It's not that they don't care, they wouldn't play it live at all if the didn't care. It's that some songs are difficult to sing live since in studio they weren't even sung in one big session, instead taking breaks from sentence to sentence. Making it impossible to be the exact same live, therefor causing the singer to find an easier way to sing it live, a.k.a changing the lyrics.

These are clearly NOT the original lyrics. Where is Jackie Chan and his bug eyes...his gaping jaw? Where is E.T.? Where does it say he didn't even graduate fucking high school?

I have noticed that Maynard likes to substitute lyrics for random words or thoughts.

In this,the beginning it sounds something like: "Picture this if you will" then went something like "A ____ told me that the" I cant figure out anything past this point, but it sounds like he is telling a different story from the orig.
