classic albums series: pink floyd, the doors, nirvana, john lennon, iron maiden ecc....and jay-z????? jay-z isn't even a speck of dirt compared to all the others. this is so ridiculous.
@KEPHALLE WHY NOT? DO YOU KNOW HOW LYRICALLY COMPLEX SOME OF THE SONGS ON RD ARE? THE ALBUM SPOKE TO A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM A NEGLECTED CRACK GENERATION.
@Sagefrakrobatik ye but canibus has nothing but lyrics, hes a rapping ass rapper not saying shit. the lyrics are only one out of many factors that make this album amazing.
@AlizeCiz Not saying shit? Lol classic. Have you heard a song called "no Return" the third verse is a story about a firefighter who goes to save a woman from a burning building. Presumably from 9-11. At any rate the verse is one of the best verses I've heard from any rapper. Never heard Jay'z pull of anything like that before. All Jay'z raps about is how much money he has.
Albums like Reasonable Doubt are the kind of albums that make me respect hiphop (as someone who listens more to things like new wave, alternative rock, 60s music) so much. It's fantastic: there's Jay-Z's unorthodox flow, honest and detailed lyrics, and the beats are something else. Beats like Can I Live, Dead Presidents, Regrets, The Hustle, BK's Finest, Politics...
And it makes me wonder, why aren't these kind of records not included in the top album lists? Same goes for funk, it's a shame.
