  • Like a few really skilled players before him (Billy Cobham, Lenny White), he is basically a lefty who learned on a right handed kit. So he's almost completely ambidextrous.

  • This is MUSIC.....

  • why was carter playing righty?!?

  • @Nairodrummer No, he was playing left handed. What hand does he normally play with?

  • Just jammed along with my guitar, awesome backing track to jam to!

  • Check out the You Tube clips of Dennis Chambers playing with Gary Grainger, a bassist, and you'll see and hear why Chambers was so incredible years ago if you think Beauford's good in this clip.

  • wow.

  • splendid!

  • i agree with the person below me, if you dont think beauford can groove then you need to watch the video again with the volume on this time

  • okay erm the person below me has said CARTER BEAUFORD lacks groove? Crazy ass statement that haha :')

  • carter lacks groove though. i prefer steve smith.

  • Look, one person was so amazed by how awesome this is, they slipped and clicked on the dislike button by mistake.

  • This is just AWESOME!

  • Wow, a victor jam that normal humans can play.

  • OK, just a relaxed blues. Improvising on blues is some of the best practice you can get, and you can do it all day.

  • Anyone could sound good with his drumming in the background, though Wooten is still a hoss.

  • What kind of sticks is he using?

  • @dreamangels06 they are called rods

  • Straight up talent, also this is some HARDCORE baby makin' music right here!

  • how somebody can dislike this. . . . that guy is fcking deaf . . .

  • carter looks so weird playing cross sticking

  • lmao I thought Victor said in the beginning, " YOU CAN SNORT THAT."

  • just carter is playing righty....fucked up

  • sounds a lot like a funky version of the stormy monday. they are ridiculous

  • @psb322

    Sweet.

    What would Buddy do?

What would Gary Francois, the big cry baby do?

Travis Barker's a good drummer. So's this guy.

Travis flies around going upside down and ain't no clown with a frown down on the ground kid spice home slice.

  • Drum god and bass god = Orgasm XD

  • Why in the hell would you bring Travis Barker's name up on a Carter Beauford video?! GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE KID LMAO.. Travis?! Really?! ROFL!!!!! XD

  • omg .... seriously... im sooooo tired of clicking on a video like this, then scrolling down and seeing the name Travis Barker.... i just do not get it....... why does Travis keep getting brought up? isit because of MTV??? its like... its the only drummer people have heard of or something... just not even appropriate... its like apples to oranges

  • DRUMMERS PLEASE SUPPORT THIS DRUMMER! HE RECENTLY GOT HIS SET STOLEN, ALONG WITH SOME OF HIS BANDS GEAR AND VEHICLE IN DETROIT 10/12, BAD THINGS HAPPEN BEFORE THE GOOD ,,,HELP HIM OUT!

  • @huntercarney1

Travis Barker is cool. He's no fool... He doesn't scowl like BR and NR...No, he doesn't.

  • @JoeJacari how cute u rhymed... fag... travis barker is so overrated its discusting

  • so clean.

  • It's got that lenny white/cobham feel,

  • I'd like to hear Travis Barker have a go at it.

  • @JoeJacari lol travis aint got nothin on carter!

  • @idrum4jesus767 why is it that without fail some troll comes in and compares travis barker to whomever is playing drums? lol

  • @MyPerfectOpiate HAHA bogussss

  • @JoeJacari your a fuck off

  • maaannnn tasty drums at 1:07

  • This isn't going to be a popular opinion here. This feels pretty bad.

  • Eso que tiene Carter en sus manos, no deben ser baquetas, deben ser una clase especial de varitas magicas. Sino no es posible que toque asi, tiene que haber algo magico que lo haga posible. =)

  • hot rods always have the best feel for me...

    ;0 D

  • @jareds1007 yeah, they are great! hot rods. and also the lightning rods for just a little harder playing. i use to destroy the hot rods playing. then they made lightning rods. both are a must have for me.

  • @toynazi my brother turned me on to the hotrods, never got a chance with the lightning rods.......but nonetheless our floor around my dads kit used to look like somebody had put chines bamboo through a blender and just scattered it around like confetti! lol.

  • @jareds1007 yeah my bass player gets pissed! he keeps steping on the pieces of stick. he likes to play bare foot. and he pays for it.

  • this video is just too short

  • somone hand me a tissue because im about to bust a nut

  • everything is awesome , except one thing,,, these cant be carters drums, they sound like poop.....

  • you can store that..haha

  • Nice, when they are together I will call them Beetwooten

  • @LeopoldDickerson Carvic wootenford!!!!

  • God the look at how great Beauford is at mke the hi hat sound so great in a new way!

  • its a shame Beauford's in fucking Dave Matthews Band...

  • @mooselord12345 yeah i bet he's reeeal disappointed with that decision....

  • victor wooten the best

  • i have met Victor and i love dave matthews these two go together so well

  • has the syncopation of stormy monday

that 3/4 or 6/8 stylee' both incredible musicians

  • stormy monday?

  • It's nice to hear their hybrid / funk-like take on standard blues.

  • I'm a drummer and a HUGE Carter fan, but I really enjoyed watching Victor on this one. I love the double string thing he does. Check out :30 through :32 and:50 through 1:07. I'm not a bass player but I love that stuff. So smooth.

  • What tuberidin said! Nothing like watching a smooth bass player as a drummer. :)

  • @tuberidin AGREED! that is awesome stuff. So chill and relaxed, Smooth baby...smooth and sly

  • drummers! i need some sexy tracks like this to play along too....whether its just bass lines or bands whatever, If u know anything good to play along to no matter the style reply to me ppllleeeaassee

  • This recording is rough. You guys realize it's not mastered at all right?

  • idiot comment, you're wrong.stupid kid.

  • oh, now you're not wrong. but what has masterisation anything to do here? go to school.

  • @sstrong42

I have a noob question...what exactly is mastering? Mixing and 'candy coating' dynamics and such?

  • sick! i love tht kit!

  • Amazing

  • This is the best thing to do s a musician, no notes, no set up just flow....your best comes out when u flow + its just stress free and fun!

  • best youtube comment ive read in awhile

  • @Cdouglas0906 you're stupid

  • @MrHk2 huh? Ummm your probably not a musician or your just wet behind the ears...so I wont take it personally. God bless you.

  • I was absolutely amazed at 0:55 when victor played two parts it was so sweet

    god he is GOOD

  • all we need now is carlos santana and brandon boyd. then we'd have the ultimate chill band!

  • brandooooooooon and carlos! :D

    yeah...that band would be UNREAL.

    love brandons vocals so much.

  • carter's style and talent is just unfathomable.

  • Beauford's splash cymbal totally disproves what Jojo Mayer says about the intensity of striking cymbals in relation to how good they sound! When he just barely touches that splash it just sounds TERRIBLE.

    Thought that was interesting.

  • If you are saying that Carter hit it soft and it sounded terrible, then you must be on a different world. Especially consider the laid back feel.

  • you should reconsider your statement and look at the sticks beauford is using. using woodsticks in hickory, maple or whatever heavier sort gives enough projection out of any cymbal if you barely touch it with the tip. the point of jojo mayers statement is power isnt not equal to good or better sound, its all about getting the best out of the cymbal, and you can do that the best if you have a loose feel on your sticks and sort of swing your stick across the edge instead of just digging in to it.

  • This is all true, but one can't honestly say that the splash really sounded that GREAT.

However, this is all my OPINION. Carter's one of the best drummers alive, I just think that the way that certain cymbal sounds is just trash.

  • I think your an asshlole........can you drum better than Carter??? nuff said! He can drum most guys under the table!

  • Of course Carter's a WAY better drummer than I could ever HOPE to be. The comment was not directed at the MUSICIAN, but at the INSTRUMENT.

I was merely saying that I think that splash sounds like crap. But that's maybe because I look for a much more "bright" sound out of splash cymbals and that one seems really bronzy and heavy.

These guys are both amazing musicians and I respect each very highly.

  • I know what your saying, but keep in mind we are listening to youtube quality audio....it probaly sounds alot different on higher quality, or in person.

  • jeez can you imagine them backing a band together? holy crap that would be amazing

  • omg

i knew both these guys i cant believe theyre playing together here

best drum and bass duo i could have imagined

  • That has gotta be the funkiest damn rhtyhm section I ever heard.

  • Carter plays with both hands....

  • lol, this just in

  • lol whoa way to delete my comment, i cant even remember what i said, and dont be hatin, i am a drummer and im full ambedextrious thank you very much so you can shut your trap and stop being a hater.. at least im not some travis barker punk lol i hate those kids.. think travis is better than buddy rich

  • Good drummers play the way their body feels the most comfortable with. You don't need to be able to do the hihat with your left hand to be a good drummer, that's just nonsense. You need to be equally matched both in left and right hands, that's basically all.

The reason carter has the playstyle he does is he started out on a leftie kit (he's a leftie) and then switched over to a rightie kit (forgot why) and started playing as a rightie, then he just started playing leftie on a rightie setup.

  • To add on to Ronnyssoeberg's comment....Have you checked out Billy Cobham pshpsh532?

Billy Cobham has influenced a lot of drummers like Carter Beauford,Dennis Chambers and so on.

  • carter isnt left left handed dude

  • OKAYYYYY i got it already youguys geezeee im a drummer too i play both hands and yes i know carter plays with both hands i was mistaken when i wrote that comment i was just gettin into carter stuff... so settle down, its not like carter is a god, dont get me wrong though hes one of my favourite drummers

  • que grande ,son terribles musicos!!!! HERNAN

  • Just got to love carter's open hand technique!

It's just so smooth and controlled. Let's not even mention wooten... If you haven't seen him playing amazing grace... Do yourself a favor, check it out!

  • Wow.. Now that is cooking!

  • would you consider carter a right or left handed drummer

  • Considering he's left handed; left & open handed drummer :)

  • actually,

he states in one of his prior dvds that he has developed his drumming to the point where his left handed drumming is to the same level as his right. he just likes his open set up because it suits him best. : )

  • Yeah I'm sorry, I just watched his DVD and he cleared it up. Thanks for correcting. :)

  • the drummer is amazzzziing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    with the off beats

    brilliant stuff!!!!!!!!

  • Writting some lyrics over that music would be simply easy since the vibe is insanely good!

  • it crazy that beauford can play so good and controled with both hands. and victor is simply the best:)

  • can play so well*

  • Controlled*

  • it's all too easy for these guys, wonderful

  • groooves as hell...

  • victor is kickin it on that bass man. he the best

  • agreed!

  • nice, Wooten and beauford are the best.

  • @sauleen HECK YEAH MAN!!!!
