Sorry, I think you meant mocking? Well actually we are Norwegians. My grandparents are from Oslo, and we grew up with my mom making lutefisk every Christmas..But we kind of broke the tradition because of the smell but were surprised that it actually tasted better than we remembered
@margarnp No worries. Not all of us take it as mockery. I'm in my late 20s and have yet to taste it. I've smelt it, hence the hesitation to actually eat it. :p
Hey, to this day I can't eat anchovies. My father tricked me into trying it when I was 5. Utterly revolting.
@Ims2202 well, go ahead ... make fun of the Italian kitchen or some good ol' American spareribs, chowder and fries!
Sorry pal, but as a norwegian, concerning culinary issues, I'm afraid you're sitting on the lower end of the barrel. Serious, I understand: the forefathers were poor and all that ... but that's no reason to eat this rancid stuff in the 21st century! For god sake, Norway is a rich country these days!
I've eaten Lutefisk every Christmas since my husband and I started dating in 1995. It's a family tradition on his side and all the in-laws, and the kids, are expected to eat it. You actually can develop a taste for it; my own kids certainly like it. It's best when served hot with plenty of butter, salt and pepper.
@TheTripstrapstrull Well I do agree, he is a normal child
