  • Where are these IDOL performers today? Could act, sing and dance... Even Cagney was a marvelous dancer, and accomplished guitarist. Sigh....

  • The actress playing young Sammy's mother is the great Ethel Waters. She was at the height of her Broadway fame when she did the soundie featured in this video.

  • Wow, Sammy had an old face even as a little kid. I love it. I wish there was actual video on her.

  • and to think that this greatest of cultured men never set one foot into a school room. Wrote six books himself, conversed with presidents and kings, loved all humanity and God bless me, was my godfather and it doesn't get more wonderful than that.

  • He was so adorable! What a great talent this wonderful human being was. Sammy is my favorite male singer and always will be. Thank you for posting. You made my day! :)

  • sadly he was being exploited, but the true test of this man is that he has triumphed and hs spirit lives on, more than 20 yrs post his passing!

  • Is that really Sammy? It sure looks like him. The sheer joy on the kids face is amazing

  • looks the same as he was as an adult.......height and all. lol

  • I did not know Sammy Davis Jr was a child. Beautiful song too.

  • Wonderful slide show, great singer! Great arrangement too. playthell Benjamin, music critic and journalism professor

  • Thanks a lot, I'm glad that you liked the slide show and singer. Oh by the way, the singer is Linda Redd

  • The msn sound is very beautiful.

  • Fantastic version! Especially love seeing Sammy dancing slow enough to see the steps he did before the newcomers.

  • I'm glad that you liked Linda Redd's version of this classic song. I intentionally edited the slide show so that Sammy Davis's foot work could be displayed

  • its just amazing, love that version
