slow down and use a reverb with longer time, or no reverb at all, and it will sound amazing! :) the reverb as it is now takes away the focus from you playing.
people like most of the haters commenting on this video are why so much music goes unheard these days. so what if it's faster? I'm sure she knows what tempo McKee plays this at, and just because she doesn't copy it doesn't make it worse, and doesn't deserve to be criticised for it. I've been playing guitar for years and keyboard warriors are why I would never even think of posting music videos online - even with good reviews. If I could play like this I'd sure play songs the way I wanted
Guys complaining about too high tempo, you jelly 'cause of the fact that you can't play even a fraction of the song in a tenth of the real tempo? Great work imo
please record this again and try to make music. I know that this very hard to play. but you spend a lot of time to get this technicaly. now just put into a little of your soul to make a really good cover of this
So good! I know it's stupid to try and rationalise with haters... But if you want to hear the song at the original tempo... Watch the original video. A cover is a cover and can be changed accordingly.
dude why the top comments about hate? you guys sexest or something? id like to see u nerds play this shit and on top of that play it clean as her. i dont wanna hear about it being so bad, u should apreciate her work more than hate it bc it doesnt sound good enough for you.
@randyrhoads19902 You're the only one who soudns sexist to me. I think you should hate or appreciate something because it sounds good enough to you or it doesnt. You give no reason why people should appreciate rather than hate, leading me to believe that your own motivation is sexist in the sense that you'll like anything played by a girl. If this had been a dude would you have written a comment like the one you wrote?
Now about the clip: I think it's pretty good but too fast.
@Yony42 no dude, i think u misunderstood me. i have watched the video and thought "hey, she did a pretty good cover and yeah it was kinda fast but still dead on accurate". im not taking up for bc shes a woman i just didnt see anything wrong with the video and all these guys were posting comments about how she is awful. man just read the other comments and i dont know about you but this song is very difficult to play and even at that it takes a good listener and a lot of patience to learn
@randyrhoads19902 I haven't read the comments you were talking about, so maybe you were totally right, although I think you could have expressed it better, as you just did to me. Cheers.
@Yony42 also i appreciate her for taking the time to learn this and have enough confidence to post her performance of n youtube. i mean yeah she aint no andy mckee but she should be appreciated more instead of hated.
@randyrhoads19902 dude reread his comment its nothing about hate its constructive critisicm recieveing that kind of critique is the only way one can improve. now she definetly knows what she is doing she just needs to relax a little and not be in such a hurry. of course if the intention is in fact to speed it up then its just fine
@randyrhoads19902 Dude you don't have to be Andy McKee to hear that she is falling in and out of the beat, especially in the intro. She's really getting there but honestly she should have spent a month or two more practicing this before going in and recording it. It's definitely not a clean cover as you are suggesting.
And how is giving honest critique being sexist? I'd rather say that giving her credit for being a woman would be sexist.
Technique getting close. You need to add passion, feel and dynamics. Slow down your tempo, percussive taps need to be 20% softer, lose reverb/delay...record this dry... it's too pretty a number to juice up w/effects. The slap-back delay is inappropriate for this number. You can vary the percussive tone by tapping the body in different places as Andy Mckee does...use the taps melodically too. Hang in there you almost have it...now it's the tweaks that will make you great at it. Good luck.
very nice try, but why 500000 ppl in youtube post a video playing themselves a song of andy mckee, u want to make impression, write a song for yourself, YOUR song, andy made him self famous for ''composing'' a tremendous melody in a way that nobody did in the guitar, now everybody play it again and again and again and again..
I saw you perform this live @ the Bing Crosby theater when you opened for your brother & Jon Schmidt. Beautiful song, and so impressive. I've never seen the guitar played like this before.
hmm, you know how to play the notes, but you dont play it with your heart. It sounds like you are chased by something.^^ It is way too fast :) But hey, check out my cover maybe you will find something I should do better. I apprechiate every constructive criticism :)
Congratulations, interprets very well, now you just need to feel the song not look very mechanical, I guess that's the reason that why you play fast and loose its charm and you need a better recording but you play great, confratulations.
This song is like karate. It takes discipline to master it. She's got everything but patience on this. But at least she keeps the same tempo for the most part.
shes of tempo cuz shes out her element.
