saw em in '81 at the Woodbury Ski N Racket club in Northwestern Connecticut live outside under the sun,Rick Derringer opened up for them !! F-ing ripped it up all day long !!!!! Got some most awesome pics too !!!! The only band to perfectly record live in a studio all together in one room in one take t'was " GREEN GRASS N HIGH TIDES"...

You Guys and Gals can argue all that you want about anything petty…I know what I know and that is, This is one Kick Ass song…I listened to the Outlaws as I drove to High school back in 74 (Yeah I’m Old) I would put in my cassette and crank the Pioneer Super Tuner as high as it would go and do my best to blow the Jensen Triaxel speakers. They had a Driving Drummer and Quick licks, They screamed at you “Play the Air Guitar”. From This to Hurry Sundown it is great ROCK AND ROLL.

Also tried blowing the speakers with Steppenwolf too; couldn't kill the damn speakers!

I kind of have to call BS on this. Big Outlaws fan from back when they were playing local clubs, on up to present. I have even given Hughie a ride from a gig to his hotel in my car. I have seen them play with this lineup back before Hughie died, and although they were good, the sound on this video is from the first album, not live. Nice job putting it together but that track is from the record.

My buddies and I grew up in New Jersey and The Outlaws were huge in the NY/NJ area, selling out several nights in a row. Their awesome Wall of sound, great melodies and dueling lead guitars made them as popular as the Allman Bros. and Skynrd. I saw them live at least 5 or 6 times in the late 70's at the peak of their popularity. RIP Hughie Thomasson lead vocals and guitar who passed away recently,keep jamming at the next level brother.

Any guitar player can do what they want in the studio but Hughie was one of the greatest "live" players ever. If you were lucky enough to see Hughie,Billy, and Henry play together, it was absolute paradise. What a great fucking band they were.

Its very Rory Gallagher the sound he picks up, a fine fucking blues-rock artist. If you dont mind people advising an artist i highly advise youtubing ''irish tour'' its one the best live albums i've heard next to springsteens Seeger Session live stuff.

Also a reason i love this band IS cos of that lead-strat sounding so like Rory, either ways it fucking rocks, hope i turned you onto a new artist

@tvrulesnation I'm a Gallagher fan but, he's really not in Hughie's league. ONE live performance would have made you a believer. Most of the guitarists who are frequently talked about as being the best, Hendrix, Clapton, Page aren't quite up to Hughie abilities. Leslie West (Mountain) considered Thomasson to be outstanding. That's kinda like a King handing you his crown BTW.

original outlaws back in 1977. it was my

first concert. They used concert footage

of the song "Free Bird" for the movie and both bands smoked that day equally. and

I saw each band several times through the years. but when I saw Skynnyrd with Hughie T and Ricky M and Gary R performing together as Super Skynnyrd Hey Blackfoot, Skynnyrd, Outlaws. there all Fuckin The Best case closed.

The original Skynyrd (one n, not two) ended when Bob Burns left the band in 1975. We'll suffice it to say you saw the band in 1977.

the OUTLAWS were definetly far better musicians and the songs they put together were more complex,musically. and there vocals blew skynyrds out of the water.HUGHIE was the GREATEST GUITARIST in southern rock history,or maybe in rock history, a true natural.but SKYNYRD,and the lyrics and there whiskey drinkn , hell raising and CURSED history are things that movies are made for.plus they got the outlaws signed,and on tour. so it is hard to chose. i knew HUGHIE well and loved him, I AM OUTLAW !

Paul, Thommason, Jones Yoho et all were a genuine rock and roll band. A rare bred these days and its always fantastic to hear them. I had the pleasure of seeing them in person several times during the mid 1970s. I also had the great pleasure of seeing the Henry Paul band in a small venue. Great memories.

Great song! I saw these guys with Molly Hatchet at the old Cape Cod Collasium back in '78. The venue was a big corrogated sweat box. But it hosted alot of big acts. They played their hearts out and the place was packed to the rafters. The parking lot was full of frisbies and pot smoke. Kids today have no idea how much fun us later boomers had. The Outlaws were a guitar and deuce drum band that have always been underrated in the 70's rock scene. Glad I was able to see them in their prime!
