The small bird takes what is offers and thanks her and god for giving the small offering. It turns out that the small bird is her brother (most likeley he died at some point) and thanks to her kindeness, because her giving a small seed to a poor creature, he is given a plase amongs the angels in heaven.

my mother comes from finland. i loved this christmas-song sinc a was little. i have anoter version, which sings a little girl - so sweet! it´s about a little bird who is searching for something to eat in winter. i little girl gives the bird something to eat (seed?) than the bird speaks to the girl, that he isn´t a normal bird from this world.bird. he is an angel send from god... (i am german, not finish. maybe my translation isn`t 100% correct, sorry ^^ =) )
