You have got great rhythm and style however tone sounds like a 8th grader. You need to change your embouchure to improve your tone. I understand a lot of the distortion is from the mike however not all of it. Overall I really liked it
I noticed you hardly ever used valve 3; those notes were mainly lipped down? And you say you don't read music, well nether do I but I suppose I'll have to practice more !
Holy shit are you serious? You play everything you do by just ear and you've never learned how to read sheet music? that is crazy... And amazing at the same time
Hey, nice video man! I just started playing tuba, and in turn Sousaphone for my school's marching band. Would you mind telling a newbie like me where one can find online compositions for songs like the one you were just play. If you can't, its all cool; just keep on rockn!!
Wow, that is really good, but i think it would be a little better sound quality if the camera was a little further away from the instrument. Other than that, i loved it :)
Very, very, very good pcrom!!!! I play the sousaphone with a hot jazz band in Argentina, where I live. I really enjoyed your video. Thanks. All the best for you.
Thanks. Just keep practising, the endurance goed pretty fast. I play the sousaphone for 6 years now. What also helps very much that is doing breathing exercise as much as possible e.g. when waiting for a red traffic light
Thanks for the comment. If I know how the melody of a song sounds that I can play it pretty quickly. This particular recording is a standard bassline I always use for practicing but on a song like e.g. Black and Blue I play it 2 or 3 times and than make the recording. Therefor you will see pretty much mistakes in finger settings. More important is that I can concentrate enough on the piece.

your flow is sloppy cuz you slap the valves. there is no need to do that. they aren't hard to press down.
mmfan1327 2 years ago
@mmfan1327 when you play funk, for some reason you slap the vavlves, i do it in class when we are playing a funky piece
