  • Relax people. Enjoy the amazing song

  • JESUS CHRIST, what a great song. :)

  • "But because you are neither hot nor cold I will spew you out of my mouth" (into everlasting torment in hell) is one of the convenient holy scriptures I can call up, just imagining what God's Christian Soldiers are saying as they march right over their fallen brother.....

  • @audiotrax2000 Wait... is "into everlasting torment in hell" in the Bible or did you just ad-lib that?

  • there're no atheists in foxholes...

  • @Samutsu7 Again, please refer to the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers.

  • "Unbelief is a force that conquers the heart of a man. The true God gives us spiritual arms but the devil does as well. The armour of the devil consists of a hard heart, a spirit that doesn't want to pray, the shield Unbelief , etcetera. Maybe David Bazan is infected with Unbelief of others, maybe even his own family. The heart becomes hard of sinning as well. Why is there still a force in Bazan that wants to believe, why doesn't he want a hard heart? God hasn't left him , he has left God."

  • @bearsafetyus Shut up.

Faith is the process of non-thinking. A denial of observation so that belief can be preserved. I would so much rather be Non believing because of good reasonable deduction, than non thinking because a bronze age myth told me so.

  • hah ok. Your "definition" of faith doesnt make sense. A denial of observation? U keep on good reasonable deductable thinking. If you are so jaded to think that the only reason people have faith is because a "bronze age myth," then you are shallow as your words.

  • gave me chills..

  • the devoted were wearing bracelets to remind them why they came some concrete motivation when the abstract could not do the same but if all that's left is duty, i'm falling on my sword at least then, i would not serve an unseen distant lord could someone please tell me the story of sinners ransomed from the fall i still have never seen you, and somedays i don't love you at all if this only a test i hope that i'm passing, cuz i'm losing steam but i still want to trust you
  • Justin McRoberts cut out the most important lyrics that bring full understanding to this song because the average Christian music lover wants to just be force fed happiness and not have to think.

When David Bazan sings " Some days I don't love you at all". He isn't talking about hating God, he is talking about sinning and being depressed. He then culminates this with quoting Jesus words to calm the sea (and fear of the disciples): Peace, Be Still.

McRoberts took a beautiful song & destroyed it

  • @cavscout1983 ....McRoberts took a beautiful song and destroyed it because he either 1) didn't understand what David Bazan was saying OR 2) knew his Christian audience was too pedantic and ignorant to look past the feel goodness they were used to. If they were to do that, they might have to *gasp* actually follow the example of Jesus and implement such modernly scandalous chapters such as Matthew 25 ( Think of Brave Saint Saturn's "Under Bridges") and actually help people in the name of Jesus.

  • Changed my life. Really.

  • his voice is simply wonderful.

  • I remember listening to this for one of the first times. I think it's one of the best songs on this album. But I like the original cover better.

  • Can you upload "The Poison"

  • I love his live version of this song. He ends it a little differently. The best recording I've heard is from "Live in Omaha"

  • McRoberts is a really nice guy, but I like Bazan's better still. I guess it's the different perspective they have on this song.

  • I agree, McRoberts' is better, but no one on youtube seems to have it

  • Justin McRoberts does an amazing cover of this song. Much better than the original in my honest opinion.

  • mcroberts version is cleaned up with focus put into his vocal performance. it has little acoustic flourishes and piano overlays. basically window dressing- its just prettier. which is really not the point of a song that is at it's core, concerned with doubt and the yearning for affirmation.

  • i have been looking EVERYWHERE for this song. I would listen to this song every single night before I went to bed.

  • Same. This was my favorite song of all time during highschool.

  • Same as the both of you.

  • Same, I really really enjoy the lyrics and message of the song. I think David really pours open a lot of his personal experience with religion into this and it makes it very real to the listener.

  • i really relate to the lyrics of this song. Thanks for posting it.

  • You're welcome =3

  • awesome song man... this one's a little harder to find for some reason than other PTL songs... thanks for posting... good taste in music
