This guitar is by far the best ELECTRIC guitar I own. It sounds great and is great quality. It's very realistic, which is great, except for the fact that it uses the classic tuners, which makes putting new strings on a bit of a challenge, but you get the hang of it. Overall, this is one fine ...

I have a mz6210691 thats seven numbers maybe because the bottom pickup looks like a humbucker (stock) I have only seen one other like it that was a live show with a guitar player with willie nelson.this guitar seems to have a uniqe sound compared to a stratocaster that has that slanted PU I bought it because I had never seen a strat with a humbucker on it has anybody else seen one or have one ? love the stratocaster never the less

Does anyone know if there is any difference in quality between the MN-90's versions and the MZ-00's, or MX-2010? I heard that post 2006 they were given modifications. Does that mean to suggest that pre-2006 models are inferior? I'm planning on buying a MIM within the next two weeks and I am unsure as to whether I should go for a newer model? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 1992 Mex Strat! I have also had it from around late 92/93!! Still looks like i bought it yesterday and it has been on stage a LOT. I am now thinking of Lindy Fralin Blues PUPs for it!!
David, I have a line on a sweet '98 MexiStrat that I am going to check out in person soon. Wanted to say this vid was a huge help (serial number dating format) in helping me decide to pursue it. The info about the late 90's Mexi Strats was very helpful. It's a '98 bust w/ maple neck. Has that 'Derek and the Dominoes' vibe, youbetcha. Should compliment my SG nicely.
Okay just bought a Mexican strat. And the pickups are good but the silver dots inside the pickups are uneven, like some will be high and some are low. Does that mean anything?
actually,to me 21 fret is not enough.BUT something on my guitar (which is mexican strat) that make me fallin love with fender is it sound, specialy on the neck pickup...so i spend my time around 2 hours everyday to "date" with my guitar..:D
@rockongoodpeople yeh and looks like the pickup issue rolls on for another decade, already swapped my bridge pickup for a Seymour Duncan JB Jr Humbucker. Also i would add that the Mexican bridge is very uncomfortable and the screws eat in to my hand with palm muting, will need replaced for my playing style. Had a bone nut fitted and fret ends filed and polished, minor details tho concidering a USA strat in the UK is mega bucks!
@rockongoodpeople my strat is not on the Fender product dating list. Its a new enough mexican strat. Im lucky and got it free from a friend that recived it direct from Fender as a promo guitar and thats all I know about it. Serial number is on back of headstock and is MX10060801 would it be as simple as MX = 2010 and the Fender site not updated yet?
I love that you actually know what you're talking about and you put it in a clear and easy to follow way. Most people that try to describe guitar things on youtube are bad, but I like yours
Hello and thank for your kind words - most appreciated. So glad that you like our guitar lessons and that we can help you with your playing. Take care!
cool never knew this, got my mexican deluxe player's strat from a pawn shop when i was a teenager and never knew how old it was...MN7, 1997-1998, neat.
hi am new to guitar and I have a broken string lol, but the thing is that now I want to change all the strings and I've browse the web and I've found some various kind of strings and the problem is that what kind of string should I consider when I play rock, metal and blues stuffs thanx. NOTE: I have a fender stratocaster mexican made 2004-2005 and am limiting me to fender strings is it ok or is there some better brand out there to put on my fender guitar??
@metaliguy Ernie ball makes top quality strings for average prices. Rock, metal and blues usually require thicker than average strings, so I would recommend using Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings.
Cuando veo un video de estos lo que yo espero es ver luego luego el sonido de la guitarra y no tanta palabreria . When I watch a video of guitars, I hope to listen the sound of guitar and not talk talk talk talk talk talk talk,
I have a 2006 Mexican Deluxe Players Strat. The Noiseless pickups are actually "stacked" so I guarentee this model has hotter pickups than the 90's models. The DPS is probably as good as an American strat as well.
couldn't agree more. I have a 98 MIM strat. Can be played for months without going out of tune. It's pickups are really nice. Great guitar for the money.
@zombieX111222333 Nice! Sounds interesting! lol. There's quite a handy database which lists a lot of Strat serial numbers by search. Whether or not it's a complete list as possible, I'm not sure but it has listings for USA, Mexican and Japanese made guitars. Quite a handy reference. Google "Fender Serial Numbers" or something similar and it should come up?
So my advice for people who want to buy a good Strat but don't really have the money, or for those who don't want to spent that much money on a USA made Strat: ''Look for a 90's Strat. They are great guitars for the money!'' But remember always TRY before you BUY!
This guy is right, i've had a USA Strat made in 2006 and it didn't sound and played that well compared to my Mexican Strat that is made in 1992. I brought my Mexican from some guy who had it upstairs at his attic, just sitting there and collecting dust. I've installed a DiMarzio XN2 humbucker in the bridge and it's a great guitar. I use it mainly for Punk/Metal/Grunge etc. But thanks to the stock single coils it still sounds great for clean things aswell.
@Guitarstring187 have you heard its rage (sound) OH MY GOD DUDE, just omg....i've got a epiphone les paul myself, it sounds awesome, humbucks and shit
Hey I'm looking at a used 1996 tex mex strat and I've tried looking stuff up about it and apparently it came in a rosewood fretboard before they changed it to maple but the one I'm looking at has a maple board. Is there anyway to tell if something was changed without the seller saying?
nice video.! very useful..! well i am planning to buy this, always wanted a strat badly. So i just wanted to know weather the mexican strats are very good? are they 75% atleast like a american strat?
ever play a fender mustang? strat or mustang? i know it depends on the type of music the band plays but as for true satisfaction im leaning toward white mexican strat over a 69 mustang cuz of the price
I have a 3 mexicans and 2 american strats. on the mexi i changed the pickups to duncan hotrails and didn't need to change the tunners it stays in tune as well as the usa model. I gotta say to me the mexicans play better then the usa.. how sad is that? the mexican weighs more and the whole feel of the guitar is just better in my opinion . i use the mexicans it more then the USA and there half the price.
Mine is a Mex with # MZ1XXXX that I bought in 2000. It must have the Hot pick-ups you talked about, 'cause it sounds really good. Stuck it under a U.V. light for a week to give it an "aged look" , even the dots on the fret board are tanned, gives it an "vintage look". Replaced the tuners with "locking" type.
MIM Strat a good beginner guitar? I don't think so, it plays just as well as an American, mine is modded and it's the bee's knees! A beginner guitar would be a Les Paul, because they're so easy to play, a beginner would have an easier time with the action on a les paul.
Its not as if he was insulting it dood. He said he liked it.. and it was easy to play so he suggested it for begginging. Dosnt make it a "begginer guitar"
the strat you have asked about is not a fake it a 2002 mexican strat. with a strat you cant really tell if its good or bad they are hit or miss. if the strat you end up with is not has good has you would have hopped you can all ways do things to improve it.
no the MIM strat became fantastic all the way around in 2006. 3 piece alder body instead of 6 to 7piece befor 2006. 2006 to present the necks and bodys are simply fantastic A+ and match to most MIA strats.
if you have a 2006 to present MIM strat you have a very well crafted guitar!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
would you rather have a chinese person thats being ordered to have this guitar ready, a mexican person dropping their sweat from heat, humidity, and exhaustion into the pickup cavities while putting on the neck, or an american person creating a finely tuned instrument knowing that he will put a smile on your face with his work? YOU TELL ME!
I have the same thing, except mine has a humbucker pickup at the bridge. The only other time ive seen a mex. strat. like mine is when they have a whammy bar, and mine doesnt. But there is a whole on the bridge (his has it to, its near the high e string). Id that where whammy bars go?
mmmh i'm sure about the mexican origin of this strat...because all the parts are in the right place...but there is this strange serial that appears to be original...you can find it under the clear coat under the neck and inside the body in the control cavity!!..
Hi - have not seen an MO prefix on a mexican made strat - may not have been made in mexico - check the fender website for more info and leads on that one - best of luck
I have a 2008 fender strat mexican yellow,By the way, what's the difference between mexican and american? I think mexican is great

Dosnt make it a "begginer guitar"

im going to buy a mexican fender strat and the serial number is MZ21512082
is this a good one or fake? I can't find anything on websites about it.
lovekes 2 years ago
the strat you have asked about is not a fake it a 2002 mexican strat. with a strat you cant really tell if its good or bad they are hit or miss. if the strat you end up with is not has good has you would have hopped you can all ways do things to improve it.

MrFENDERstratLOVER 2 years ago
dont buy it on line, there really hit of miss.
go and play it first . you can have the same modle guitar, the same colour but one could be good and one could be rubish.

no the MIM strat became fantastic all the way around in 2006. 3 piece alder body instead of 6 to 7piece befor 2006. 2006 to present the necks and bodys are simply fantastic A+ and match to most MIA strats.
if you have a 2006 to present MIM strat you have a very well crafted guitar!

and lets not forget that the fender mexican factory is also state of the art just like the corona factory.

for me,, nothing... just choose what feels good with your hands and what sounds good with your ears,,

This comment has received too many negative votes show
would you rather have a chinese person thats being ordered to have this guitar ready, a mexican person dropping their sweat from heat, humidity, and exhaustion into the pickup cavities while putting on the neck, or an american person creating a finely tuned instrument knowing that he will put a smile on your face with his work? YOU TELL ME!

I have the same thing, except mine has a humbucker pickup at the bridge. The only other time ive seen a mex. strat. like mine is when they have a whammy bar, and mine doesnt. But there is a whole on the bridge (his has it to, its near the high e string). Id that where whammy bars go?

mmmh i'm sure about the mexican origin of this strat...because all the parts are in the right place...but there is this strange serial that appears to be original...you can find it under the clear coat under the neck and inside the body in the control cavity!!..

Hi!
i couldn't be able to date my mexican strat...
the serial is : MO1207910...could anyone help me?
purplehazebalox 2 years ago 2
Hi - have not seen an MO prefix on a mexican made strat - may not have been made in mexico - check the fender website for more info and leads on that one - best of luck
rock on!
