@prabhudion DSP did the score for the film. Hence, he did it AFTER the songs were composed. He has to take significant themes from the SONGS, so he used Kalai Mattum. If there was any form of "copying" that took place then it is by Himesh not Devi.

Devi Sri Prasad sir was also working with Himesh in Dasavatharam. Devi sir was just reusing his tune. He has done that a couple of times. for ex Devi sir used the same tune from Ready (Om Namaste Bolo) in Villu (Dheemthanakka Thillana)

This is not at all Vikram's First movie. Vikram Started his career in Tamil, then Reached Malayalm, and Telugu. He has acted in Three movies with Mammotty, One with Sureshgopi and one Malayalam movie as hero (Itha oru Snehagatha). and there is only one Super Star in India thats Rajini Kanth. Mammotty is one of the best actor but not at all superstar. Mammotty's 6 of every 10 movies are FLOP. Rajinikanth, SHahrukhan and Chiranjeevi can make a loose movie a HIT. thats what superstar to be.

A R Rahman had a confirmed role in Dasavatharam, but had to step out because of Sivaji and Jodhaa Akbar. In a recent interview, A R Rahman said that he wished that he had done the music for Dasavatharam. A.R. Rahman has finalized his music directing role in Kamal Hassan's next movie "Marmayogi".
I don't think Himesh would have copied it himself.. He has not much chances of knowing such a Malayalam song.. Someone would have asked him to remake this song for that situation.. That's what I think.. I might be wrong.. Anyways...
I agree that there are a lot of ragas out there, but this is kind of amusing, even funny; way to be original Himesh. I'm sure I may be alone in saying this, but this is the perfect start to a movie like Dasavatharam.
songs are made of octaves or ragas and there are only 300 odd ragas and all these millions of songs we hear are composed out of those few ragas....so it is but natural to find a resemblance to so many songs, some match the starting few notes rest are totally apart, in this case, we have to accept that this song and the song from dasavatharam are basically on the same raga, but miles apart in their presentation and situation.

Talking about copy, listen to the opening of this 'original' song (From malayalam movie 'Sainyam'. Mammootty film, not Vikram, he's only a side actor in that). Thats copied from an english number 'all that she wants' by 'ACE of BASE'
It is very easy to pick up similarities and criticize people; why not just appreciate the hard work they put into the bigger picture? I'm not defending the person responsible, but I think if the aim is to pick up mistakes and copies, it is very easy to find something. Anyway, "kallai mattum kandal" is way better, and has a stronger effect when watching the actual picturized version. At least the story line of Dasavatharam is different, and its the first kind I've seen among Indian movies.

There are so many other songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu etc that are similar to each other; in fact, I've heard songs that have the exact same music like this (i.e. Sankranthi & Kadhal Sugamanathu just to name one with copied songs);but no one complains about that. Anniyan is similar to Indian, even more Anniyan is an exact copy of the novel "Tell me your dreams" by Sideny Sheldon (if doubt, go read it, the book is actually interesting)with subtle changes.

This is not at all Vikram's First movie. Vikram Started his career in Tamil, then Reached Malayalm, and Telugu. He has acted in Three movies with Mammotty, One with Sureshgopi and one Malayalam movie as hero (Itha oru Snehagatha). and there is only one Super Star in India thats Rajini Kanth. Mammotty is one of the best actor but not at all superstar. Mammotty's 6 of every 10 movies are FLOP. Rajinikanth, SHahrukhan and Chiranjeevi can make a loose movie a HIT. thats what superstar to be.

I agree that there are a lot of ragas out there, but this is kind of amusing, even funny; way to be original Himesh. I'm sure I may be alone in saying this, but this is the perfect start to a movie like Dasavatharam.

songs are made of octaves or ragas and there are only 300 odd ragas and all these millions of songs we hear are composed out of those few ragas....so it is but natural to find a resemblance to so many songs, some match the starting few notes rest are totally apart, in this case, we have to accept that this song and the song from dasavatharam are basically on the same raga, but miles apart in their presentation and situation.

1. Very poor execution.
2. Amatuerish makeup CGI, and that completely overshadows kamals acting.

It is very easy to pick up similarities and criticize people; why not just appreciate the hard work they put into the bigger picture? I'm not defending the person responsible, but I think if the aim is to pick up mistakes and copies, it is very easy to find something. Anyway, "kallai mattum kandal" is way better, and has a stronger effect when watching the actual picturized version. At least the story line of Dasavatharam is different, and its the first kind I've seen among Indian movies.

If you think it was good, then appreciate their hard work; if not, just ignore. Are you in any way involved in the entertainment industry? There are so many people involved in that movie who probably put in their hard work. Even to criticize and judge someone else, one needs qualifications. If they don't, its better to keep quiet.

There are so many other songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu etc that are similar to each other; in fact, I've heard songs that have the exact same music like this (i.e. Sankranthi & Kadhal Sugamanathu just to name one with copied songs);but no one complains about that. Anniyan is similar to Indian, even more Anniyan is an exact copy of the novel "Tell me your dreams" by Sideny Sheldon (if doubt, go read it, the book is actually interesting)with subtle changes.

Even the storyline for Anniyan is a copy of the book "Tell me your dreams" by Sidney Sheldon. Only difference is the protagonist is a female in the book. Even the ending was exact copy (Sada&Vikram going on train vs. female character in book going on train to her father's place). The book came out way before the movie, so Shankar did copy the book, because it is too similar (actually SAME) for it to be a coincidence.

My point is that, copying other people's ideas and hard work is not new, and it seems to be everywhere so why make big deal out of one song (at least lyrics are different). Go read the book, you will realize the entire movie of Anniyan is a copy, which I consider a more serious thing than one song.
