  • Great video- I love the unadulterated sound, too! Thanks!

  • There's just a strong ambience, a mood/feeling/state of mind that the DHC-2 has. Call it a spirit maybe? ...thinkin' if home is where the heart is, and my heart is with DeHavilland Beavers, I gotta get my butt out of Toronto and start my journey home!

  • I like the contented Siamese Cat. They are such good companions. My last one was more dog, than cat. The Beaver is such a good honest airpalne that they should be continued to be built new. Were I an industrialist, I'd open a plant to do so. It's a nice dream, anyways.

  • @ClutchPedalReturnSpr

Sorry to say, but it looks like someone already beat you to it. Well, sorta.

    Google VikingAir

  • Can you give us a ball park on what yearly maintenance is worth on a beaver?

  • Yes, still old style wobble pump.

  • does your beaver start with the old style wobble pump or have you upgraded to the eletric pump like in a cessna 185

  • HAHAHAHAHA lol CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the cats all like...."man I put up with a lot of BS, I dont really like this, tell me when we get there"

  • Great video. Kenmore Air in WA state restores DHC-2s (Beavers). Getting a DHC-2 in great condition (ie. no work really needed) you will drop AT LEAST $300,000, if not more. That's just the initial price too; maintenance will kill you if you don't have the funds for it. Those P&W radials are works of engine perfection, but very expensive to maintain. If you have to ask, you can't afford it. :)

  • @bgiesbrecht101 thats why i became an aircraft mechanic so i could do all the work myself lmao

  • My dream aircraft !!!

Where can you find a beaver for restore ?

    Is the rebuild expensive ?

    Thanks for posting

  • @charlieechovictor My dream plane too!

They are expensive to rebuild- but worth every dollar (Euro?)

  • @sdmcginn effectively (euro)

  • The cat appears to be nonplussed

  • What a great video! The cat was a great surprise! Thanks.

  • how much experience or flight time would a new pilot need before buying and operating a beaver, would it be possible to train in one? great post.thanks

  • You can buy at any time with or without any hours. As with any single engine, non-high performance aircraft, you could legally learn to fly in it and do your float rating at the same time, although it's not recommended. I bought mine when I had less than 450 pilot hours, and my rating took 2.5 hours. I owned a c-185 float plane before I traded up and learned on a cessna 172.

  • those beavers have a great instrument panel.

  • Thats awesome with the cat!!! Ours would have the insides of that plane shreaded...lol

  • Cat is just chillin. ^_^ Those planes are awesome. You're very lucky.

  • beautiful interior in the back!

  • I have since changed it when I painted the plane. It's now white and blue with new seat covers. If there is a way to attach a picture I will.

  • soudns very nice!

  • I cant beleive you had a cat in there , my cat would of sliced me into peices to get out of there COOOL !!!

  • hey, just curious, what is the landing/approach speed for the dh2?

  • Depending if there is a gusty wind or not, my normal approach is 65-70 kts and flare above the water at 60 kts and let it settle in from there.

  • haha i cant believe there is a cat in there!!

  • He flies with me almost everywhere I go. Most of the tme he sits on the bench seat and looks out the window, or sleeps under the seats.

  • thats so cool. but is it not too loud for him? or does he just not seem to care.

  • Anyway, great stuff, thanx for sharing, maybe you will take video of whole flight -from take off to landing with instruments visible and readable?

    Will be great!

  • I will try and do that for you - short circuit.

  • 100 kts at 28 mp 1800 rpm seems not bad :-) Is this a floatplane? what was gross weight?

    cheers

  • Yes this is a float plane with huge Norseman floats on them - see other videos I have. Gross weight for this trip was about 4800 lbs (Gross is 5090)

  • I`m not sure- is it 100 kts or mph???

  • 100 kts is the air speed reading. Converts to 115 mph or 184 km/hr

  • yes yes

  • Thanks for the video. I had noticed the same thing as you, no good videos of the cockpit of a Beaver.

"Now that I own one"- wow! I hope some day I have a few extra hundred thousand dollars to drop on a restored Beaver!
