11 days ago i completed Tales Of Symphonia, it's the most exciting and intense rgp i have ever played in my life!, i spent over 142 hours on it!, Tales Of Symphonia had all the major ingredients for a one of a kind game, nice play control, colorful sharp graphics, larger the life characters, well thought out dialogue, good voice acting, unforgettable cutscenes, emotional charged music and most importantly the well written story that had the best storyflow ever told. I will never sale my copy!.
I love this game SO MUCH. It's one of my favorite jrpgs, tied with the Wii version of Okami. I'm happy that this is posted in such great quality. Now I can download it off YT for an amv I'm thinking about :)

has anyone noticed that the element of lightning seems to be almost a symbol of the enemy in this game? kvar, the murderer of lloyds mom was a lightning wizard, volt, the summon spirit who killed many people is like sheenas mortal enemy and hes a lightning ball. yuan is an enemy for most of the game hes like a rival to lloyd and hes a lightning fighter. kratos is one of the main enemies and his primary element is lightning when you fight him. maybe im just crazy but...lightning is evil in tales.
I played ToS first on gamecube.... maybe paid $20 for it then...........now I MISS it SOOOOO much and I priced it for PS2 and its like $70-$100 . ..... If you get a chance to get into this series of games this is in my view the best of ALL.

I love this game. It strikes me now that the opening does actually contain a whole lot of spoilers, thought you might not know that until you've played through the parts they spoiled, thus not spoiling anything. It also strikes me that they've really put a whole lot of work into this. The intro shows a lot of fully animated stuff that is actually in the game as normal cutscenes.
@Politicalfishtv How do you get him to survive without recieving him instead of Kratos? I have already played through the ending where he betrays cruxis and the ending where you kill him.
@OokamiTaishou In flanoir, when collette and genis want to talk, if you refuse both of them Kratos will call lloyd outside and you will get kratos in the end instead of Zelos, hope that helped
@AngelofDeath2178 It gives you the option of talking to three people. and then if you turn all three down kratos will talk. But following that path will kill zelos. You can't lose to him or else it is game over.
I have fond memories of playing this in early middle school, my friend and I brought it up north to his cabin and it got snowed in, so we spent an entire weekend holed up in the basement playing this.

I never understood why lists of the best games fail to remember Chrono Trigger. It was DEFINITELY better than all the Final Fantasies. And Final Fantasy is a fucking good series.
@bobbypretzel I wouldn't say that it's DEFINITELY better, there's quite a fine line between them. I think it DEFINITELY deserves to be in the top 5 best games, but I can understand if someone likes FF more than it. I find it better but that's my personal opinion. :) And I love this opening more than the Japanese one. You're absolutely right on the epic, expansive feel. It feels immerse, like you're being drawn into a grand adventure.

I've played Legendia and Destiny, two sequels to the game. Phantasia had it where you could like combo your attacks on the enemies and whatnot. Then it turned into just > Attack attacks once or twice. ^ attacks up, down attack attacks down. And while you do this, you have severe lag in between attacks.
I got it when it had JUST come out, and I still play it. I'll never get bored of it.
I wish I could say the same about the sequel. It was horrid... The plot line really irked me, As did the new voice actors, and ALL the new characters. Especially Emil.
Anyway, amazing game, amazing theme. I love ToS C:
I never EVER got bored of this game. I love the intro, especially with the vocal-less music. It just sounds much more adventurous and emotional without words, thus letting you peacefully take in the beautiful effects and animated illustrations it provides.

I'll always prefer this one to Dawn of a New World...In the 2nd one, Zelos sounds retarded. You hardly play as the old charecters. Marta and Emil bore me to death. The Sheena and Zelos "flirting"(we all know they loveeee each other), or bickering, what ever you wanna call it, was just...weird...And there was hardly any. And they also kinda changed the look of the charecters. I preferred the cute fluffy charecters from the first one.
Storywise, it was good enough. You know, covering what happened after the worlds were made into one again. Though, gameplay wise, symphonia character sucks. You're better off with monsters than them.
Even though I know a lot of you will disagree with me, I have to say that I enjoyed the english opening more, without vocals. It just seems to fit the opening more and capture the epicness that was this game.
Spectacular voice actors, amazing gameplay, brilliant graphics, and one of the best stories I've ever seen behind a game.. This is my favorite game of all time! I'm glad there's no real end to the game, or I'd be crushed with the sequels. My highest average party level is actually 287 :D
I'm totally syched, 'cause I've ordered this game on my GC (GameCube), and it should get here either tomorrow or the day after (pleeeease be tomorrow)!

Tales of Symphonia was one of my favorite games of all time but the sequel was terrible in my opinion...it lacked so many things that the first one did especially missing most of the old voice actors from the first game
And Kratos was my fav character ever... so upset that I only heard him for 2 seconds and saw him for a minute in a sidequest *sigh* really the sequel did not even compare...
And I agree with the voice actor thing. Lloyds new one did not suit him at all
@CoolGuyyyyyyyyy Tales was amazing, almost perfect, and while Dawn may not have been, it brought us more insight to the original characters, which I thought was really cool. It's a love it or hate it thing, but personally, just the chance for more SheeLloyd makes me love it. XD

@CoolGuyyyyyyyyy Also getting rid of the open world map was one thing that pissed me off. I loved being able to run around and fight random monsters, flying on the Riehards (especially loved that theme song), and being able to find treasure on the map. Another thing that pissed me off was the fact that the game starts out where Lloyd is portrayed as a villain and the main character is some whimpy little boy who needs some cat like monster to give him power to fight.

Storywise, it was good enough. You know, covering what happened after the worlds were made into one again. Though, gameplay wise, symphonia character sucks. You're better off with monsters than them.

Even though I know a lot of you will disagree with me, I have to say that I enjoyed the english opening more, without vocals. It just seems to fit the opening more and capture the epicness that was this game.

Spectacular voice actors, amazing gameplay, brilliant graphics, and one of the best stories I've ever seen behind a game.. This is my favorite game of all time! I'm glad there's no real end to the game, or I'd be crushed with the sequels. My highest average party level is actually 287 :D

@xMari95x well it really depends what type of game u like.
ToS= awesome plot, awesome voice actors/actresses, awesome music, awesome characters, etc.
KoR= lots of character development, focus on 2 main characters, romance, better fight system (or at least more complex), etc.

Its one of the best games i've ever played, if not the best. I've spent more than 700 hours playing it (no kidding) and i never seem to get bored of it.

Tales of Symphonia was one of my favorite games of all time but the sequel was terrible in my opinion...it lacked so many things that the first one did especially missing most of the old voice actors from the first game

And Kratos was my fav character ever... so upset that I only heard him for 2 seconds and saw him for a minute in a sidequest *sigh* really the sequel did not even compare...
And I agree with the voice actor thing. Lloyds new one did not suit him at all

@CoolGuyyyyyyyyy Tales was amazing, almost perfect, and while Dawn may not have been, it brought us more insight to the original characters, which I thought was really cool. It's a love it or hate it thing, but personally, just the chance for more SheeLloyd makes me love it. XD

@CoolGuyyyyyyyyy Also getting rid of the open world map was one thing that pissed me off. I loved being able to run around and fight random monsters, flying on the Riehards (especially loved that theme song), and being able to find treasure on the map. Another thing that pissed me off was the fact that the game starts out where Lloyd is portrayed as a villain and the main character is some whimpy little boy who needs some cat like monster to give him power to fight.

oh my friggen god. So i download this to play on the gamecube emulator because reviews said it was a big game from the console.
Was this friggen game marketed to teach 5 year olds to read !? .... Man.. I just wanted to see the game before I moved on to another game. Spent 30 fricken minutes mashing buttons trying to get them to STFU reading 2 lines at a time. LAME
