Michael was a nice size here, he looks hella tall, not too thin and filled out, this was a good time physically for him, before he got so skinny around the time "Thriller" came out. Oh, Michael was adorable then too, don't get me wrong, but he was too skinny, here he is just right.
Hello to all. Thank you Barflashback for this posting in spite of it's visual issues. Now I know for some it may be easy to find flaws about any of the members of this family. But the truth is in spite of their flaws, they will stand forth throughout the coming years as arguably, the best litmus test of accomplishment for the growing number of multimedia recording artists and performers who may strive for the Jacksons kind of success.
@dgwansel Dexter Wansel, I want to thank you for your work with the Jacksons at Philadelphia International. You all were good to the Jacksons & were like true family. I saw the clip of the Jacksons & you in the studio on YouTube. On this particular song, Keep On Dancin', I always liked how the song had the laidback tempo in the beginning then doubled up the tempo in the middle to the end. From chill to poppin' hot! Excellent work on this, Dexter. :-)
Have Mercy! When Michael steps up and starts singing, it's like the world lights up and he out does Marlon with just a few choruses! I'd LOVE to hear Michael sing the whole song alone! OH LAWD!!!
Marlon has a better voice than Jermaine on this song, but his spastic dancing is annoying as hell! He over dramatizes every single move! Like to listen, but hate to watch him attempt to dance.
Looking back it was so obvious the rest of the Jacksons belong in the background. The lack of charisma, showman ship, and overall talent was so apparent. I've also noticed in watching old videos the crowd would completely go wild at everything Michael did, but was much more subdued at any action of the other brothers. It was clear from the start the J5 did NOT make Michael Jackson..Michael Jackson made the J5! Without him they would have remained Gary, Indiana's finest and no more!
@cindys413 The other Jacksons only look the way they do to you is because Michael is just that talented. His talent overshadowed his brothers' talent. It's sort of like Dragon Ball Z with Vegeta in the shadow of Goku. Vegeta's a bad boy but Goku's simply gifted. Mike was the star of the Jackson 5/Jacksons but he did not do it all alone. All of the Jacksons got skills. No doubt that Michael forced Berry Gordy go back on his "no more child performers" stance though.
@johnlucas1 The other Jacksons do have talent to a point, but the main difference here is if they were presented to Berry Gordy WITHOUT Michael it would have been a certain NO GO with Berry, but if Michael was presented to Berry alone he would have still made it! That was the point I was trying to make because the Jacksons act like they made it as a group due to overall talent and that is simply not the case. It was Michael who made the J5, not the J5 making Michael Jackson. Just sayin...
@wegotforever I'm more than willing to bet that this was the triumph tour. A lot of MJ's moves during the Destiny tour were not as polished as they are here, which is about 1981; a year before MJ dropped Thriller. Even his voice is more aggressive like his sound on the Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous albums.
@Darslow Um, this is the second leg of the Destiny Tour, after MJ released OTW. If it was the Triumph tour, wouldn't they have sang at least ONE of the songs off of the Triumph album? I wouldn't make that bet if I were you...
@bronxbabi100 Hmmm! That's something to think about. I was primarily thinking of the 1st leg where they still had their afros. I know during the Triumph tour they had their Jheri Curls and knee pads. There was also more elaborate stage lighting. I guess I should bet huh! ha ha ha. Well, thanks for pointing that out.
@Darslow yes i think u r right, not only MJ moves but the quemistry among them, theres a connection, I can´t feel such connection when I see videos from the Triumph tour.
The Jacksons were one talented family. Randy was and still is a multi-instrumentalist, Marlon and Jackie were excellent dancers, Tito is a hell of guitar player, and Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer of all time. There will never be a family like this again. Wow! I'm so blessed to have witnessed the greatness of the Jacksons and Michael Jackson.
aaayeee man Randy was really feelin it! lol he got them hip thruts down. Anyone who ever said randy aint as talented as the rest of them..... well theres your proof that he is
@Awesomesupermjfan Never liked Marlon. He seem to have the least amount of talent and no apparent natural dancing ability. His voice was good, but nothing special. The proof has been in the pudding as none of the Jacksons have had any significant success without Michael even in their attempts to capitalize on his death.
@memdiva .....true dat....true dat.......all dem bros were killin it! Marlon and Jackie were great dancers as well.....people forget about them....Randy on bongos...Tito on guitar...they don't have concerts like this anymore...plus they were singing........LIVE!
@thighseye I agree with you! This kind of passion and love for entertaining people is missing from this generation! I watch this video like every other day. It never gets old! So much talent on one stage!
@wegotforever You saw the Jacksons many times :o. I was gona see Mike at This Is It. Your lucky, i always thought the victory tour was the best tour cus he had his bros behind him (although MJ's energy on the bad tour seemed endless)
@bigazzpimp407 I totally agree with you!! Theres sth missed with artists today, I dont feel or see originality these days, everything is a new version of an old song or movie, I dont think artists like MJ, Elvis, The Beatles, James Brown or Bob Marley will exist again
michael is showing great devoloping dancing skills

Randy set those bongos on fire, they didn't have a chance in hell. I hope they retired them after that performance!
