And this is surprising why? All it means is that they think that Chen Shui-bian is guilty, which most of the country does. Even his own son and his wife's brother have admitted the guilt. I would be VERY surprised if no one laughed, even if just for the humor.

I don't see why they wouldn't be mentally fit to practice the law.

Most people in Taiwan think that Chen is guilty, even if no evidence so far has emerged of Chen's wrongdoing?

This is because the pro-KMT press has been bombarding the Taiwanese with the message "Chen is guilty Chen is guilty" for the past few years.

We all know that KMT controls press, judges, etc, so they can carry out character assassination (like in the case of Chen and other pan-Green officials) virtually unchallenged.

Taiwan's lawyers and law professors should all stand up and voice their concerns about the abuse and injustice to save the judiciary system. I guess the heads of the Judiciary Yuan and the Control Yuan are deaf and blind or maybe dead since there is no word from them..

They mock on stage all those defendants (including another defendant who committed domestic abuse) they deemed guilty without a shadow of doubt. How can you expect justice or a fair trial when the defendant is already pronounced guilty without trial?
