This is one of those songs that just kind of says it all for me, at times. James McMurtry writes in a way quite a lot like his father, the Author. Each song is a story that rings so true & stays in my mind. Listening to his albums, i can close my eyes and see visions of places, situations, states of mind he describes so very well that each song is a form of transportation for my thoughts & feelings.
I've loved this guy since he came out with "Where's Johnny?" back in the '90s. Glad to see he's not so obscure anymore! His lyrics are poignant and his guitar playing is stellar.
Wow, I LOVE this James McMurtry. I only started listening to him this past week, because he came up under "related videos" when I was listening to Billy Joe Shaver. To be perfectly honest if I'd known he was Larry McMurtery's son I probably would have used that as a reason not to give him a listen, I liked Lonesome Dove but I really couldn't get the same enjoyment out of his other works.
This guy has amazing talent! I am a fan! "We Can't Make it Here Anymore" just stunned me, and gave me hope.
I can't believe that this song has drawn no comments yet! James is a natural storyteller, with a flair for making the ordinary sound transcendent. He is a genuine troubador...
