  • Cool, David Duchovni ended up sharpening knives LOL

  • Thanks for watching my video. Sorry for the confusion. I push away from the edge because I can see and feel the burr it creates all the way along the blade with out missing a spot, which is my indication I can stop grinding and start honing or stropping. If using a honing stone after grinding I would raise the angle a degree or two and push to knock the burr of, then if you want it super shaving sharp pull on a leather strop a few times. In the shop I use a belt grinder and buffer.

  • There are a lot of ways to sharpen a knife. As long as it gets sharp without damage, it's correct.

I do it a different way, but there is nothing wrong with this way.

  • I push and pull each stroke. The push swipe hones the edge and the pull swipe will deburr/strope metal back in place to be honed off again.

  • You can push the blade or you can pull it and then get rid of the burr at the end.

  • why are you pulling the blade instead of pushing it? wrong direction.

  • Good description, but I always saw sharpening in the opposite direction...
