@biglilantmo Not necessarily, it depends on the situation. Sometimes a great defense wears down your oponent and then you learn their mistakes and then you can take advantage of them. Whereas if you proceed just swinging wildly you have no idea what you are in for. You want speed and power and defense. Normally the technique that you would use to produce speed also produces power, if executed properly. Hope this helps.

I doesn't matter if you can't do 10 punches in 1 second. As long as you have that basic technique, all you have to do is to be able to take your opponent down. You can have all the fancy moves but no effect. That's my opinion anyways.

@ordosincorporated Ok, to see if it's true, go to a WC proponent who has been training daily for 20 years - which is about the same time William had been training by the time this video was filmed - and ask him to punch in the same way as William is in this video and then see whether or not his punches break your bones. There's a good chance of at least a fracture (face, neck, for example). :)

@Nephronial no.. he was talking about William Cheung Chuk Hing. it was Grandmaster William Cheung who introduced Bruce to yip Man. and although Great Grandmaster Yip Man was the MaSter of the school. he left Bruce's progress in wing chun up to william cheung and Wong Shun Leung, as they were his seniors and arguably yip man's two best fighters at the time.( or at least the two most famous for fighting at that time) all the best to you, and happy new year!! :))

How do you know? All Lee said in that quote was "Cheung", & it's a fact that Lee & Hawkins were training buddies. I know W. Cheung would like us all to believe Lee meant him, but there's just as much reason to believe Lee meant Hawkins. Look...W. Cheung tells soooo many blatantly false stories that at this point who can believe a word he says? The guy's a straight-up bullshitter.

What I want EVERYBODY to know is: what Cheung claims, why those claims are ridiculous, & that what he teaches is largely of his own devising & is not Wing Chun. It's Cheung who's behaving poorly, not me.
As for "not blasting each other publicly", perhaps you should tell that to Cheung. HE'S the one running around with the stories about how no one has the "real" WC except for him, how everyone sucks except for him, how he's the Wing Chun Chosen One, etc., etc.

This amount of punches is possible, but they are so fast that your arm gets engineered for speed and not for strenght. You'll have got tendons, but your overall strenght wont be that much This kind of punches have a nice psychological effect, but dont deliver a lot of kynetic energy, if want to call it like that. Somebody with a decent muscle mass can sustain this punches. This is good for precision strikes, such has neck, kidneys and other

I doesn't matter if you can't do 10 punches in 1 second. As long as you have that basic technique, all you have to do is to be able to take your opponent down. You can have all the fancy moves but no effect. That's my opinion anyways.

Mixed Martial Arts should have taught the folly of this silly stuff (how many punches can I effect per second = 0 in the grand scheme of things.) Could I personally take those hits (even air punches) HECK NO!!! but then again there are those that could and would finish this guy in a matter of moments (??)

used to hit 27 punches, one fist in 10 seconds, in my teens and early thirties. Never thought about using both fist. Now at 52, I'm down to 18 in 5 seconds, Any longer and my arm is useless for the day. Still knock flies out of the air, just can't seem to catch them in my hand anymore. :)
My son has been clocked at 25 lasting about 6 seconds. one fist. So yes, years of practice and natural speed is all very possible.
