it's called "Assembling" a bed, not "Building" one.

Building a bed is when you start with a pile of lumber, cut it to size and then put it together.

yeah, Ikea is good for cheapness but they have so much stuff that is destined for landfill very quickly, they typify a modern business who's main focus is a profit projection, having no regard for the resourses they exploit and waste they create, only a gestural consideration to keep the eco hounds at bay, when are we gonna learn that profiteering is our addiction and that it will be the end of us.Go to your local dump and note the stuff which is Ikea, is it worth it?really?

i got a long wall dresser/night table from ikea. i built it in like an hour, a bit more complicated that a bed. it was so crappy it was buckling and leaning holding up my tv, computer, ps3, and cable box. the entire back was a flimsy dust cover. i screwed in a bunch of medium gage angleiron, and reinforced on one of the shelf's sliding mechanism by putting in additional screws through the metal where the normal screw is. now its rock hard, holds everything and me at same time,and new foot rest.

i put the angleiron on the inside so it looks like just a regular ikea dresser and rigged it similar to a bridge. my dresser are still good and parts were sanded and varnished over so clothes dont get snagged on the stuff i added. sometimes it pays to get the cheap crappy model, and using a little elbow grease, make it worth more than you bought it for very little if you know what your doing.

I had a similar bed from IKEA the structure was good but the mattress forms "dents" in a few months, and sometimes the wood comes off the rails underneath.

I got the same bed in 2000 at Ikea for about $250. I still have the same bed after 3 moves and my little one is using it now. It is a nice bed. The 4 steel rods that you put at the 4 corners of the bed is for alignment. To make sure the bed doesn't move from one side to the other. The screws for my 4 rods were bad. So I have to get rid of all those rods. Since my kid is little, it is okay for now to use the bed without them.

This bed definitely needs two people to assemble. I have the same bed and it usually takes me and my hubby 30 minutes or less to put it together. I believe they don't sell this bed anymore at Ikea.
