saw thesearchers first time 30 years ago with pender allen mcnally and adamson they were outstanding absolutely brilliant saw them again 2 years ago wit this line up again they were very good but saw them last week with a new drummer and someting is wrong just not the same still a fan though but now of the recorded music not live anymore
john mcnally, is the founding member of the searchers. so those leaving messeges here that penders group is better ,ect...and so on...need to thank john mcnally, for giving them the classic songs they love hearing the searchers sing. no matter which group is singing it.
There is one original Searcher - we see them every couple of years at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada and they are excellent - they have weathered the years well.
These are NOT the original Searchers;Jackson,Curtis,Pender along with McNally were, these are not a patch on the harmonies, stage presence and generral ambience, nit a patch.
5ourgang, Dont be draged in by the sixtys critics for they have never lived, As long as you love the Searchers you will do for me, Thanks for the post, Tezza the Manch.................
For all you critics out there who say they're living in the past I wanna say "thank God".They're keeping alive the best rock sound to ever come out of England. I knew and appreciated them 35 years ago but only recently [ thanks to you tube] discovered the brilliance of the latest and best version of the Searchers. Please come to America soon. You're on my bucket list.
Just done a rough count on my fingers and if they are still playing nowadays then the Searchers name has been going on for over 50 years.Well done lads and may I sincerely wish you many many more healthy years still to come...
They don't need to worry about the future. Their music is so nostalgic and wonderful to those of us who remember them so well. I feel so good when I hear their music! Truly a great Britband. I hope they keep this up forever.
I really hate Rickenbackers , the truss rod was far to weak, and meant they went continually out of tune, best one I had was les paul double cut-away, and vox phantom 5(V), 73, Howard
February 1964 - Sheffield University - Students Uinion Saturday Dance - The Searchers ! Needles and Pins had just hit the top of the charts - they played it 4 times - no one danced - just listened and cheered. Bands used to tour in those days,
Just seen The Voice of the Searchers - the incomparable Mike Pender onstage in Solid Silver Sixties Tour 2010 ~ nothing can compare with him and that jangling 12-string guitar sound!! This lot are great - but he was THE BEST.
Same here Rock 60s chick, I saw Mike Pender in the 25th Anniversary SSS tour and wasn't he just so full of energy and sang those Searchers songs like they should be sung!!! As you say, just THE BEST SEARCHERS VOICE EVER (with Tony Jackson of course)!!!

Nothing wrong with Penders, but these guys rock The Rickenbacher 12 captures it. Find a Penders vid (this song), as good.
