but still cool. I'd rather be in Tokyo though lol!!

  • I love my own city, don't get my wrong, but why so many featured videos of Toronto lately?

  • I was wondering that too. Maybe there's a film project for one of the schools? :o

  • you did this with stills? wow that's really cool man.

  • Thanks. :) But it's really not so remarkable when you reflect that EVERY movie is really just a series of still images displayed sequentially. The only difference is my shutter opened about twice a second instead of about 30 times a second.

  • Canada #1

  • The video is great!

Try make a similar video of Nathan-Phillips right now! There's a festival of fire, and the artist who designed all of it walks around the square every day (???) at 6 o'clock and lights all of it up. It must look magnificent with the speed like that in your video. I would love to see that! :)

  • canada has been destroyed by people like UNSOF....we are doomed

  • i love my toronto =)

  • Nice to hear such sentence:)

  • Cool!

  • i love toronto too, i miss it though .. don't live in the city right now

  • it mightv'e looked cooler at night..? nathanphillips looks so nice with all the lights on, and eatons looked so empty that day!

  • Very Toronto, Fearsome, I will remember you...Biff

  • by anychance did you film this on jan.3rd?

  • The 6th, I think.

  • To bad theres no Street Festival...it makes summer more fun.

  • that was probably my uncle working the zamboni. he works for the city and does ice maintenance there.

  • I work near here I used to go there sometimes for lunch. How did u get this video? Did u just stand there and video tape ppl or is it from like mall cameras?

  • I set up a Canon Rebel XT on a tripod with a cable release and just had it open the shutter as frequently as it could for four or five minutes in each case. When I got home I dumped the still images sequentially into movie-making software.

  • i live in toronto i live near finch and young toronto rules i was at the eaton center the other day

  • :) Cute video. I love Toronto so much.

  • yay to T.O! seeing the flow of people in a place i've actually been to and know is so interesting =)

  • lol, there is still TONS of homeless people..

  • There are even when unemployment was at a 30 year low. Some people would rather do crack than work an honest job.

  • you should have gotten footage of that fire thing going on at nathan philips square. that would have been amazing in time lapse.

  • cool.

  • i USED TO PLAY HOCKEY THERE

  • too bad it wasen't footage of today the palce was PACKED

  • What do they do with the homeless?

I saw the video, I don't know any other solution to live in this society with cities of 2 million and with 6.66 billion people, than this "cancer-matrix". Tell me which system is the best, the one we should adopt?

  • God blesss Torontooo

  • Yay, toronto :D

  • that was kinda cool :)

  • What is the easiest way to time lapse ????

  • Buy a Canon PowerShot G9 and put the movie setting on time lapse. :) Barring that, set up any camera you have (whose shutter can be opened using a remote release) on a tripod and shoot a frame every second or so (I just left mine open). It's a good idea to use a DSLR with a 8x neutral density filter so you can "drag the shutter" (take long exposures; 1/2 gives movement a nice blur and prevents "popping")...

  • (cont'd.) ...It's also a good idea to use a custom white balance so there's less flicker in the light level from frame to frame. Finally, you dump all your captures sequentially into movie-making software like Quicktime Pro, Premier, or the like, and export the thing as a movie. ...Well, it's not EASY, I guess, but that's how you do it.

  • Wow thanks for the run down ....Toronto rocks .....luv your vid .

  • im thinkin of buyin a canon g9 how would u say the normal video mode is?

  • The video modes are extremely clear and sharp. I used to have a PowerShot S80 that I used extensively and had no complaints about (other than that it didn't shoot RAW), but the G9's video seems noticeably better even than that. There's not much I don't like about the G9. I really recommend it.

  • great video (: I need to get my friends to go skating with me ;D

  • This is so pornographic! I'm serious... slow it down and you'll see what I mean. Just sick!

  • For a second there, I thought those people were skating through that mall.

  • haha no, that would be Edmonton then! :D

  • just moved to Vancouver from (downtown) Tarana. Now I don't feel so home sick.

People in BC think the East Coast is "too fast". Fuck; after watching this, they'll be grabbing their children and praying that "the east doesn't come west"

  • you should go down to spadina and augusta.. that would be a cool time lapse. So many nice places in toronto!

    nice video

  • YAT the apple store

  • haha its OK. x]

its really sad that no one ever makes any videos of Winnipeg. Is it that bad here? LOL

  • They wouldn't be quite as epic, but I'm sure we could manage something almost like that. Hey... we do have the longest skating rink in the world, that must be worth SOME kinda footage, hehehe.

  • lol, It must. We work long and hard for it. x]

or we just have really cold weather. But still and we have a sals on a bridge...
