Got curious (worried!) at the title. Thank GOODNESS this wasn't a cover of the World's-worst-lyrics-of-all-time song by Andrew Gold. I might have had to sell my EJ collection :-)
You get my thumbs up for liking this song, actually having a 45, and actually still having a tunrtable to play it on. Wonder how all my LPs are doing in storage? Tempting to take them out and hook up my old stereo, just for the experience.
Obvious ode to LSD and the inspirational friendship with Lennon. I believe the lonely boy is Reggie himself. A weird semi-masterpiece who should be a blast in concerts. No one's ever as witty as Elton. This is a typical "catsong" of his.

Holy fuck does this suck....I love Elton but compare this fucking garbage to Take Me To The Pilot and anything on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road...this guy must have give Elton a good blowjob to record this horseshit...
What's wrong with Ball And Chain and I'm Your Robot? hey it was the early 1980's There great tracks. But this song could have been on the Jump Up Lp. I think Jump Up should have been a Double Lp but Records companies hate Double Lp's.
Hey this is cool and funky! Should have been on Honky Chateau!! I don't think I ever heard it-- stopped listening to Elton after his work went downhill after Yellow Brick Road, but it seems there ARE still gems that came afterward.
"I Am Your Robot" might not be a classic but at least it was something different. Now we get way too many ballads but at least in the 80s he was still doing a variety of different types of songs. Robot is a fun song--no worse than Crocodile Rock as far as I'm concerned.
It's been a definite treat stumbling across your page. Hearing all these Elton singles/demos/lives I've never heard before is wonderful. Thanks for sharing!
this makes me feel like dancing. if only i had legs.

That's a hell of a pair of glasses Elton is wearing. LMAO!
Elton will always be one of my top favorite artists.

RIP Andrew Gold. Hey Elton, wherever you are, cover Andrew's song.

I think this song was published on 1984. I believe it was the b-side of Passengers. Am I wrong?

this is far better than ball and chain or robot, should've been on jump up.

'Ball And Chain' is in my top five Elton songs of all time. 'Robot', however....that could be one of his worst. Total '80s synth cheese.

But, you gotta admit. Robot is a classic example of a rock star gone wrong!
